Never ever do anything you wouldn’t want your kids to do while they’re watching. Let’s not forget that children are a replica of their parents. And they learn from what they see and hear. So if they even do something it’s because they’ve seen or heard it somewhere. Gambling, smoking, etc. these are behaviors that they should never see but instead, build their mind to better ways to make money. It’s difficult if you’re a chronic gambler though but the kids are better off without a father than learning things that’ll only ruin their life.
True, the point is that it is fine if you want to do whatever you want even if it is a negative activity but one thing we must remember here is to never do it in front of your children, or if for example you are gambling and your child approaches you then obviously it is better to postpone your gambling activity and continue at a later time. On the other hand, I'm sure all parents don't want to see their children involved in negative activities or have bad habits, and this precaution does not only apply to gambling but to anything that can have a negative impact on a child's health or personality. Because as you said above that children are replicas of their parents, or you can also call them like sponges that easily absorb whatever they see from what adults, especially their parents, do, and in my opinion no matter how chronic the parents' involvement in gambling I think they will definitely care about their children, but there are also some gamblers who even really have a very severe mindset which you may have seen in some previous topics that there is a father who leaves his toddler at home alone just to go to a physical casino to gamble.
