Kids absorb everything we say and do. And gambling? Men, it's a psychological pleasure ride. We bring that home and hardwire our kids to chase that rush. This thing makes youngsters riskier, according to science. This is good parenting, not helicopter parenting. Our time is while they're at school or asleep. Man, we have to construct their universe and strategically expose them to crap. We must educate children about danger, not merely keep them from gambling

Help them think critically. Teach them budgeting and chess. Teach children decision-making and consequences in healthy ways. There are a million ways to teach risk assessment without gambling. Give kids the skills to make smart choices, not merely protect them from poor ones

Finally another one who understands that hiding act of gambling does not prevent anything. Explaining and talking are the keys to success to kids. Hiding act of gambling only helps a little, as it works on a really narrow area. Parents might not gamble in front of the kids, but as soon as kid leaves house door, parents can not fully control him. So it is better for my kid to be prepared to what he sees.

"Never gamble in front of your kids" would work and be successful it everyone would do that. But parents can not force other to do what they want. A perfect pink world with ponies, smiling people and peace does not exist.

Despite the aggressive publicity on gambling around every environment lots of people still don't engage into gambling, due to the type of training given to them by their parent. Unfortunately, some parents tell their kids ill things about gambling which scare them away from the act. It helps but it's not right to tarnish the image of gamblers in your kid's presence. However, parents who gamble around their kids, also, are not getting things right because of the disadvantages this will cause in future on the children. We all need to draft a specific time for gaming especially when the kids are sleeping or away from the house. I don't seem to understand why some players gamble openly.

Does it mean their rooms are not enough for gambling. Kids are mainly trained to spend time in their own room or the sitting room. They rarely stay in their parent's room. It's always okay for a dad or mom to gamble in their private rooms for the safety of the children. While, still, educating them on the needs to stay clear from gambling and how rough it could be for young people. This is necessary because of the society we find ourselves, not all parents care about their kid's wellbeing, if we don't gamble in the presence of our kids, other people could be doing this, and we don't know who they are, if same kids from a home with such parental training spend time with ours. So, preparing the kids to repel on any advice from whosoever, regarding participating in gambling at a tender age, is important.
That's good if kids not involve into gambling because they already gets information from their parents that gambling can gives bad impacts to their lives so they will not gets into gambling. Their parents just shows the bad impact to their kids because they see many kids involve in gambling and makes their lives ruin because of gambling.
They don't wants to see their kids lives ruins too so they always guides their kids in the right track and makes sure that their kids really stay away from gambling. They will not shows to their kids when they playing gambling because they don't wants their kids follows what they do.
Parents can sits together with their kids and talk each other to have a warm relationships and makes they have a closer relationships. But the fact is not many parents can do this because many parents have busy with their works so they don't have much time with their kids.
That can makes their kids feels alone and will gets closer with their friends which can gives a bad impact to them. Parents can't educate their kids with right if their kids is not closer to them and their kids will have a rebellion to their parents and makes things worst.

That's a challenging aspect of such a societal problem. Most families handle two jobs just to meet up with their family financial responsibilities. Parents rarely get involved with their kids due to business and work. However, the workload doesn't occupy the whole day for a gambler. It's all about fatigue and tiring work activities that really separates parents from teaching their kids. Amidst the difficulty some gamblers who make out time still, to play games can funnel the energy towards tutoring their kids. Maybe make out time twice a week to help the kids stay away from wrong influence. Those who then due to whatever reason it is, gamble in the midst of their children are to be cautioned to stop it.

This won't be as a result of being busy in the office or anything else. It's all about negligence and a poor parental training. I do see them as people with symptoms of compulsive gambling. Kids requires consistent training to learn and once they do, It sticks to their brian for a long while. I could, myself, think of some early training received at a tender age, indirectly I was told about the need of saving money as a gambler. Due to a friend who was into a gambling activity that consumes his funds leaving him with no funds. So, instead of telling me not to gamble, my parents used the family friend as an example to teach us the bad impact gambling has on players.

Your very right, gambling in front of children can cause them to develop early gambling habits and it could be a trouble for thme growing up cause they would always want to use their money to gamble seeing it as a source to get more miney which is worng, parents should learn to keep habits off children cause childcare learn by observation and would replicate what their parents do.

It's better that way. Although we want to gamble freely in our house, we should also think about the effects that it will have on our kids. I learned it the hard way. I used to curse inside our house and my kids always heard me say it and then suddenly I was shocked that they repeated what I said clearly. I didn't like it when I heard it which is why I stopped using cursed words in our house.
Kids will always observe and mimic their parents because they think it is right or they just want to copy anything for fun. That is the reason why we should not let our children have any clue about what gambling is or how it works. There are ways to do this and one way is when they are away at school or they are already sleeping. We should always be mindful of what we will do when we are near them because they can easily absorb it and copy it.

Because you you failed to teach them the risks and bad aspects of gambling, they may learn it from the street where the may get the bad teaching about gambling which could become a big Borden on the parents in the future.
Actually, there is no need to teach children about the risks if we as parents can hide our gambling activities. In the end, gambling at online casinos is sometimes one thing we have to pay attention to is that our children don't see us gambling at online casinos because gambling at online casinos is good. Using cell phones or computers and so on means that we have to be able to keep it out of our children's sight, so try so that they never see it so that we don't have to give any more explanations to our children.

I gamble at home using a cell phone at an online casino and I try to avoid it where the children can see us at any time while gambling, so it's best to gamble at night where our children are fast asleep and that's the most effective way to avoid the children knowing about gambling on our cellphones, especially since there are many negative impacts they will face if they try gambling, but it all comes back to the parents, how they can control themselves when gambling and not recklessly gamble in front of their children. Whatever children learn depends on how their parents educate them.

That is a point I would like to comment. So you gamble on a cell phone. That is something kids are used to a lot today. If you would switch to a notebook, that will make your activity less curious for kids. That works in my family, and in many others. When parents are behind PC or notebook, that means they are working. When they are on the phone or tablet - they are doing something for relax or entertaining. Other example - when we played cards with friends, kids barely pay attention to it, because they say it is "boring". So the more physically your gambling game is, or more complicated gadget you use for gambling you use, the less curious it will look for kids.

I am not saying that monopoly is gambling. Gambling - a process where money are involved and kids can make reckless decisions. Monopoly, games that teaches investing. Investing - a process where money are also involved. Gambling teaches kids that they can earn through gambling. Monopoly teaches that they can achieve same result through investing.

Ok, you want to discuss negative impact of gambling. Can you name something besides addiction? Because kids or nobody gets addicted to something only from watching the process or from trying. Something must happen in persons minds, to make him become mind twisted on gambling. A person does not become addicted just by doing something once or two times a week. If parents are gambling 24/7 and kids are near, then yes, I agree that this will have an impact on kids mind. But come on, only a tiny-tiny-tiny percent of parents do that.

I absolutely agree with this. I mean, I don't know for sure, but I want to believe that the vast majority of parents don't gamble in front of their kids. I hope it's something so obvious that even if you have no education at all you instinctively know that you shouldn't introduce any risky behaviour to your kids.

~ And we here talk about possibility of gambling addiction and kids maturity to understand certain things.

In my opinion, kids may not be mature enough to understand that gambling can be and should be used for entertainment purposes only. That's what I meant by "to understand the game properly".

That is right. Talk, discuss, explain. Hiding gambling activity is useless, as they will see or find out about gambling anyway. What parents usually do, when kids ask about alcohol? They explain that it taste bad, bitter, they are two young to try and give 100 reasons why they should not try it until they hit proper age. Why not we can do same with gambling? Give 100 or more examples why they should not gamble at young age. And that is it. When there is a party, or event or something, parents do order at least a glass of wine, champagne or a beer. Parents do not hide the fact that they drink. They dont do it under the table, behind the corner or secretly at night in other room. Instead they give explanation to kids. I think similar should be done with gambling.
you cannot do some with gambling because gambling involve money and it is also a something that they can see online and the secondly your children can gamble without your notice but your children cannot take alcohol without you noticing that they have taken alcohol it neither you perceive the smells of alcohol or the alcohol will intoxicate them this is the two things that will make you to know be planned the children in anything that deals with gambling, the advantages of gambling to children is very high and the in time coming it cannot be controlled to children so when I say it they advantages and disadvantages of gambling to children it is very obvious that you know that the child who started gambling when he has nothing how to make the child to involve in stealing when is addicted in gambling

All the things that you have described are possible only in your imaginary world or in very-very ocasions. You might believe it or not, but kids gamble even without learning that from seeing parents gambling. As soon as they get access to the internet, they observe, learn and test everything you hide from them or limit them. Every single video game that is popular among kids and teenagers have elements of in-game purchases and luck. Hide your gambling activity as much as you want, but kids will spend money in something that has a probability of success, random and luck elements. Just look around and admit it.

I would agree that you shouldn't gamble in front of them, and frankly if you don't want your kids to gamble in the future you should make sure that you don't have any gambling addiction and if you do you should seek help and fix it because it could compromise your relationship with them in the future. This could cause you to get divorced, or cause you to have some wild mistake making behavior and you could lose custody of your children, or even much much worse. No good roads lead you to prosperity with bad gambling addictions.

I did not say that, at least I did not mean it like that. I was never a follower of an idea "never gamble in front of kids" (nor I dont follow the idea "gamble in front of them on purpose"). My point was that there is no use to hide gambling activity. It is useless. If not from parents, kids will find out gambling anyway. And that gambling addiction that people always mention. That makes me furious. I mean nobody get addicted to something only from watching. People get addicted to something only by doing something 24/7. If you gamble 24/7 then yes, kids will get addicted with 50/50 chance. Because nobody know what they find interest to in future. If you rarely gamble in front of them, imho chance that they get addicted is minimum. For example parents do other things in front of kids more often (like cooking for example or cleaning), but kids did not get addicted to that. So why gambling is somehow different.

P.S. You can be an anti-hero and gamble 24/7 in front of kids. With high chance, with such constant gambling a person will get broke. So such a parent can be a nice example "dont gamble if you dont want to end like your father/mother".

Instead of letting children gather on the streets, parents should take them to places where they can absorb more culture and knowledge, it will be a fulcrum to open up space for children to explore the world around them, although I do not recommend forcing children to study too much, participating in extracurricular activities is still not a bad choice. In addition, to be able to talk to children, we should live as children but with more maturity, the protective layer between the two generations will be easier to break down and we should still be a good parent so that our children do not stubbornly use us as evidence.
That will be a good solution for those children because they will have a way to use their time to do something that will be useful for their lives. They will also knows how to use their time well by doing positive activities so they will not trying to do something that can harm heir lives. Children needs to understand how they can use their time and realizes that if they do something bad, that will impact to their lives and parents. By giving understanding to that children, parents can hopes their children will grows up without having a problems while parents can still guides and besides them follows their children lives experiences. Parents can reduces their gambling activity because of their children and not to gives a bad experiences to their children.

This point I was searching for because I think it is a very true statement, your kids will most definitely find out that you are gambling if you're hiding it! Kids are smart, they do pick up on even the smallest details even if you don't think they do. They are very observant and watchful, they can spot unusual behaviors & pick up on senses & when they are curious kids start digging. They will ask you questions point blank and eventually figure it out.

I would agree that you shouldn't gamble in front of them, and frankly if you don't want your kids to gamble in the future you should make sure that you don't have any gambling addiction and if you do you should seek help and fix it because it could compromise your relationship with them in the future. No good roads lead you to prosperity with bad gambling addictions.

Make every effort to guide your child & when they are young teach them what happens to people who gamble too much & what can happen. Teach them instead of relying on chance, and luck, which is a lazy effort & requires no hard work or skill, teach them that they cheat themselves doing that & instead teach them to take proper risks with business, and investing, teach them to save their money and invest it. Teach them to work hard and take every initiative you can to try to help teach them what is right.

Talking with kids is indeed very important because with it one can tell the child what is necessary for them and how they handle difficulty in the future as their grow up, it is not good to hide things to kid's such things that are high risks like gambling.

the truth is that it's actually very deficult to engage in gambling activities without our children knowing about about it and if we're being honest, while we were much younger, there were a lot of things out parents engaged in thinking we didn't know about it but we all saw it and pretended as if we didn't only to go back and engage in those things. To some extent, a child that will engage in gamble will engage in gamble wether you hide your gambling habit from him or not, and it's not as though gambling in itself is outrightly wrong but it's just that at a tender age hey might not be emotionally matured enough to go into it as so I feel that the best we can do for them is to guide them through the process, ask them what they know about it and paint a narrative that tend to make them see the effect of being an addicted gamblers which will play a great role in discouraging them from picking interest in it. We forget that just by watching football with our small kids, thier is an high tendency that they understand how sports betting works and that if they have there ways, it wouldn't take time before they start getting involved in it. I now somany young boys in my street that started gambling at a tender age because the guys in the street and obvious gamblers and so as a parents, while you're looking out for ways to ensure your gambling habit doesn't entangle your child into getting involved in gambling at an early age, it's also necessary you know that what they see and observe from your surrending could turn them into chronic gamblers without your knowledge.
We bet while trying to keep our kids out of gambling. Like sponges, they absorb every detail. Despite your efforts to disguise your gambling tendencies, your child will scratch that itch. Not about you betting, but about them getting hooked too young and unable to withstand the emotional rollercoaster

So, what should parents do? Talk to your kids, guy! Tell stories, warn, and answer questions. Explain things plainly. Despite it, the world doesn't help. Sports betting is on TV, in pubs, everywhere. It's too easy to hook kids. What you do and the world you create for your kids matter. The true danger is seeing how easy gambling is and the promise of easy money. Watch your kids, talk to them, and say no. It's hard, but you must defend them

This stage is very crucial, the timing and the effort of discussing things with your kids, I like that idea with informing the possibilities and make sure that every details will be provided, though we all know that in this era there are some parents who are unable to talk that much with thies kids, most of the time they provide devices for those kids and let them explore and all that danger which you are trying to avoid can easily be access by this young generations.

If you really care about your kids, not just to hide your participation to gain their attentions but like you said more on being practical and preparing your kids in any potential harm that gambling may bring them if they exposed themselves to this industry, giving them a good guidance to let them be aware of those many negative side effects, giving details that it's not as easy as what the ads are saying or whatever images that those people around tried to provide but the reality behind is what the parents or the guardians needs to provide in avoiding any possible interest to arise.

But it works in the same way according to many. That "possible" and "might" turns into obligatory. There are parents whos idea is to teach kids investing as early as possible, so they wont miss opportunity to buy "potential next big thing" (like bitcoin) for 1 dollar, and sell it later for 65k (like same bitcoin). On the other hand people say that newbies should learn to trade/invest/dyor. How come kids do that? No how. So they are pushing kids on something impossible. The monopoly is just an instrument of teaching. Like playing blackjack to kill time, while it parallel teach them to count till 21. In the end we get monopoly suited for kids and gambling strongly not.

Again, it's because monopoly is not gambling. Whether trading is actually worse than gambling is another question entirely and we are not discussing it here. This thread is called "Never gamble in front of your kids." and we are discussing negative impact on your kids when you gamble in front of them. Not because gambling itself is bad, but because kids may not be mature enough to understand the game properly.

And how come you be sure that kids "are not mature enough to understand", when significant amount of time and content that kids watch on youtube or games is "killing and violence". Any game that has main character and enemy, one of the game goals is to kill enemies. I notice this all the time. When parents play any game with their kids, all the time I hear "kill that guy", "kill that enemy", "jump on this bug head to kill him" and etc. Instead of "defeat enemy". And we here talk about possibility of gambling addiction and kids maturity to understand certain things.
