Mining with noise and without noise is all possibl
January 23, 2018, 08:50:24 AM
To those that have started to mine.

How much watts is it pulling? Any chance we could just run the APW3++ run on US 110 V?
APW3++ only 1200 watts on 110v. Even if bitmain overstated the draw, which they usually do....you would be cutting it awfully close.

Can someone post the power consumption details about A3 please? Really curious about a possibility to run Antminer A3 on 110V using APW3++....

Tested with 240V. Power is 1450W on wall

@ to Talhart

Hello,
I set up a farm outside the United States of America, with a cost of electricity = 0.06 $ / kwh, and I propose a hosting service for the Antminer at 150 $ / month.
if you are interested, send me a private message to discuss the modality of the service.

Greetings.

They are actually far more worse with their acts than Bitmain, if they go through with a soft fork that only allows using Obelisk hardware.

That would be a big ass centralization.

Forking the Network
The Sia community is currently debating a soft-fork that would exclude all Bitmain A3 units from the Sia network, while leaving Obelisk SC1 units fully operational. We encourage you to contribute to this discussion, and ask that you disclose your status as an Obelisk customer when commenting. Discussion is taking place on Sia's Discord and Subreddit.

Now this is what I would call fucked up Cheesy

They are to slow with their production and because of that they want to fuck over users and customers of SC because they bought a miner from someone else haha

You cant make that shit up
I hope this soft fork doesn't happen. At the beginning, the team said it was a weapon to use just in case the network was attacked. Now things are changing. I saw too many "for the good of the community" arguments that smell bad too. Soft fork has more consequences that what you see at face value, and all sorts of interests are in play...
I bought 2 Obelisks by the way (1 DCR1 batch 1 and 1 SC1 batch 2). So far 0 A3s.

As there is no firmware available yet from bitmain I ask it over here:
If one that received an A3 already can make a copy of the filesystem (tar gz it and SCP) and can upload it to mega and share the link (PM me) I would be really thankful and give a 0.5 LTC or 0.1 DASH reward to the first one sharing this.

I can give it a shot, when I receive my unit from Fedex in Thursday (most likely).  Smiley
I hope to have the firmware earlier then that, but I will let it know in this topic. Thanks  Cool

How do you extract it? I have mine up and running.

You need to have some linux knowledge: login with ssh as root/admin to your miner:

This guide helps you to make a copy:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BackupYourSystem/TAR

later you need to scp the tar / gz file to your windows pc. winscp can do that for example.
Don't worry to mess something up on your miner as the filesystem is loaded in RAM. So a reboot and you're back to the original state...

is it the exact command that back up all the parts you need?
tar -cvpzf backup.tar.gz --exclude=/backup.tar.gz --one-file-system /

Every time I refresh this page:  https://siastats.info/mining_pools.html

The network speed has gone up another 2-3TH. I suspect this will go bonkers in the next 72 hours.

1/22/2018 - Monday
11:57 pm   Arrived at FedEx location      MEMPHIS, TN

Damn, I should have gone with FedEx then. I'm in Memphis, TN too, but mine are scheduled for Wed Delivery. I tried to use FedEx but it keep asking for an import number. What's this important number they ask for? I did a google search for , "bitmain asking for import number", no luck. Were they asking for my FedEx account number? If so, problem solved, but didn't want to guess at that or expect a response from them during the short A3 buying window so I went with FedEx.

Bitmain order ID also seems very simple, maybe it can be used as a way to track how many were sold.

Most of the items are sold out and the only thing in stock is the psu.  I don't think many people would order a psu alone considering the outrageous shipping they charge.

Order format: xxx 2018 01 17 1xxxx

Someone can make a dummy order with the psu and simply not pay for it and we'll have a rough estimate on how many were sold if the order numbers are not obfuscated.

Obelisk January Update:

By now, many of you have heard that Bitmain announced the Antminer A3 last week and has started shipping units to customers. The A3 mines Siacoin at a hashrate of 815 GH/s and power usage of 1186 W. This means that, when the Obelisk SC1 ships, it will not be the first Siacoin ASIC miner to market.

The Obelisk SC1 is slated to outperform the A3, with 800 GH/s hashrate at only 500 W. These are minimum specs, and we expect the SC1 to perform even better than promised. This is good news: based on current A3 specs, the SC1 will be far more competitive.

We are currently on schedule with SC1 and DCR1 production, and will have test chips back in March. If all goes well, we could be shipping Batch 1 units in May, and Batch 2 units six weeks later. Our official ship dates are still June 30 for Batch 1 and August 31 for Batch 2.

Forking the Network
The Sia community is currently debating a soft-fork that would exclude all Bitmain A3 units from the Sia network, while leaving Obelisk SC1 units fully operational. Wire Transfers
Due to large amounts of fraud on our accounts, our bank has asked us to disable wire transfers for the duration of Batch 2 sales. We will do our best to work with our banking partners to re-enable transfers, and add other cryptocurrency payment options to future batches. As of today, wire transfers have been disabled on all new orders.

Batch 2 Progress
We have currently sold 1,350 DCR1 and 1,996 SC1 units. Batch 2 will close on January 31, and we will open Batch 3 soon after.

And, so you can make an informed purchasing decision, we sold 2,963 DCR1 and 3,598 SC1 units in Batch 1.
Thank you so much for your support! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Best,

- Team Obelisk

Wow, this alone will increase current total network hash rate of SC by 10x.

Batch   Model   Quantity   Nominal Hash Rate (GH/s)   Total (TH/s)
Batch 1   DCR1   1350   800   1080
Batch 1   SC1   1996   880   1756   * Assumed 20% more hash rate
Batch 2   DCR1   2963   800   2370
Batch 2   SC1   3598   880   3166   * Assumed 20% more hash rate

         TOTAL:   8373   TH/s

We shall be able to anticipate within next 10 days how much units really A3 have been sold / powered up. For 1000 unit of A3, this will take us to about 1300 - 1500 TH/s total. SC1 & DCR1 will do more damage to profitability and SC coin not gaining much value at the moment.

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked finally shipped. Still no email or updated status on bitmain though.

You can track your package by reference, simply use your order ID

Hello Guys,

I have ordered 2, both still in Shenzhen lol. you guessed it right, UPS it is. With regards to the mining pool, Could you guys please share the list of mining pools for sia and which is the best.

I already one S9 and one L3+, both put together is not making more than 30$ a day Sad. I hope A3 can easily surpass 30$ in couple of hours. cant wait to get my hands on it.

Btw, will it run on a 110V ?. As per bitmain, it is 1275W, which is slightly more than the 1200W APW3++. any comments.
Hi! Sia Discord moderator here Smiley
We recommend Luxor.tech or SiaMining.com as they are both run by members of the community!
However, I strongly support Luxor over SM as currently SM has over 50% of the network hashrate and we want to avoid that.
Here's a full list of all pools (https://siastats.info/mining_pools.html), please refrain from using pools that submit empty blocks (like F2Pool) since they damage the project and are what we're trying to avoid in general.
Also I'm pretty sure AntPool is broken and even if they could get it working, we're pretty sure they'll be submitting empty blocks too.

Hello Kinomora,

Thanks for the response, had a look at the list "https://siastats.info/mining_pools.html" to make an informed decision. First impression, inclined towards Siamining, as it has found more blocks historically than all other pools put to gather. anyhow will keep you posted once I receive the miner. Thanks.
