I think this is fair
I think the restrictions are a good way to filter some spam from the forum. It now requires some effort to troll at least.

It was discouraging to see I had to post 50 times in the newbie section before I could start joining discussions in other parts of the forums, so discouraging I left for a few weeks until today. Hooray for the new(to me) post requirements!

I am a member on many forums and I find it strange they have this "newbie" attitude here ..
My comments are waiting to be submitted to scrutinization against quality control standards. Or something.
Thank you for these relatively lax restrictions. I think they keep it simple enough for a real human being to get started interacting, but smart enough to keep annoying spam-bots outta here! Thanks again.
