I run two thread ripper rigs.  I would not mind having a real state of the art rig.
More for bragging then for profit.

Makes sense.  Would be a beast paired.
[/quote]

Yeah I would run them for a year then sell one to upgrade to next thread ripper.

Going for at least one or two cards. But I want the 3090 more then the 3080

Curious as to the reason/s you want the 3090 more than the 3080?

the less state of the art gpus running out there, the more chance of ROI, plus the earlier it runs the better. just like ASICs but better since nvidia and amd does not run them in farms before selling to the public heheh

even if does not ROI 100%, at 50% ROI you are still a winner (at small amount like 2 gpu only)...but we all hope for the best

a x4.5 to x5 vs 1080ti on other algos, is a winner for me and might be worth the risk, not "all in" for me still weighing and projecting things (subject to change).

Yeah the farm is loaded with a lot of gear.

but I always like to run a few state of the art pc rigs at home.

Pulled these estimates from the site that Vosk used in his latest video which I didn't find to informing.  https://cryptoage.com/

There are some numbers that look like they could do a decent ROI if they ring true and prices hold up.  Obviously eth comes in a little higher than their estimates.  MTP seems to have taken a big drop recently.

RTX 3080 GPU Mining Hashrate (Estimated)

Algorithm   GTX 1080   RTX2080   RTX2080S   RTX 3080 (forecast)

Ethash   40Mh / s   44Mh / S   44MH / s   67MH / s

Zhash   73Mh / s   99Mh / s   111MH / s   327Mh / s

BeamHash3   18.9H / s   26.5H / s   30H / s   88H / s

MTP   2.6MH / s   3.9MH / s   4,4MH / S   13MH / s

GRIN32   0.4H / s   0.65H / s   0.8H / s   2.36H / s

I'm thinking the play may be to flip a few while supply is short to finance keeping one or two and a few amd's.

other algos at 3x hashrate is a no brainer hehe.

let's go boys, time to raid the stores  Cheesy
Count out mtp from equation, zcoin had block halving few days+they should change algo by end of year. There is no other big mtp coin atm

but the new Algorithm could be good.

for me these are a small improvement over amd 5600 and amd 5700 cards.  but that is always subject to change.

if x4 hashrate in other algo for 3090 compared to 2080...let the others mine eth and you profit with other coin$$$$ LOL

Tomorrow we should hopefully get some more real numbers as reviews are allowed to be posted by those that got some review samples.

Looks like some Nvidia 3080 eth numbers have leaked out.  Would have been nice to see benchmarks for other algo's to.

well they are not great.

not impressive I bolded the sane settings and the gear is power hungry it does not look as good as amd 5600 xt. 2 cards of amd will do 80mh at 180 watts

no miner software optimization is not done yet, not going to rule them out yet for eth mining.

considering other algos 3080 might be really worth it. besides amd cards were the original eth miners.

still working on helping my wife recover from 2x pneumonia (covid?) She got it in Jan. Fever is gone but there is lung damage and she seems to have:
 1) endless post nasal drip
 2) hidden acid reflux

Convey our best wishes for a speedy Recovery Phil.
well it won't be speedy as jan to sept is not speedy. But my wife and I will be happy with a slow one. As better late then never seems to be a very good option .  Thank you for wishing her well.

Doctors

doctors.  Some improvements but not quite well.

Plus running the farm and testing a lot of software.

I spent a few weeks testing after market bitmain t17, t17+ ,t17e firmware.
I need to test nicehash os
Need to test viabtc smart mining.
Need to test braiins os for s17 and s17 pro

Have yet to try hive and or hashr8

and two rigs I setup at clifton failed which means a trip back to clifton (150 miles round trip)

Very sorry to hear about your wife, hope she recovers soon.

This year has sucked for sure with everything. I don't think I know anyone right now that is not struggling.

I just started looking at NHOS a bit ago, think I might mess with it soon. Might also try Hive.

It looks like Hashr8 os is gone, like literally gone. Their os page throws an SSL error and now redirects to main blog home page of their site and no longer mentioning the OS? I was just looking at it yesterday too.

I am back online.

Tired 💤 but gear is now set up at farm in clifton nj

I know you use SMOS -- you done any messing with Hive or Hashr8 OS? I've been reading up on them and see they are newer players.

Hive seems to have some competitiveness to me while Hashr8 seems to be less as refined since it's younger.

I have a thread 🧵 ripper 1920x with 8 sticks ram 128gb.

It has three vegas making a few dollars.

Digging this up as I happen to have a couple of thread rippers myself.

I assume you added XMR mining to this rig? I've been on the fence about using one for that. Why the 128GB?

amazon fucked up a listing on amazon warehouse. so I purchased 256gb ram for 600 bucks.

well 128gb for 300 on 2 occasions.

this is a stupid cheap price .  And if I resell the rigs I can get a decent price with the 128gb ram tossed in. as you simply can not buy 128gb ram used or new for as low as 300 bucks.

Damn that's a great deal! -- you see my question about the other OS?

no time.
