yes its malware and tries to steal wallet info. that exact post (its a copy past every time) is been spammed in claymores thread like every day. i always report it and the mods remove it. soon as they do another post, exactly the same, pops up again. i reported this one too.

i removed the link when i quoted this.

Interesting.
The more i read the more i want to install one of this dedicated OSes.
They do underclock/core clocks/mem clocks all on a interface line.

Is it really this simple nowadays? Good Stuff!

EDIT: i think this is usefull https://cryptoage.com/en/1919-choosing-os-for-mining-cryptocurrencies-on-video-cards.html

Which motherboards are you using to run Ryzen 3800x and 3900x?

I have Asus B350 F Strix, but I read that the VRMs are not good enough to run these "beasts"
Any tips?

Using ryzen 1700 here, but want to upgrade, I found a great deal of 3900xt, and the new ones like 5900 will costs more

I have 4 amd 3900x cpus

I have 2 amd thread rippers  3960x 3970x

thread rippers cost too much forget them.

I like my

Asrock x570m

 https://www.newegg.com/asrock-x570m-pro4/p/N82E16813157887?Item=N82E16813157887

I water cool the amd ryzen 9 3900x

I run 1 amd 5700 card on it.

Been many years since the last GPU build i made.

Going to install Windows 10, on the old times had to install MSI Trixx to make the proper adjustments and use cgminer after that.
From what i read just need to install a miner software like CUDA miner and it does all for us.

Any tips on what software to use that makes the underclock and mining on the GPUs?

Jeebus it's not often we get old timers over here in the alt-coin section.

Brings me back to the days I was mining BTC on Bitcoin core client to ARSTechnica's Guild. Couldn't find any of those nice 5xxx cards so had to settle for overpriced 6xxx cards. Those were the good old days.

As Phil set you could grab a new nVidia card to start off. I always like to grab an nVidia to game on if other ALT mining goes to poop. I leave my AMD grunts to the heavy lifting on ETH.

msi afterburner is good.

and you could try nicehash as a pool 🏊‍♀️ to start.

Thanks Phill.

cgminer? Wow you must be a really old timer to use cgminer. When I started back in 2014, sgminer was pretty popular. People back then were mining litecoin type of forks and all my r9 280x gpus were using sgminer. I remember I always liked the layout of sgminer and prefer that style today compared to most miners which just scroll down.

cgminer was way before my time, I don't think I ever used it even once. sgminer is a fork of cgminer from what I understand but what are the major differences? Was it mostly used for mining BTC or was it mostly used for CPU mineable type coins.

I know that most ASICs use cgminer as the same miner software however don't know if any GPUs ever were used with cgminer.

Yeah, can't remember the year, i mined with HD5850 and HD5870s, it was harder but more rewarding than ASICs to be honest.

What GPUs do you have?

Still considering. Waiting for new radeons to come out to make a decision.
I would build one with NVIDIAs right away if they were in stock but that will take a bit more time.

I would do a rig with a few nvidia 3080
if they could be purchased.

cgminer is still being used for scrypt mining in 2014, i think i didn't bother much with sgminer back then because cgminer just works and hash rate are just the same.

anyone been able to get a Nvidia 3080?

I had this one in my cart but could not check it out.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-10gb-gddr6x-pci-express-4-0-graphics-card-titanium-and-black/6429440.p?

Same issue more than a few times for me on launch day. I've given up trying at this point.

Yeah I will get one down the road.
Just because I would want one.

But for now I am power capped.

Newegg isn't even sending me "In-stock" notifications. If people are able to get 6900XT before 3080s doesn't that mean that AMD effectively launched before nVidia  Grin

Moore's Law Is Dead is stating that AMD has put 5700XT production on hold to get 6900XT out the door. I think my chances are better with AMD (seeing as how most casuals only want nVidia - for GPU anyways).

If they do a launch of the 6900xt and it does 75mh-80mh for eth at 110 watts it will sell like mad.

In the meantime I have about 1.835gh mining eth earns about 48 usd a day. toss in a little xmr and some kapow I am making about 55 a day.

If the 6900xt drops at 350-450 and does 75-80mh for eth at 105-110 watts it will be a nice win for amd

The most I've put on a HS-100 running continuously has been 1000 watts on 120V. Having said that, the HS-100 has run continuously for 4 years now without problem deployed across 10 rigs. It's good for people not looking for industrial setups and where the convenience of time saving far outweigh any profits from less efficient setups. The nice thing is I haven't had to do any maintenance on them whatsoever. They occasionally ask for a firmware update which I do after a black out.

Yeah 900-1050 is most likely safe.

I have melted more then one  style of k-watt meter in the 1450-1600 watt range.

The plastic looks a lot like a kwatt meter's plastic
