Yeah! I hate ShroomsKit!
Seems Nxt and other Proof-of-Stake currencies are suffer from lack of trust to the distributed consensus algo. There are some "threats" described e.g.  Nothing-at-Stake, "weaker consensus properties"  Huh and so on. To clarify all claims around proof-of-stake currencies, investigate consensus properties and make the research widely accessible via executable parametric simulations we've started Consensus Research group with  crowdfunding via Nxt AE https://trade.secureae.com/#5841059555983208287 . First results will be published soon including the most clear and formal definition of Nothing-at-Stake to the moment!

Amazing news Kushti.

You should spread this info!

Nominations required for Coins Source award, the Nobels of crypto. At least, so says Coins Source.

Anyway, it is a big news outlet so I think we need to be involved.

Why would I have to re d/l the block chain when moving from 1.3.2. to 1.3.3? Nothing worked with my existing db?

Or, is it because I installed the 1.3.3 superNet version?

Possibly this:

Quote
Updated jetty to version 9.2.4. If unpacking on top of a previous installation,
delete your lib directory first to remove the old jetty libraries.

https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/nrs-v1-3-3/

I think it's only a rescan:

Quote
To repopulate the feedbacks table, this release will perform a blockchain
rescan at first start.

I'm also just guessing here.

It could be an issue with the Supernet distribution, but I am not up to date with that version.

I mean, the horse is out of the barn now. But, when I update I delete everything except nxt_db folder. I assume jetty is embedded into the distribution. I'm on windows btw.

Gotta say how much I love the NRS 1.3.x updates......NRS runs again on low-power stuff like RaspPi and cheap ass VPS and , once the initial blockchain scan is done, shuts down and loads so damn fast. Nice work, dev dudes.

Changing avatars is currently not possible.

Can someone please explain why the initial block processing continues to be so slow with NXT NRS?   Undecided

...as opposed to FIM NRS for example...

Initial == after NRS upgrade? In 1.3.x initial processing is much slower for sure, as disk-based database is used in contrast with in-memory collections in versions < 1.3.0. But NRS relaunching is much faster, as no blockchain rescan needed  Smiley

I guess FIMK code is still based on NRS v. < 1.3.0 ?

Yes.
