Hi Folks. I'd would be really nice if we could get some more trade volume over at ShareXCoin https://sharexcoin.com/market/NXT_BTC. The price there is quite a bit higher than BTER at this moment... I expect that is due to low volume.  But, someone could make a few bucks on Arbitrage right now anyway.

No penalty. Just no chance to forge.  How many NXT do you have forging?

Less than I'd like to, I should probably lease to a pool when I've played enough with it Cheesy

I believe the penalty is a feature of full Transparent Forging, when the order of forgers is known in advance. If you miss your turn, then your forging power is reduced to zero for 1440 blocks. This is the penalty I think you refer to, to stop anyone trying any funny business in their tracks.

At the moment, we have about 50% of transparent forging implemented. It currently works on what you might think of as a prize draw/lottery. When you are forging, you are in the drawing room with your tickets (NXT) and listening to the draw results. When you stop forging, you just leave the room so can't win the draw anymore. When you come back, your tickets are still eligible and there is no penalty. Your tickets still have a specific chance of winning as before and the longer you stay in the room (forge) the more likely your ticket will come up.

This is the best of my understanding, I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong  Grin Anon136 is writing a paper on TF so has a good understanduing of what 'is' and what 'will be'.

Ok, thank you, yeah I was probably referring to TF although I had no idea. I just heard penalty mentioned and was concerned a bit what happens if I 'leave the room' for a few hours Smiley

Can anyone give a hint, if I stop forging for a few hours, turn off my computer, then come back and start forging again, I heard there is a penalty, what kind of?

RE: Ethereum

Is everyone fully up to speed with the capabilites (and limits) of both Nxt Automated Transactions (AT) and Ethereum?

From what I read, the impression I get is there might not be a lot in it.

RE: Turing Complete: (Tabloid style cherry picking follows...)

Quote
Turing Completeness has no real value for crypto systems, it's mainly used as a mystical totem to charm investors and the general community into thinking that they've got something useful (they don't).  The term 'Turing Complete' has been part of the Bitcoin literature for some time- because they advertised the scripts as being specifically *non-Turing Complete* as a feature!  it wasn't a limitation.

Source: Read the full context discussion @ https://nxtforum.org/automated-transactions/ats-with-fsm-based-dsl/ Skip the bits you don't understand, especially the first post (just like I did  Wink   Grin ) I think l8orre's post is the most comprehensible when talking about Turing Completeness (though it is still too abstract to my mind to grasp...)

I have the impression CIYAM (AT developer) isn't too worried about Ethereum either but he might want to correct me  Grin

RE: Fee discussion...

Hubs will set tx fee by using Hub terminal announcement transactions ("minFeePerByte" field).

That is a good idea, I think, how to get this idea (market price) implement in the nxt core?

Hubs have to announce their terminals to receive transactions to, they'll also announce what fee they charge per byte. This is already implemented.

Source: Come-from-Beyond's posts on Nxtforum.org from June 1st ish.

Edit: For clarity, this means is there will be a minimum fee based on a "Nxt per byte of information", set by the hubs that process the transactions.

Hubs are likely to then compete for transactions, while covering their costs, and a market rate for transaction fees will be found.

This will also act as a spam prevention mechanism as spamming the blockchain will have a linearly increasing cost.

Can someone please send me some NXT to get started? Faucet for some reason doesnt want to send anything.

They are less than 6 cents. Why not spend a buck or two?  Smiley

Maybe he doesn't want to go through fiat-bitcoin-nxt process for just 1-2 bucks ;P

I have just seen you some NXT, should be OK to test it. Remember to secure your account sending one nxt somewhere/registering alias/w/e.

DLXS

Exactly, Thanks for helping me out! Im just find out about NXT and am playing around with it Smiley.

Hard to believe a senior member just found out about nxt!

Welcome none-the-less. Just sent a few...

Haha, yeah well it's hard to keep track of everything, especially all those alt-coins. I have been playing around with the nxtra client and I'm really liking it.

By the way thanks a lot!

Edit: check out the asset exchange: http://nxtblocks.info/#section/assets_exchange

To add an asset on the client (v1.1.4), select in the top right corner of AE tab, "add asset" button and add asset account number from the above link. Buy some love...or not.  Cool

Hey guys, just want to let you know that the nxt market is now live on ShareXcoin: https://sharexcoin.com/market/NXT_BTC
while you are there check out Qora, the latest development from BCNext that will overtake NXT within 6 months. Don't say you weren't told.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-qora-released-16-may-100-pos-new-source-522102

We have already heard about Qora. Thank you very much.  Nxt will be #2 ahead of Litecoin in six months. Good luck chasing.

And BXNect has nothing to do with Qora, but even if he did who cares? BCNext isn't the one who brought Nxt to #3.

[quote author=EvilDave link=topic=587007.msg7085805#msg7085805 date=1401697169Sadly, mate, Ethereum probably won't. Ethereums current launch date is 6 months away, look how far NXT has come in the last 6 months. NXT will have a full years lead time on Ethereum by then, and that year is important. Ethereum may well be technically superior, but by then NXT will dominate the 2nd gen space.
We'll see....interesting times, anyway.
[/quote]

NxT and Etherium are different markets.

There are areas that Etherium is going into that NxT won't ever go near. They are about as different as the clothing industry and the machine tool industry.

I agree that NXT will grow and have a well established client commercial base in 6 months, but Etherium is a very different type of technology that is unprecedented. So its market will be unprecedented as well.

2nd gen's are not like currencies - they're more like services. There'll be loads of them facilitating different sectors and product types. There is no need for one to dominate and others to "fail". They just are what they are all along side each other - like web services.

Well I hope you guys are happy...  I've been so immersed in Nxt culture for the past 5-6 months, that we've come up with official 'positions' for ours dogs when my wife and I take them for walks.  One of them Fogres (he likes to fogre/run ahead), and the other one likes to Hodl (he likes to stay behind and sniff stuff).  We'll be like, "Oookkaay Wilbur, enough hodling.  Lets go!"... We get a kick out of it.
