Keeping funds on BTER has a higher payout than forging. Risky though because you need to trust a 3rd party. So not recommended

it would probably take about 10 weeks to find a block with only 5000 nxt. that block could have up to 1000 nxt in it if someone registered an asset, but most likely it would have between 0 and 25 nxt.
*edit* forging will not be profitable until the demand for space in blocks exceeds the supply.

Your balance takes ~24 hours to be fully confirmed. It's there, you can spend it, but you can't use it for forging, for example.

Over 450,000 NXT have been traded in just the last 5 hours on the NXT AE for the NEMstakes. That is a huge volume and I am pretty sure is NXT's first seriously traded asset. The NXT AE has been working flawlessly without a hiccup for large volumes and regular trades during the last 5 hours. This proves that the NXT AE is really a worthy product. I bought Maidsafe through Mastercoin, and I can tell you that buying and selling NEMstake on NXT AE is a much smoother operation. Great job NXT developers. Saw many complaints regarding NXT distribution but take a look at bitcoin, you'll see it's even worse:
- 0.87% of bitcoin adresses own 99.11% of ALL bitcoins
- 1.91% of NXT adresses own 95.27% of ALL NXTcoins
