Ignis comes at the moment of the launch - which will be end of November or beginning December.
Best keep your NXT in the wallet. You can do this by downloading the software, or if (it's not a huge amount) use the online wallets at mynxt or the nxt light client on jelurida's page.

$300 per coin? That would be four times the current Bitcoin cap... I mean... I don't see it in the next 10 years.
Ardor could do quite well. And Ignis - which you get for your NXT. It will multiple in value, I'm quite sure. But who can really see even 2 years ahead in this space?

There are two way of obtaining Ignis:
1. Participate in ICO. Straight in the client there is a link on top of it where you can buy JLRDA MS currency with your NXT. When Ardor mainnet will go live, for every JLRDA purchased, you will get Ignis on 1:1 basis.
2. Just keep your NXT in the account you control, and when Ardor mainnet will go live, you'll get 0.5 Ignis for every NXT in your balance and will still have your NXT. Thea same passphrase will open the same account in Ardor, so keep your passphrase safe.

Is there a Nxt light wallet around? I have spent a day now to download the entire blockchain of the full client and there are still 150k blocks left. My current internet connection is not the best. To bypass this I would like to use a light wallet for urgent transactions.
edit: Thanks I found a way by updating the nxt.properties file at parameter nxt.isLightClient from false to true.
