By the time if Shreyas Iyer, Rahul, or Kohli had performed well the match could've gone even closer to win.
It could have been another successful chase India as they did back in the day. I was hopeful that India will win till Hardik was there. He played an extraordinary match although he couldn't end it well.
Hardik Pandya turn out most useful for the Indian Team eventually but yesterday were failed. I believe he could manage but indeed it was a big total. He is very aggressive and this temperament should continue when team is needy. Pandya continues to be an asset for India and his return in the bowling department can be proved crucial.

Australia made too many runs and it was always difficult for the Indians to chase them and that too on the Sydney cricket ground. We cannot say yet who will win the series and India also played well to make 308 runs in the chase of 374 runs.

The Australians prepared a very flat track, which offered no special assistance to the bowlers. Both the pacers and spinners went for plenty of runs. Yuzvendra Chahal had his baptism in fire, on his first trip to Australia. One interesting thing is that the Australian pace bowlers (with the exception of Josh Hazlewood) looked as if they are out of form. This is a bad sign for them.

What a start by Australia. I won't be surprised if they decimate India in this ODI series through a 3-0 win. The Indian fielding was pretty bad through and through.
The same sentiment here, i am expecting Australia to dominate the series and it was a really good start for the tournament. I was worried when there was a partnership going on in the middle and they put on a century partnership and with their reputation they could chase a score but once Shikhar Dhawan got out then i was sure it is impossible to chase the score as the tail order is really weak.

Chasing any total close to 400 is a difficult task for any team but like you I also think India played well to reach over 300 runs after losing quick wickets. After losing 4 wickets within the first 15 overs is always going to be hard to chase down a huge target. I think we also need to remember that the team still need time to get back to match fitness as it has been a crazy year for all sports so I do expect India to come out and play much better in the next ODI match. Yes I know that most of the players have been playing in the IPL so they should have match fitness but IPL and International cricket is different in my opinion.
The lack of middle order performance is the reason for the loss of the match. By the time if Shreyas Iyer, Rahul, or Kohli had performed well the match could've gone even closer to win. When the match gets closer with the available ball and runs required, the players get positive hope of winning. Here during the last time the difference was high and isn't easy reachable during the end time.

As expected, Bumrah has retained his form in the T-20 format, but not the ODI and test formats. On the other hand, Shami was brilliant. The Indian team's new jersey doesn't look great which is why I hope they revert to the old one soon.

With Kohli out of the picture soon, can India really prevail against a monstrous Australian side? Very difficult scenario in my opinion.

Personally, dint like the tshirt much as its very dark. Also, this is similar resemblance of India wearing in 1992 world cup as well. Talking about match, India played after 8 months of International match and that too in OZ which is never easy for India winning the match out there. OZ won this game easily in end, but can expect some better performance and close matches in the remaining games.

Yeah. It's a large gap between team India playing an ODI match and the players may need some time to adjust with the team and the opponent. The game was not entirely one sided and as they get along, I expect closer competition in the coming matches. For limited over games, it would be much more unpredictable as all players would be on similar grounds as all of them are playing some sort of T20 games recently.

People would get used to the jersey. I felt the same last time they changed it but it went okay.
What was not okay was the game from India. They tried to follow but couldn't imitate the Australian batting lineup. They have been struggling to get wins in Australia and New Zealand for some time and specially when playing against Australia. I think 3-0 clean sweep is likely. On T-20 India would surely give some challenge.

If Dhawan or Pandya gets out now, the target will be unachievable. Virat got out too early and even Iyer proved disappointing. If Virat was on crease, the target could be achieved still as the RRR is not that high but 8 but without him, it doesn't look they will win this match.

Why so much dependency on Virat? India can't depend on him to win everytime. Other players also need to perform, during crucial matches. Shikhar Dhawan got out just now and India are struggling at 229/5. For me, there is zero percent chance for India to win this match. Still, I would like them to bat for the remaining overs, and get used to the ground conditions. It would help them for the next match.
Need 94 from 26 balls which is literally impossible to score when only tailenders are at the crease. Indians are playing in the overseas condition after a very long time so it is not really a worst performance but they could have been performed better.

There two set batsman Dhawan and Pandya right now on the pitch and need another 185 runs next 132 delivery.
Dhawan and Pandya are building a good partnership and Dhawan needs to increase his run rate rather than wasting the balls and build the pressure on the other end and there is only one Ravindra Jadeja left to bat and then the three players after that have a combined batting average of 18 and hence the only solution is for Dhawan and Pandya to take the game till the end rotating the strikes and scoring boundary every over if India needs to win  .

If out of both any one of them stays on the pitch till last the match could be finished easily and can be won by India. One problem I forsee here is if OZ manage to bowl 1-2 overs conceding just couple of runs then NRR will shoot quickly and already RR is 8.5. So this will just add more pressure on both batsman and in process of hitting may lose wickets easily.

India are in a very bad position right now. 374 is a monster target and it's going to be very tough chasing this down unless the Indian batsmen string together mammoth partnerships. Shami and Jadeja were the only decent bowlers among the lot.

Smith and Maxwell back in form after a underwhelming IPL season. The first 2-3 wickets in the Indian team will probably decide the outcome of this match. Epic start by the Australians.
You're very right, win probability at least indicate that. Australia looks very strong, despite this monster target India were failed to responds at opening order in 50 overs game when they have to take it more seriously. Keep calm mate. If Australia give a target to India on 300 runs, then India has the potential to win the match. India have some great batsmen. The Indian team today has 5 batsmen and 2 allrounders. All the 5 batsmen in India are in great form. Everyone played very well in the IPL. I think the match is still unpredictable.
After looking at the Indian batting line up i had my doubts and once Australia scored 374 runs i knew it is not that easy to chase this total even if some of the Indian players in the team had a great IPL and i was curious to see how Kohli pace the innings as he is the best batsman while chasing and if he could take the team around 260 runs then they have the stroke players to take the team home but luckily for me Hazlewood did the trick picking Kohli and Iyer in one over  Cheesy.

That will work, if the target is around 300. Right now they are at 226/1 after 37 overs. By 40 overs, they would be around 250 and scoring another 80 runs in the last 10 overs is not going to be very difficult given the fact that they have lost only one wicket. Right now, Steve Smith is scoring at a rate of around 1.5 runs per ball and 330-335 is going to be very much achievable.
