Why Pakistan!! why? 17/3

When everyone else was bullish that Pakistan is a strong team and  with England not being in their full strength, they should have advantage, I had already shown my concern over the Pakistani team performance  Cool

Britainia and ICC making out of this match as ODI but this is T-20 format for Pak. Aapne ghabrana nahi hai, Pakistan still can win this game, Hasan ali got 6 overs and he's capable enough to broke top and middle order with his iconic celebrations, and not to forget he's bhangra expert as shown at wagah border. So every thing is going according to plan.

PS : Punters you're fucked... Winks lol

Yes, i just heard this news yesterday and you can say its both good and bad news for the Pakistan. Good in the sense that they will be playing with a relatively low strength team which makes their chances of winning bright but at the same time if Pakistan still lose the series, then people will more blame them as they are unable to win from B England team.
Yesterday I made an early bet on Pakistan team after hearing that news. Odds was favorable for Pakistan but now it look like I made a mistake. Most probably Pakistan going to loss the match today. They batted very badly. Although ball swinging nicely in that pitch. We might see a different result if Pakistan can create pressure on England batsman.

LOL.. Pakistan at 130/8. After the thrashing Sri Lanka received earlier, now it is the turn of another Asian team to get whacked in England. And this time England was without their regular players as well. Ironically, the player who did the most amount of damage (Saqib Mahmood) is eligible to play for Pakistan as per the ICC rules (although I don't think that he'll be willing to do so), since his parents are from that country. Usually in overseas conditions, it is Babar Azam who bats like a one man army. But today he got out for zero and it was left to Fakhar Zaman to take Pakistan to a decent total.

Pakistan 66/4

Under Stokes' captaincy, a new-look England has made a stunning start and a horrible start for Pakistan. I must say Pakistan is in a hurry after losing two wickets in first three deliveries. Let's see if Pakistan will fight to the end. Apparently, winning the series will be a difficult task for Pakistani team against English side.

Fakhar Zaman trying really hard to give some respectability to the Pakistan innings. So far he has scored around 60% of the runs in Pakistan total (51/4). Saqib Mahmood and Lewis Gregory got the entire top order cleaned up within the first powerplay. As suspected, Pakistani batsmen seems to be suffering from lack preparations (can't blame the PCB, because it was difficult to organize warm-up matches due to the COVID situation). The 5th wicket partnership between Sohaib Maqsood and Fakhar Zaman has so far added 32 runs.

@Vishnu.Reang County and LOI are different IMO but fair point.

@pakhithebossFair  Practise do matter, let's see what happens. England is bowling...

This is a roaster for the both teams. I only recognize 3 (Crawley, Malan,Stokes) English players in the Playing XI and 1 (Lawrence) in reserves.

Pakistan squad seems very familiar.

Edit 1

Lol 2 wickets in first over of the inning.

Some English regular players are out of the series due to covid and we are going to see new faces in the team, without any practice game, so slight advantage to Pakistan but again its Pakistan.

Absolutely you cannot rely on a team that is best known for its inconsistent. Pakistan team has lot of talent but most of them get wasted when they actually need to perform on the field.

The county championship is ongoing right now, so I would not say that the England players are without match practice. Still, some of the players would be making their debut and they will be under a lot of pressure.

Practise does not matter on the field what matter is how to be calm and consistent. You can only achieve that with experience, new players will not be as effective as the seasoned one could have been.

English's bench strength is good but this is almost new team (New bowling line up) for them and new skipper Stokes need to bring his A game against good Pakistani team.

That said, I don't think that in terms of match practice the situation is any better in the Pakistan camp. They failed to organize any warmup matches before their first outing against England (the same mistake that India did ahead of their WTC final against New Zealand). Anyway.. less than one hour to go.. let's see how it turns out for both the teams.

Coming back to  Eng vs Pak series, Pakistani team is not weak team like SL and they got excellent record and very competitive in English condition but again we are talking about Pakistan here so nothing is sure as they're are unpredictable.

LOL.. it's true. Pakistan is like the most unpredictable team in international cricket. On their day, they will be able to beat teams such as India and Australia. And when they are not in form, they will go down to teams like Ireland and Netherlands. On top of that, they remain heavily overdependent on Babar Azam as far as batting is concerned. They're a lot more stable as far as pace bowling is concerned. Fast bowlers such as Shaheen Afridi are capable of handling the pressure during tough situations. Spin bowling is still a concern, though.

The rest of the teams should rise to the other teams, if you look back West Indies had a time when they dominated world cricket and Australia always had good teams and they all rely on fitness and now teams like India is taking fitness seriously and so is the reason they have risen to those levels like Australia used to play and the rest of the teams should find the talents and rise their level to compete with the top teams.

Tehe issue is that for some of the teams like West Indies and Sri Lanka, the talent pool hasn't increased when compared to the other teams. Along with countries such as New Zealand and Zimbabwe, they have small populations and therefore finding enough talented players is always going to be a challenge. In the case of New Zealand, they have benefitted recently from the influx of players from South Africa. After the removal of Kolpak loophole, now New Zealand seems to be the preferred destination for the South African players. Else they too would have found themselves in the same stage.

The game of cricket is now limited to New Zealand, England, India and Australia. There is no continuity in the performance of the rest of the teams. If the series between the big teams is not held, we will not see a more competitive series. Most matches are one-sided. If these teams perform well in one match, they lose badly in the next match.

I would say that the gap has increased between the big 3 teams (I would add New Zealand as well) and the rest. But that said, I haven't noticed any sharp reduction in the popularity of the sport in countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Cricket remains as the most popular sport in South Asia. If you are looking for reasons why the quality of cricket has gone down in these countries, then it has been a topic that was much debated previously. There are a combination of different factors - financial troubles, corruption, lack of quality domestic leagues.etc.

@bryant.coleman you’re correct as Pakistan definitely has some match winners, and if they all fire then England may find them difficult to beat. However at the same time I wouldn’t underestimate England B team too, because this series gives the fringe player’s a chance to claim a spot in the playing 11 hence they may just be able to stun Pakistan, therefore we will have to closely observe how the match goes before wagering on it.

England's strength is with their reserves. Without any doubt, I would say that they have the best domestic cricket system in the world and this helps them with the player pool. None of the other domestic tournaments can match the quality of English county cricket. Australian domestic system comes a distant second. India has too many teams, which dilute the quality, and the quota system destroyed South African domestic cricket. And the New Zealand domestic system is alive mostly because of imports from South Africa.
English team got talented players in limited over cricket, in this format they can win any where. In tests they're force to reckon with if playing at home condition but average when playing in Australia-NZ. And below average when playing in India. As far as bench strength goes England and India leading without any doubt. Interestingly in last WTC cycle India was the best touring team.

Pakistan is not in a very bad situation, at least when compared to Sri Lanka. So I expect them to put up a credible performance. Unlike the case with Sri Lanka, they still have a number of world class players, such as Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali. Anyway, the first ODI match is scheduled for tomorrow and this series is very important for Pakistan (because it is a part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League). England is at the top currently, and they don't need to worry. Pakistan has 40 points from 6 matches till now, and another 10-20 points in this series would be good as far as they are concerned.

Heard about some of the Sri Lankan team players getting banned recently and I am not surprised. Their team situation just keeps getting worse and worse. Looks like the Indian 'B' team will destroy them.

It is not unusual for cricketers to have mental issues.
This was an old scandal. What he did regarding his ex-girlfriend was completely messed up. Jayasuriya will always be a legend in the world of Cricket, but his character sucks in so many ways. I only respect him as a Cricketer.
