Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!
I did not expect England to struggle chasing a score of 294 runs, Bairstow is playing a Test innings with a strike rate of 43 which i never expected and the run rate is just 3.18 and Australia is bowling really well especially Hazlewood and Zampa and putting pressure on England by picking wickets on regular intervals and if England wins the match from this position i would be surprised as someone needs to play a special innings.
Right now England is struggling but still they are in as required rate is 8.15 and Bairstow and Billings on crease with Moeen and Woakes still to come we can expect some good end of this match even Aussies doing very good bowling specially as you mention Hazlewood and Zampa both wicket taking bowlers.

England lost the match. No one expected this result once the match was started. Aussie played a good game and come back strongly in the match. For the first time England are losing the series by 0-1. Let's see how they come back in the next match or is this their first series loss after the covid ?

After performing so well in the T20 format, England is once again faring poorly in ODIs. Recently they lost a match against Ireland at Southampton. They are not performing well in Manchester as well. They had Australia at 123/5, with almost all the top order batsmen back in the pavilion. Still Australia managed to score almost 300. I still expected England to win, but right now they are struggling at 76/4 after 23 overs, with the required run rate rocketing over 8 runs per over.

Edit : okay quickly checked the cricbuzz and it seems Australia is struggling right now, no Smith in the team and Marcus Stoinis batting at number 3, even they are not taking this match seriously.  Tongue
I am watching the game but not the entire game. I have my TV in the other room and working in my desk. So when I get bored I watch few overs and then back to work. The Aussies recovered well and scored 295 runs. Now England lost 3 wickets and RR is sky rocketing. Unless they have a T20 type plan it will be hard to get back in this game.

Nope didn't bet, maybe I'll bet later. Just started watching the match, seems like Aussies were previously in trouble but Marsh and Maxwell have got them back into the game. Still 7 overs left, so we might see a potential 300+ score on board.
I have two bets and both against England. Once placed before the match started and another one after England losing 2 wickets. I can relax a bit :-D
I am not watching it live on TV but following it on cric-info only for now. Australia are 259-6 and they have still 5 overs left in their innings. If they could take the score close to 290 and then bowl well, they may still stand a chance in the match but for now England are dominating this match.
So far the table has turned and the Aussies are now in control.

Edit: Smith is doubtful for second ODI as well he injured during practice something head injury.
I missed that!

@Royse777 just started watching the match now and England are chasing a target of 295 runs, and they have already lost the wicket of Roy which should boost Australia’s confidence. @Swordsoffreedom England have the home advantage against Australia, and if England’s batman’s manage to make solid partnerships then Australia will be in trouble, however it’s too early to predict that Australia will loose this match.
There are no partnership so far. In fact, they are 4 wickets down now LOL

In first inning first 25 overs completely hold by England but Australia fights good and now they are in driving seat with very good target on board England feeling some pressure as first 10 overs just 22/2 its never been good start Roy and Root both gone but Morgan and Baristow still on crease for very entertaining end of this first one day match.

Edit: England out of match now 57/4 after 16.1 overs.

Is anyone gambling on this match? After winning the T20I series England seems on the top although last match win should give some confidence to Australian squad.

I am off to watch the match and will update if I feel writing :-D

Australia have scored 290.it is not a bad total from Australia team .   .They played well . Maxwell and Marsh played quite better today . But England's team is slightly better than Australia  . I think this score is not enough to beat England. If we look at the statistics of the last 10 matches between Australia and England , England has won 8 match . On the other hand , if Australia could have scored more than 310 , England would have been under a lot of pressure .Lets see who will win th match . My prediction is , England can easily wins the match .

Mitchell Marsh and Maxwell done very good job for Aussies now they are back in this match what a inning from these both completely destroy English bowlers with now very good target Hazlewood is also on target he got his man Roy very quickly now English batting line up feeling some heat as they are chasing very good target against quality bowling.

Because the efforts required to organize such a match are high they are not going to do this for charity. BCCI has become too mean these days.
BCCI have always been messed up in so many ways, but they are still the most powerful Cricket board out there regardless. Organizing such matches when they are dealing with losses is not really feasible for them.

COVID-19 changes everything which is why statistics don't matter too much here if you ask me. I am confident that Australia will win this one since England have already lost Roy and the bowling combo of Starc and Hazlewood is lethal.

After 8 overs, Australia at 34/1. They have already lost the wicket of Warner and now Finch and Stoinis are trying to build a partnership. Unfortunately for Australia, both of them doesn't look confident enough. On the other hand, the English bowlers looks to be in good touch. Both the opening bowlers have done a decent job till now (Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer).

England vs Australia ODI series

-Jason Roy was out from the team due to fitness, he's making comeback. (Already pulled out from the IPL)
-David Malan (No 1 T-20 batsman in recent ICC Ranking) is backup player for ODI.

Jason Roy returns for Australia ODIs
Quote
England ODI Squad: Eoin Morgan (c), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow, Tom Banton, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood

Reserves: Dawid Malan, Phil Salt, Saqib Mahmood

Australia has the same 21 Men's squad.

This was already decided before this twenty/20 series because if they choose right now then surely they have Malan instead of Roy as he is doing good for last many matches and can perform much better then unpredictable Roy.

@Vishnu.Reang you’re right earlier these matches used to frequently take place, but then T20 happened and ICC realised that they could earn more from arranging T20 matches, hence these matches were dropped in favour of arranging more T20 series.

Furthermore it’s pertinent to note that none of legendary player’s have objected to this, or even demanded that these matches be arranged.

Also I believe that ICC board members will choose someone from India or England as his replacement, because BCCI and ECB are powerful cricket bodies, and no other other boards will object to their suggestions.

From what I have heard, they are yet to reach a consensus on the selection of ICC chairman. Complicating the matters further, the election of the chairman needs a two-third majority, and not a simple majority. So if there is more than one candidate, it is not easy to get the required majority to elect one of them. Colin Graves (ECB) looks like the front-runner as of now.

~snip~
I had this bizzare idea that BCCI can have a one match with the current indian team lead by kohli against this team lead by Dhoni
Virendra sehwag
Gautam Gambhir
Vvs Laxman
Rahul dravid
Yuvraj Singh
Suresh raina
Ms Dhoni
Harbhajan Singh
Irfan pathan
Ajit agarkar
Zaheer khan
Its good idea, i would say BCCI should make this type of initiative as some kind of tradition where once a year or may every 2 years all player playing one exhibition game and donate all earnings.

Idea is good, but at the same time I am not sure whether it is practical. Players such as Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid and Agarkar have been out of competitive cricket for so long and therefore they may refuse this offer. Even if they participate, it may turn out to be a one sided match. A better idea may be to split the current Indian squad to two teams.
That would actually kill the main idea of the game. The 80s and 90s kids think that this team was the best team India had. Current squad is nothing when compared to them. This emotion that this team will prove they are best will bring people to the stadium.
IMO focus shouldn't be on competitive game but having some fun and good time, doesn't matter who wins or lose as long as Players and Spectators enjoying the charity game. They should even add some female cricketers too  Grin

I am OK with the female players as well. The only thing I want is an even split of the current players between two teams. Maybe we can have a Kohli XI and a Dhoni XI playing against each other. Lets assume the composition as follows - Out of the 11 players 6 will be current players, 4 would be former players and the remaining individual would be a female.

I don't have anything against players having some fun. But since this is a beneficiary match, the ticket prices may be quite high and those who pay for these tickets deserve to see some quality action out there. Let's have an ideal balance of both.
I think there are two things here, one is a farewell as well as chairtable contribution to society i seriously don't think BCCI will be interested in any of this. Because the efforts required to organize such a match are high they are not going to do this for charity. BCCI has become too mean these days.

The idea proposed was quite new and I never seen anything like that but legendary cricket players are doing some kind of charity or tribute matches from time to time like world XI and Asia XI team but I am not much familiar with when these games are taking place. Is this happening every year?

These sort of matches used to be quite common earlier... but I haven't heard about any for the last few years. I guess cricketers are having very little time for these sort of matches, since their calendar is quite packed with all the franchise leagues. And also, the ICC is showing little interest in arranging them, as they are more worried about finding a successor to Shashank Manohar.
