We still don't know whether the remaining matches will go ahead as scheduled or not. Earlier today, three members of the Sri Lankan contingent had tested positive for COVID 19, and the Lankans were blaming the BCB for providing inadequate quarantine facilities for their bio-secure bubble. Now it is learnt that two of those who had tested positive have returned negative tests, and the remaining member was infected with COVID earlier. BCB is claiming that the earlier positive results were "false positives". I just hope that the tour is not called off.
The tour won't be cancelled. Till now only one player is affected by COVID of both teams. There was something wrong with the other two reports and they have tested negative on their second covid test. The series won't be cancelled unless a large number of players get affected by COVID. Hopefully, BCB will be more careful now about the bio-secure bubble.

Bangladesh won the first ODI today against Sri Lanka. ‘Wanindu Hasaranga’ created a little hope for Sri Lanka but he couldn't fight till the end and lost the game. Sri Lanka is in risky zone of ICC Cricket World Cup Super League points table. They must need a victory at this point.
Right now Sri Lanka stands on the ninth position on the table, whereas Bangladesh is on the seventh position. As said in the above post, each loss will cost big for Sri Lanka. Now it's time for Sri Lanka to take immediate measures to make the team stronger. We can't say just a single player is affected, because we don't know from that particular person who and all have got infected.

It's great to see match is resumed, as who tested positive tuned into negative. Both BAN and Sri Lanka fans wanted something normal to proceed with the series. Hopefully we can see tough and interesting game between this two Asian sides and the ODI series get successfully finished.

Congrats Bangladesh, a very deserve victory at their 1st ODI. Mushfiqur Rahim the named as player of the Match.
I missed the match but as expected Bangladesh won the match without much issue and even though Bangladesh was not able to score huge runs on the board they were able to defend the score easily and the return of Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman boosted their strength in the bowling department as well.

Majority of the players playing for Sri Lanka are new to me and hopefully Bangladesh will dominate the series and win them easily.

Is there anyone watching the match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It looks like a win for Bangladesh. Srilanka has already lost six wickets. Now they're in need of more 114 runs with seventeen overs left. If this turns to be a win for Bangladesh there'll be an announcement of national holiday, because a national holiday was announced earlier when Bangladesh defeated India. Shocked

This time Asian countries were much affected by the covid-19. The series should've been rescheduled prior to today's match. Everywhere these issue with results were there. The match is getting close to the end. With more number of spread there is possible chances of the entire series to get called off. Anyhow after long gap Bangladesh is on the urge to make a win against a team in higher position than them.

After a long time, Bangladesh team won a match. As far as I remember, Bangladesh did not win any of their last 9 matches. Bangladesh is always strong in their own field. No matter how strong the opposing team is, Bangladeshi players are much more confident on their own pitch. I think Bangladesh will win their next matches against Sri Lanka

Both the teams are part of the 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, and are required to play a certain number of ODIs against each other. If they don't play these matches, then they will lose valuable points and that may affect their chances of directly qualifying for the 2023 ODI world cup. And this is more of an issue for Sri Lanka, because they are at the rock bottom of the table now, with negative points. On the other hand Bangladesh is in a very comfortable position, with 4 wins from 7 matches so far.

Bangladesh is always much stronger in their home ground. They are capable of defeating any team on their own ground. Bangladesh's pitches are much more suitable for spinners. If Sri Lanka manages a spin dependent team then maybe they can play well against Bangladesh. Bangladesh will win the ODI series by any means. I think so. The Test and T20 series will be competitive.

No sure about the test series, but looks as if Bangladesh is having the advantage with the shorter formats. In test format, Bangladesh has historically performed poorly. So unless there is a miracle from the hosts, I would say that Sri Lanka is having the advantage. And given the fact that Bangladesh is always overdependent on a few important players, the return of Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman should boost them. BTW, in the fixtures I could only find the ODIs. Test matches are also scheduled for this tour?

BTW, Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka at their homeland on 23rd May. Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman might play in that match. From my view, Bangladesh is favorite on this game and they may get the victory.
Bangladesh fans will be rejoicing as they got their main players back in the team because IPL was put on halt and if Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman was in the team they could have displayed a much more competitive game of cricket than they were able to do and the fans might be furious that they picked IPL over their national team.

I am not familiar with the Sri Lankan ODI team and hence i have no idea how the match will go but i give Bangladesh the advantage because the best players are back in the team.
Would have been great if they were playing 2 test match series too. When playing Red ball cricket Bangladesh is tough nut to crack in their own home condition and give very tough fight to any team. Pak and Ind could be exception, otherwise most of the time every other team struggle against them. Bangladesh still fav to win the ODI series but you can expect tough fight in LOI from the Lankan team.

So it would be better to bet on live matches rather than betting beforehand. Sri Lanka is a weak team and i know they have won World Cup in the past and changed limited overs cricket but now a days they are finding it difficult to identify talented youngsters like they used to have in the past. Bangladesh have improved a lot and they have a few players that would trouble any team if they are playing in spin wickets and i believe Bangladesh would have won if the Test matches were played in spin wickets.

Anyone watching the ongoing Scotland vs Netherlands match (2nd ODI)? After their win yesterday, Netherlands put up a pathetic display today and were bowled out for 171 (Scott Edwards made 56 and Stephan Myburgh 40). Alasdair Evans picked up 5 wickets for Scotland. Now Scotland are 20/0 after 7 overs, with Kyle Coetzer batting alongside Matthew Cross. I was disappointed with Netherlands because they are part of the 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
There is not much fun to watch the game of those teams. And agree with ‘Juggy777’, placing bets at any of those team is fully unpredictable, because there is nothing much to observe about them. Scotland won the match by 6 wickets. Netherlands isn't a good team to compete with the other teams in ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

@Vishnu.Reang I saw the score on cricbuzz but I haven’t watched the match, and please don’t tell me that you wagered on them because I would never wager on such unpredictable teams.

Furthermore don’t get me wrong, but I know very little about them, and just cause they won a single match it doesn’t guarantee them victory in the next immediate fixtures hence you should have been more careful.

An international tournament should be with least possible teams to make each and every match more interesting and exciting. This way I too feel like same format of last world cup will be a good to repeat. But, ICC is following different practices like if world cup is taking place in India subcontinent then they do follow a format which is having quarter-final round before finalizing the last 4 teams.

But, when world cups is being play in England or in Australia or in South Africa, round robin and that lead to finalize the last 4 teams. Not sure why they do have specialized format when Asian counties host world cup.

If you want to call the tournament as "World Cup", then it should be having teams from all over the world. Last time, out of the 10 teams, 5 were form South Asia region. And also, there is no proper qualification procedure, with 8 out of the 10 teams qualifying directly. Cricket claims to be a global sport, and therefore I would like the world cup to be a real "world" cup rather than a South Asian cup or something like that. Even smaller sports have larger number of teams in their world cups. For example, the 2019 Kabaddi World Cup featured a total of 32 teams. And this was despite the fact that Kabaddi is hardly played in any region other than South Asia. Similarly, the 2019 Rugby World Cup featured a total of 20 teams. Why cricket needs to be so exclusionary?

Increasing the teams means these strong teams will be facing much weaker teams which means we can have run fest and easy betting options, other than that it will make things interesting if the matches are not competitive.

Talking about one-sided matches, a simple majority of the one-sided matches in the ODI world cup involved two test-playing nations. If you don't want any one-sided matches, then you need to restrict the world cup to a 4-team or 5-team event. Big 3 + New Zealand can be given automatic qualification, and one team can be selected from the remainder.
I liked the 10 team format that is played last time and it produced some incredible matches and we had some upsets as well and we witnessed one of the best ODI World Cup ever as the teams tied in the end but England was able to hold the World Cup for the first time and India just lost one match and has the best winning percentage in the tournament.

Increasing the teams means these strong teams will be facing much weaker teams which means we can have run fest and easy betting options, other than that it will make things interesting if the matches are not competitive.
