AFAIK, international airways are not fully operational yet on most of the countries and in India they didn't allow any foreigners that might be the reason why BCCI is not interested to take such huge risks to make the players to play on a country where number of cases are huge in numbers. And about the farewell series I think it is unnecessary to conduct at this time because lot of man power needed to conduct a single match so better no need to have one in my opinion.

Almost all the players are currently based in UAE for the IPL. So why can't the BCCI conduct the farewell match sometime in between the IPL tournament? It is just going to take one day. Since almost all the Indian and overseas players are already there, no additional transportation or other arrangements are needed. But Dhoni is going to miss the crowd.

Conducting a cricket match in India is highly not possible at the moment due to covid, that is why they moved their IPL to UAE so I don't think there will be any match/series for MSD retirement and also MSD doesn't want it that is why he announced his retirement silent unexpected way, via old movie song with all his cricket memories.
I still could not fully understand why the IPL is moved to UAE as the matches are taking place without any audience and it can be conducted in India without any audience as well if there is a support from the state government. What i assume is that they are playing in a neutral country so that no one is having any home advantage and if they conduct inside India the travel restrictions might be the issue.
If the BCCI can request the permission to conduct a series for MSD then i do not think that the government will not reject that offer and moreover the PM already sent a note to congratulate MSD and Raina and i think they will bend these restrictions for a match.

I had posted about this a few days back. There are multiple reasons. And contrary to what others expect, the primary reason is related to taxes. There is no taxation in the UAE and therefore both the BCCI and the franchises can save an additional 20% to 30% of their profit. Second reason is that the UAE remains a hub of sports bookies. Some of the franchises such as the CSK are closely linked to high profile bookies. But in the end, this is going to cause a revenue loss for the Indian government.

BCCI has tried their best to held IPL in this year and they have succeeded too. Actually, BCCI wanted to held IPL on this year just only for making money purpose. You know UAE is the perfect place to held IPL on all side. coronavirus infection here is much less than India. on the other hand, BCCI does not have to pay any tax to UAE government. By that BCCI could be able to save at least 20% to 30% money, it is a huge amount.  I’m just waiting for wagering on IPL match. it is really exciting for me.

I doubt he will involve in any of BCCI related jobs in the future, he has lot more opportunities in other fields and also his loves towards bikes is extreme so I guess he is going to do some kind of business related to that in future especially investments as well.

In IPL there is some kind of allocation system is there but not sure is this applicable for staff member salaries and possible he may join with Flemmings to guide future CSK's team.

It depends. Either he can chose for administration jobs, like Saurav Ganguly, or he can go for coaching or commentator roles. Each of them have their own advantages. But it is very premature to talk about this, since he will be playing for another 2-3 years. There is a good chance that he is yet to make his decision. Also there is a possibility that he may end up like Sachin, who is not associated with cricket nowadays.

CSK is backed by very strong financial group so they can afford to have some very talented cricketers in their coaching staff and about MSD its really very early to talk about him as what he want to do in future its completely his own decesion and he is better to talk about this I am feeling like Ganguly he must join as administrative job its good for BCCI as well he is quality leader.

We can all speculate what MSD will be doing next but I am sure it will be related to cricket or nothing at all. Collecting Bikes and Cars are his hobby not his bread & butter. Sachin Tendulkar has also the same passion of collecting cars but he never ventured into it as a business option.

I would love to see him as well but MSD is kind of person who gives opportunities for younger generation so he might give his spot in the next edition as well.
True, but IPL itself provides many opportunities to players through different teams which is why MSD doesn't have to go out of his way in IPL. International Cricket formats are a different ball-game altogether which is why he gave up his spot so quickly.

In my opinion, MSD will retire from IPL along with Raina sometime in 2022-2023. CSK wouldn't want to lose someone so valuable so quickly since his popularity increased even further after his retirement call.

and surely he is also going to retire from CSK soon and take as role of coach.
I don't think he is going to retire as the CSK captain anytime soon. He probably will play for the next 2 editions and then retire in my opinion. If he wanted to retire quickly from all forms of Cricket, he would have done so last year itself after the World Cup loss.

However, he didn't do that which means that he still has some juice left in his tank. This is why IPL is special in so many ways to fans and cricketers.

After this IPL I am sure he will retires from IPL too and I do not think he will get into coaching so soon. He has got a lot of time to think what he wants to do next. I am sure he will remain associated with cricket and would do something related to the sports.

I don’t know why you’ll think that Ms Dhoni will retire post this IPL edition, because IPL only happens only once in an year, hence I believe that he can easily keep on playing for many more year’s until his body gives up. Furthermore CSK would prefer to keep him for as long as they can because of his commercial value, and lastly I’ll be really sad when he officially retires from IPL.

CSK didn't bothered to play with veteran members because in the past most of the veterans like Hayden,Mike Hussey played for CSK and also CSK has been trolled for having more olderer players than other franchise but they showed what experience can do in all the editions. Personally, I agree with him though I know that the majority don't. I felt it was very unfair to criticize Ashwin sometime back when he was involved in these issues. I hope ICC comes up with a rule to solve this problem once and for all in the near future.
I am in favor of running out batsman every time without any warning. The so called spirit of the game should apply to everyone and not just bowlers, educate batsmen that stay inside until the ball release. Everyone's especially English and Australian perceptions need to change on this issue.

Plus ICC should enforce the rule of penalty runs for batting team if batsmen doing this.

An interesting article popped up regarding Mankad with Dinesh Karthik sharing his views.

He has already announced his retirement. If BCCI want to give a proper farewell, then they can announce one of the international matches as beneficiary match for MSD, but he won't be playing in that match. Also I guess that Dhoni is angry with the selectors and the coach, who were indifferent to him lately. He deserved one farewell match, but it will be better for him to settle for a beneficiary match instead.
There were no international matches and if BCCI wants to give him a farewell series or match i am sure MSD will accept the offer as he delayed his retirement to play the T20 World Cup but the delay might have given him the inspiration to retire.

Raina also retired with him so it would be bad idea to organize farewell game for just one player IMO.
We cannot compare Raina and MSD and the BCCI has the authority to conduct a farewell series for the most successful captain India ever had and Sourav Ganguly being the president of BCCI and he was the main factor in grooming and finding MSD and with all these i expect him to listen if they had a conversation.

There are rumors going around in social media, that he will enter politics soon. In Jharkhand, the next assembly elections are scheduled for 2024, and there are rumors that Dhoni may become the CM candidate for BJP. These are just wild rumors and I haven't found any coverage about it in the mainstream media.
Wild rumour... Not a bad idea tho, he's good leader and might become valuable asset for the sports ministry or he could work with the Sourav Ganguly. Let's hope he's not following Sachin's steps, he was $ucking disaster in the Rajya Sabha as Parliament member.

Current ruling party already tried to lure MSD into their party in 2019 itself but MSD is clear with what he is going to do and refused their previous offer so I guess the state will remain same even now and the retirement is not going to change anything.I read he is a good investor as well so hopefully see him in the stock revenues and advertisement activities not in the politics which can ruin the whole reputation which he earned for decades.

I don't think he will mess around with politics though he can easily acquire votes as JSRAW pointed out thanks to his massive popularity across the country. His army background also helps out a lot in this case.

Personally, I hope he doesn't enter politics and should focus on other aspects of Cricket such as commentary, coaching etc since we all know how versatile he truly is.
