Some of the teams got in to very weak groups, while some of them got in to tough ones. For example, Sri Lanka was placed in a tough group along with India and New Zealand. Not surprisingly, they failed to qualify for the Super League. They are now playing in the Plate League along with Japan and Nigeria. Similarly, England was also relegated to the Plate League, as they were placed along with West Indies and Australia. On the other hand, South Africa was in a group which consisted of Afghanistan, UAE and Canada. And even then, they finished at the second place.
I am really confused at the format and how the tournament is progressing, i saw in the news that New Zealand qualified for the semi finals after beating West Indies but i cannot find the rest of the teams that are qualified for the semi finals and if you look at the match ups schedule you will see tons of matches too, if New Zealand is qualified now how come there will be this much matches Undecided.

First of all, there is a super-league and a plate league. The top 8 teams which qualified for the Super League plays there, and those who failed to do so are relegated to the Plate League. So all the 16 teams are still playing matches against each other and this will go on until the positions from 1 to 16 are decided. For example, the playoff for the 15th place will be played tomorrow, between Japan and Nigeria.

BTW, this is the semi-final lineup:

India vs Pakistan
New Zealand vs Bangladesh
Sub-Continent's new generation is ready for ruling as 3 out of four in U-19 Cricket World Cup Semi Final and fourth Afghanistan unlucky in important match fail to give any good impression but now I am feeling cricket heat is going to be more high here as now we have good number of teams for quality matches.

Right now, it looks as if West Indies is the strongest team among all the 16 teams participating in the 2020 U19 World Cup. As of now, they are about to win their super league quarter final match against New Zealand. They have performed well so far, and their pace bowlers have been phenomenal. If they win today's match, then they will be facing the winner of the match between Bangladesh and South Africa.

You need to re-evaluate your statement. You strongest team WEST INDIES is out of the U19 World cup and its the NZ team which progressed further. WI was not able to finish the game and took the match easy in the last 5 overs which caused them the match.

When I made the post, it looked as if West Indies would win easily. And it looks like they got choked during the final overs. At one point, New Zealand were struggling at 8/153. They needed another 86 runs to win. Who would have thought that West Indies would lose from this point? The partnership between Joey Field and Kristian Clarke took the Kiwis to the semi-finals (where they will face a weak Bangladesh) and now West Indies can blame themselves for the missed opportunity.

Is that the case, when i see the group rankings India U19 is leading in group A, West Indies U19 is leading in group B, Bangladesh U19 leading in group C, Afghanistan U19 leading in group D, i am not watching this tournament but looking at the groupings these are the things that is displayed and that is the recent group standings.

He might meant that West Indies had the potential to be the top team, India and Australia are the strongest team and i am expecting them to fight for the title as they have the strongest team in the tournament and they have won multiple times and i am expecting India to retain the world cup as they have a good team to do so.

Another very exciting match in this U-19 World Cup as West Indies which was good and I was sure they will be tough out of World Cup by New Zealand in last 5 overs which is very unusual as I was out with West Indies easy win but suddenly all changes and Kiwis done the job.

After watching today match I can say Indian youngsters can win this cup easily as they are much prepared and good in all fields no other team can face them if they will face some resistance then its only from West Indies as this is another good and talented team which inspire me in this event all others just usual case.

They won the match, but their performance was not error free. Batting first, they managed to score just 233 runs, and at one point they were struggling at 54/3. Australia is not really the strongest side playing in this tournament. If the Indian batsmen struggle against them, then they will be having a lot of issues against bowlers from West Indies and Pakistan. That said, the Indian bowlers performed exceptionally well.... especially the opening bowler (Kartik Tyagi) and the medium pacer (Akash Singh).

India has lost quick wickets and I think they were 140 around and had lost 6 wickets . But inspite of that Lower order did manage to contribute well with bat and helped India to reach 233. This shows that each individual here could be a match winner and no doubt the start was not that well. But bowlers did a wonderful job which helped India to actually win this match and helped them to reach Seminfinals. But Year India could be in finals or even could lift the cup if continue to play better cricket .

Today we have a match between India u19 vs Australia u19 in ICC under 19 world cup quarter-final match and Indian u19 team has finished the group stage unbeaten but now Indian u19 team faces first quarter fina match with australia u19 team. so there are any changes can Australia u19 can spot Indian u19 team at the knockout stage? or Indian u19 team goes through next level?

Quarter final between India vs OZ of U 19 have begun. OZ won the toss and decided to field and rightly so because they have managed to pick up quick 6 wickets of India team for a score of 144 runs in 38.4 . Jaiswal played well and got out at 62 runs and rest of batsman got out quickly and also played some loose shots as well.

Finally Indian team has reached 233,  I think Indian team  given descent target to australia and it's quite disappointing performance from Indian team today because they won the all matches at group level so I expected more than 300+ runs today but they failed in batting. let see how Indian bowlers are going to control australian batting today.

Spectacular bowling performance by young Tygai has nailed OZ to 4 down on a score of just 17 runs. First over of the innings itself produced 3 wickets. And in third over another wicket. India though was able to make 233 runs inspite of losing quick initial wickets. Ankolekar was not out on 55 which helped India to surpass 200+ runs in the end.

Yes, the management should rest all the senior players and let them test the new batch. This will give a clear picture of those who can be part of the worldcup team.

It is a 5-match series and India is leading 2-0. Even if they rest 2 senior players each for the remaining three matches, some of the junior players will be getting an opportunity to showcase their skills. That is, if the seniors are willing to take rest. The world cup is scheduled for later this year and this series represents a golden opportunity to test a few of the reserve players.

~snip~

Rahul is not playing too many games to be rested. If they want to rest someone, then they should do that to the senior players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Mohammad Shami (I am not adding Jasprit Bumrah here, because he just came back from a lengthy injury break). If India wins today's match, then the outcome of the 3rd match will be insignificant. The team management can ask 2-3 senior players to take rest for the third match and can give opportunity to some of the younger players who are warming the bench now.

Rahul is not playing from where did you get this information? Can you submit the source!

I guess @Sithara meant to say that he's not playing all 3 formats for quite some time similar to Virat, Rohit and Shami (Rahul is technically out from the Test Squad) and India just finished 2 back to back Test series in their home season.

Okay I got confused I thought he was referring to today's T20 match. Thanks for clarifying.

Shaw is pure opener. and opens in Ranji, Did open in u19 World cup, Open the inning in the Test Match against Windies.
Shaw performed well in his debut Test series and hopefully he will continue to perform well in ODI, he was banned for drug violation in his young age but the reason was said they popped because of cough syrup which is really unfortunate, looks like the T20 is already set as they are performing well and if they could give the bench players some opportunity it would be great, there are some spots in the ODI team and Shaw fits in perfectly if he performs.
