Bhai, BCCI already does that. Every time kohli skips any ODI or T-20 series, Rohit steps up as a captain and his winning stats speaks for itself. not to mention his IPL gig as a captain, that's why everyone fancy about this scenario.
I consider Rohit Sharma to be a much better tactician than Virat Kohli in the T20 version, Virat Kohli is aggressive as a captain and he likes challenges but when it comes to strategy he lack that and i have not seen him win matches uses strategies like Dhoni does who was a master strategist India ever had, India is not looking to groom Rohit as a future captain but he is more than capable of leading the side in the absence of Kohli as he is established as the captain for a very long time considering his personal performance as a captain.

Sachin was never the same when he was the captain
You cannot compare Sachin as a captain, just look at the team members and the quality of the team when he was the captain and the pressure will get him, if he was the captain with the same group of players i bet he would be a huge success.

Having same capitain for all the three format has its advantage,I just said Rohit is also capable of doing the capitaincy and I don't think BCCI looking for any replacement before the next world cup tournament, just let the players to settle down as captain then they can give better performance.

In that case let the BCCI make Rohit Sharma the replacement captain, in addition to his current role as the vice-captain of the team. In matches where Virat Kohli is unavailable to play, Rohit can lead the team. In that way, he can gain good experience and when the requirement comes he may be considered for the role of permanent captain.

Old article but fits here.

Agree with this, because he is doing exceptional work as captain for Mumbai Indians franchise for many more years so he can able to lead the team, kohli also been captain for RCB too long but not much successive on it.
The main difference is that Virat Kohli performs better as a captain and we never had a captain who shines when the pressure of captaincy is them, Sachin was never the same when he was the captain and so does many but in the IPL Kohli is a disappointment because he is not a better captain in the T20 format as i consider Dhoni as the best captain ever and he will find something out of nothing when you need a wicket and there will be no other captain like that ever again.

sometimes i feel that Rohit should be a captain for India in the shorter format. He handles pressure beautifully when things go south.

I am not in favor of this idea. Let's have the same guy as the captain for all the three formats. Virat Kohli is the most suitable guy for the job and in the past he has carried out his captaincy duties in an excellent and unbiased manner. I don't have anything against Rohit Sharma. He is a nice player, and it may be better for him to concentrate on his batting. Let's have a stable team, with Virat leading the team for the next 5-6 years.

Revenge of what? They just played what they need to. If India lost this match too, India lost the series also. That's why they just gave their best to win the match. It is common to see good match from Rohit if he is standing long time with bat.

LOL... Rohit Sharma would be regarded as a legendary player, if he was playing for any of the other countries. But in India, we have such powerful batsmen such as Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni who overshadows Rohit. The opening combination of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have become a permanent component of the Indian bating lineup, after much experimenting. Considering the fact that both these players are quite young, we can expect this combination to last for another 5-6 years. And who knows, they may be able to make a name for themselves, similar to the Ganguly-Sachin combination.

I consider him great in the shorter format ( Critics might say he struggle when ball moves but its true for every modern opener, for example; David Warner). Legendary tags comes along when batsmen prove their worth in the test format and he's doing exceptionally well in the Test format, at least in recent home season. but i agree with the sentiments over all and sometimes i feel that Rohit should be a captain for India in the shorter format. He handles pressure beautifully when things go south.

Does anyone really think that the West Indies will be able to put up a fight in the third ODI? The Indians can lose to teams outside the Big 3 only if they are complacent. And this was the reason why they lost the first ODI. But now they are back to peak form and we can expect a similar result for the last match as well. The only thing that didn't went in India's favor was Virat Kohli's dismissal for 0. Perhaps he got bored after sitting in the pavilion till the 37th over.

@Vishnu.Reang it’s difficult to say this because West Indies started the series brilliantly by beating India, but in yesterday’s game team India outclassed them in every department hence we don’t know how they’ll perform in the third match. The Indian captains dismissal was a good thing as it gave a chance for other players to step up and perform in his absence, and I feel India’s batman’s performed well in his absence.

That was a completely one sided match. I knew this was to happens after I watched the first innings, where Indian bats mend dominated the game from the starting. 1-1 each, the third match will be crucial and existing, both the team will be playing with a different strategy. I do not forsee any changes in the Indian line up. What do you guys think?

From two matches we know that it is not a bowlers pitch and only the game depend upon batsman more or less . If batting fails the match is lost and if batting gets clicked most likely math is won . India would my make any changes I think to this combination .

Finally Indian team tee revenge with great won against West indies match today because last match has  disappointed to Indian fans. But today match was really great to watch because Rohit and Rahul both gets centuries now series has been leveled as 1-1.
I too had a thinking this match to be a revenge. If I'm not wrong same as this match was the second T20 against Bangladesh. The batting performance from Rohit Sharma looked to be a pure revenge, because India has lost the previous T20 against Bangladesh. In that match the target of 154 was reached in 16th over.

WI players knows the Indian conditions pretty well because they are playing more IPL all around the states for different teams, so don't conclude too early about third ODI.I hope they will give good fight like what happened in the first ODI.

Its not a wonder that Kohli fell for Golden Duck, its just normal in cricket history after huge first wicket partnership which is above 200 runs.

@7788bitcoin it is true that it looks like a script that India is creating interest by loosing one match so that the fans will have a good time and the gamblers will have a good value in one match so that everyone is happy  Tongue. The game plan is always simple, the bowling is not up to the mark as the pitches are flat and there is nothing the bowlers can do about it, if India is able to score a huge total they will win if not they will loose and they know that well and India lost the matches where they lost the toss, so there is a correlation in that aspect too as today too they lost the toss but they were determined to win the match by scoring a target that they will not chase.

Third ODI will be much more interesting to watch since both team one each of first two ODIs.
India always like to be dramatic in all the recent series i have seen, loosing one match and then coming back from behind and winning the series, i have noticed that against Bangladesh and that defeat was really unexpected as Bangladesh was not having their best player in Shakib Al Hasan and yet they defeated India and then they came back from behind and won the series and even in the T20 they lost a match and yet came back stronger to win the series and now in the first ODI they lost a one handed battle and yet came back and won the second match and they will win the final match and the series.
