West Indies are heavily relying on their bowlers in this dry pitch. I think they might have considered the dew aspect in the night. It will be hard for Indian spinners and bowlers.
What do you mean by dirty pitch, is this a bowling wicket in India, if so that would be great, West Indies won the toss and elected to field and looking at the papers it should be an easy match for India as West Indies does not stand a chance against India as they are too strong but they have some bowlers short because of injury but still if India can post a good total they will win the match.

When did I said dirty pitch?
I said the pitch is dry and is good for batting. Do you have an understanding issue?

India vs WI match begins today the first ODI which is going to be played in Chennai and weather is not that great as it might rain as well . India has not played ODI since August and this match could just not be up to mark if WI picks up quick wickets and bats well.

Not sure why West Indies have elected to bowl after winning the toss ? The pitch is dry and Indian batsmen will take full advantage of that. Also, if it rains in the second half, the WI target may get stiffer because of revised targets. Even the Indian captain Virat kohli said at the toss that he wanted to bat first ans was surprised at the WI skipper decision.

According to the predictions, it may rain during the second innings. The side which bats first may get their full 50 overs, and the rain intervention may happen during the second half. The pitch at MA Chidambaram Stadium has historically favored the batsmen, but it is also regarded as one of the spin-friendly tracks in the sub-continent. The last ODI here was two years back, and then Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal had picked 5 wickets between them.

Bhuvi is ruled out of the ODI series against WI and this is not a good sign for team India as one of their main Bowlers will be out of the series and India will now have to look on other bowlers to pick wickets and contain the batsman .
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is plagued with injury all the time and even during the world cup he was injured as he had issues with his hamstrings if i am not wrong and it happens if you are not warming up well and if he was lazy on doing that then it will affect his career really bad, not sure what is the injury now but their top two bowlers are injured as there is no return date fixed for Bumrah as far as i know through media. Even with all these injury concerns from India i still consider them to win the series.

Bhuvaneswar played just two T20 matches so far in the Indian domestic season (and one of them was against the weak Manipur side). This is an issue with the Indian players. Once they get to play a few matches for the national side, they refuse to take part in the domestic tournaments. Especially after the injury, he should have used the domestic tournaments to get some match practice. I agree that the Indian domestic competitions are not as strong as those in Australia or England. But still, he should have played a few more matches.

^^^ Now I am not going to say that Samson deserves the spot better than Pant. It is up to the selectors to decide. But are the selectors doing their job without any bias? I remember the incident in which Hanuma Vihari was picked over Karun Nair, when the latter was in good form. And it didn't surprised me back then, because MSK Prasad (chief selector of the Indian National Cricket Team) came from the same state board as Vihari.
It is the biased decision of the selectors, Sanju Samson was selected for two T20 series and that too against weaker opponents and still if you are not getting a chance to play the game what do you call that, people are selected just to supply water and warm the bench Roll Eyes. They could have selected the retired Sachin Tendulkar instead to have a high morale instead of selecting a player just to view the match live in the stadium Tongue .

Samson should not get demotivated or demoralized. He is just 25-years old and he has managed to get the support from tens of millions of Indian cricket fans. If he has the talent, then he don't have to worry about anything. It is just a matter of time before he becomes a permanent component of the playing XI. The coach and the captain won't be able to ignore him for too long.

But this may harm his chances further, right? Kohli was very upset after all the booing and chants that were directed at him and Pant. It is no secret that he prefers Pant over the other potential keepers, but this particular incident will make him even more insistent on the choice for that slot. Meanwhile the Ranji trophy season has started, and for now Samson should concentrate on that.
The team management has every right to select the team they prefer and we know very well how they select the team members, if you remember Jaywant Lele who was a former BCCI secretary revealed how Virender Sehwag was selected in the team, Madan Lal wanted Sehwag in the team and he wanted the selectors to give an opportunity for Sehwag to play for India but the selectors used to pick Sehwag in the team but will not allow him to play a match and when Gangually was suspended for slow over rate against Zimbabwe they were not even planning to play Sehwag but the persistence of Madan Lal and forcing Lele to take the responsibility along with Chandu Borde gave Sehwag the opportunity to play for India and we all know what happened next as i consider Sehwag to be the best opening batsman in Test cricket and he changed how openers should be in cricket and we all know how Warner thanked Sehwag when he scored his first triple century a few weeks back and he tributes it to the motivation speech Sehwag gave to him while he was playing in the IPL. So what i am trying to tell is the state at which a talent is selected in the team and not because of their merits but because of recommendation.

Indian fans have this problem. I didn't watch game so not aware of this particular incident . As far as i noticed fans were booing Rishab Pant and Virat came in his defense followed by some statement during the press conference. this thingy happened against Bangladesh too when fans were chanting Dhoni.

Booing the players during the game is not something I would condone. I had condemned similar behavior by the English fans when they booed both Steve Smith and David Warner during the Ashes. And more than a decade back, I was disappointed by similar behavior by the Indian fans, during a World Cup match against Sri Lanka. Let's keep the sportsman spirit by removing these hooligans from the crowd.

Well, Booing is a part of the deal i suppose. in an ideal world we can do cherry picking but we are not living in one.

IMHO when someone plays good then spectators chant their name and idolize them, players loves it so they should get ready for booing also. if they want to shut up the crowd then good performance is their only ally, not silly statements. After good performance the very same people will cheer for them without any doubt. so i am up for all kind of criticism, booing, Cheering, sledging etc but not "physical confrontation".

~snip~
I said this in this forum, if Sanju Samson was not selected in the match played in Kerala the entire team will be booed
Yup, i remember that.

Follow up news in India's ODI squad against the Windies, originally it was posted in T-20 thread but new update is regarding ODI so posting here.

Mayank Agarwal is replacement of Sikhar Dhawan in ODI but nothing to excited about i guess, We already know what happened to Samson who was T-20 replacement for the same player (Sikhar). he's warming up the bench.

Some of the Indian fans misbehaved with Virat Kohli during the second T20I (which was played at Trivandrum, Kerala). I agree that Sanju Samson is a good player. But you can't really misbehave with the team selectors or team captain, if your favorite player doesn't get selected. I think Virat was also quite irritated by the crowd behavior and I am sure that this incident is not going to help Samson in any way.

I’m not surprised by the fans behaviour because sometimes in their passion for this game they end up crossing a line, but the players should restrain from giving it back to the fans and let the authorities fine those rowdy fans.

Shikar Dhawan is not going to be dropped unless he’s injured, because he’s an experienced player and Samson will have to wait for his time.

Now coming to Pant I feel he has himself to blame for the boos, from his poor shot selection to not keeping well he’s done nothing to deserve his place in the starting line up. Also if he continues in this way then soon he’ll be dropped from the team, which in my personal opinion should be done sooner than later.

It was not a big surprise, i was vocal here on his exclusion from the playing eleven and the player replacing him was not performing for a long time and time after  time he was given the opportunity to be in the team and it was evident that if Sanju Samson was not selected in the T20 played in Kerala the crowd will express their opinion on the team selection and that is what happened. I know Sanju Samson personally and the bias situation where Pant is giving many opportunities even while he is failing terribly every time under the pressure and still not a single chance for Sanju to play a single game is unfortunate.

@Sashi said that in this forum about the situation if Sanju is not selected and that is exactly what happened.

I agree that Samson deserved a few games. But at the same time supporters need to understand that they should express their anguish in a civil way. Booing your own captain is not going to do any good. Even from the start, his supporters have been pulling down Samson. First it was Shashi Tharoor and Sreesanth who came out vocally in his favor. And obviously there was some backlash from the other parts of India, as the regional equations came in to play. And now I don't think that Indian cricket fans are going to take this incident at Trivandrum lightly. In the end, it is going to have a negative impact on Samson.
