Today we have West Indies and Afghanistan playing their first match and Kieron Pollard is the West Indies captain and Lance Klusener is the coach for Afghanistan and in the tour match Afghanistan defeated West Indies even without the presence of Rashid Khan and i am wagging for Afghanistan in this match as i am expecting the spinners to cause trouble to the West Indies players.
Well Afghanistan is not doing well right now. However things were worse earlier though. They were really struggling when they lost 2 wickets for only 15 runs and not so far 55 for 2.

Rahmat and Ikram made a partnership so far which can give some hope to Afghanistan fans.

Players get more money because there is more interest in these matches and more revenue to be made from broadcasting and sponsorship deals. Also, various franchises are being managed by private corporations or individuals, and not by the cricket boards. This reduces the issue of political interference and bureaucracy by a big amount.
The main revenue is always broadcasting rights as there are more sports channels now and they will be competing with each other to get the telecasting rights and that gives them revenues that they never anticipated ten years back as billions of dollars are made for the broadcasting rights and these are private leagues funded by corporate or billionaires and the cricket board will overlook these tournaments as it will help develop young talents.

There was a tour match yesterday West Indies playing against Afghanistan and they defeated West Indies by four wickets and they were playing without their star player in Rashid Khan and i am confused how that series will be and what sort of betting odds we will be getting but West Indies came to this series without their main players and it is possible that Afghanistan could defeat them in the ODI which is starting on 6th.

3 ODIs, 3 T20Is and one test match is scheduled in this series. This is a "home" series for Afghanistan, but they will play their matches in India due to the bad security situation back home. All the seven matches will take place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Formerly, Afghanistan had Dehra Dun as their home ground, but now they seems to have shifted to Lucknow.

Why these T20 leagues and now T10 league are becoming popular ? It is because it attracts a lot of people, TV viewership and a lot of money is involved in all this. Players also get more money and even those players who are retired from international cricket, their value increases in such leagues and they charge more money as people like to see the old legends play on the ground.

People like to see the results in a short period of time and so is the reason people like the shorter format very much and there is no drag in the matches and there is more advertisement revenue in these shorter formats but i still think that ODI gets much more revenue from media as it has more television air time. The players who perform irrespective of age will get selected in the shorted format and it is good for many players to make money even after international career.

People love games with shorter format more. Take basketball and football for example. People enjoy watching them because they don't have to sit for a long time watching that game and furthermore they don't have to waste their time getting some entertainment.

I totally get it why they are promoting shorter formats of the game more and the popularity of such formats amongst the viewers. In coming years, I won't be surprised if we have l
more 10 overs a side leagues.

Cricketing calendar is always busy specially if you include the leagues matches like IPL or big bash etc. We have almost full year of cricket and there is hardly a big gap where we see no cricket being played.

A lot of the T20 leagues have sprung up all over the world and this is what made the cricketing calendar very congested. Almost every test playing nation (perhaps with the exception of Ireland and Sri Lanka) have started their own T20 leagues and even nations such as Nepal, Canada and Hong Kong have leagues ongoing in their territory. And don't forget about the T10 league (Abu Dhabi T10), which is about to start in less than two weeks from now.

India are on a roll at the moment. Seems like Rohit beat Kohli's record once again. What a start. Am surprised that Samson is still on the bench while Pant is the wicket-keeper. The current squad looks so different without Kohli, Dhoni etc.

There is a lot of competition for the wicket-keepers role and as far as I know, Sanju Samson is not the most preferred player for the selectors. Among the youngsters, the top two choices are Rishabh Pant and K. L. Rahul (although the latter is an occasional wicket-keeper). Both represent powerful state associations, with Pant representing Delhi and Rahul representing Karnataka. Sanju Samson may rank third in this list (provided the selectors are no longer interested in Dinesh Karthik and Wriddhiman Saha).

Apart from them, the player pool is very vast. A number of youngsters are on the fringes, and examples are Parthiv Patel of Gujarat, Naman Ojha of Madhya Pradesh, Ishan Kishan from Jharkhand, Ankush Bains from Himachal Pradesh and Srikar Bharat from Andhra Pradesh. Among this group perhaps Ishan Kishan is the most promising one. But none of them got as many opportunities as Pant and Rahul got. And none of them seems to have any political connection unlike the case of Dinesh Karthik.

I am also surprised to see Sanju Samson still warming the bench and the team management is giving more opportunities for Pant to score runs and if he is not able to score runs against Bangladesh then it will be hard for him to be in the world cup squad, the team looks strange as there is no Jadeja nor Ashwin but Indian is playing with three spinners.

At this rate, I am expecting India to score something close to 190(Random guess). I bet on India. Did anyone here bet on Bangladesh or India?
Bangladesh already lost their first wicket but if they are able to chase without messing up then they will be able to chase this total and Mahmudullah is the key player if they have to chase this total.

Hold on! Kohli is not playing in today's match?
Yup. He deserves the rest and younger players like Samson and Dube are getting chances at last. Chahal is back too. I am interested in seeing whether Samson is better than Pant on an international level.

Also, it seems that Rohit Sharma needs 8 more runs to chase down Kohli's T-20 runs record. These both are simply trading places back and forth these days in terms of records.

Considering that Bangladesh team is not at that par at current moment considring Shakib also being out then it is also a good time for India as well to get the new players or give other player a chance as this will give them experience as well.

From what I have heard, the ICC was planning to come up with a rule limiting the participation of a player to a maximum of 2-3 T20 leagues per year. This would have been a big blow for some of the players, such as Sandeep Lamichhane, Rashid Khan and Ryan ten Doeschate. But as a result of the protests from players, they never implemented it.
Never knew about this. Its a good thing that the players protested since it would suck to not see players like Rashid Khan in SRH etc. ICC continues to come up with trash rules.

If the ICC limits the players to two or three different leagues a year, then obviously the first preference for every one is going to be the IPL. Because that is where the money is. None of the other leagues pay as much money as the IPL does. For example, Sandeep Lamichhane will be confined to the IPL and the Nepali League (Everest T20). He will be forced to end his contracts with Melbourne Stars (BBL), St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (CPL), Toronto Nationals (Global T20 Canada), Nangarhar (Afghanistan Premier League), Sylhet Sixers (BPL) and Lahore Qalandars (PSL).

Shakib was banned for not informing the ICC about bookies approaching him, he was banned for technicality rather than participating in one and Bangladesh playing without their start player what chance do they have to win against India, if weather is not an issue i think about a complete domination from India  Wink.

That means he is not playing!
Well unfortunately for Bangladesh and yes I really do not see any resistance for India now. They have their ground, their supporter, top class players so they should have some easy win.

Hold on! Kohli is not playing in today's match?

If the ICC does not restrict these players participating in these leagues then gradually we will see players preferring these leagues than playing for their national team and we will see a situation like football where it will be hard for them get their top players for only major international tournaments and the ICC must intervene and do something to preserve ODI as well, now they are trying their best to revive Test matches and there will be a time they will try to revive ODI in the future Cheesy.

It is November already and in around five months the IPL13 will start. A lot of cricket is ongoing now and the cricketing calendar has got very crowded. It is difficult to track all these tournaments. After the IPL, in a few months the T20 World Cup will be starting. And immediately after that, we will be shifting to the 2019–20 Big Bash League in Australia.

The past few weeks were also pretty crowded, with the South African tour of India, Sri Lankan tour of Pakistan and Australia, T20 qualifiers and the ongoing ENG/NZ and AUS/SL series.
Phew. I don't need to check online about any upcoming Cricket matches since I would only need to ask you. Good stuff. The year is almost over and my best Cricket memory from this year would be that insane and controversial World Cup ending.

All the countries are starting their own leagues and there are so much players needed for every tournament and it is good for cricket players who are flashy as they can make a living playing cricket around the globe and i think ICC will come up with some restrictions in the future to have some control so that International cricket will not get affected.

I see from tomorrow India vs Bangladesh series. I heard this news that their Shakib is ban or something? If this is true then I do not think Bangladesh will be able to give a fight against a team like India.

Its very few days actually where there is no big leagues or any series happening in the calendar year if included that IPL or big bash. Though IPL is much bigger than Big bash. So for people who are fond of cricket would be occupied quite often and also those who want to bet will have something or other daily.

IPL itself stretches for 2 months every year, and during that time all the other international cricketing activity comes to a halt. And now they are planning to expand the IPL by increasing the number of teams from 8 to 10. The ICC is not going to be happy with it, as it leaves them with less duration to schedule the bilaterals and the global tournaments.
