Cricket is not about making personal achievements and personal records. It's a team game and required a team effort to win the matches. Gayle, if he is not in a good form should retire from one day international. He should not wait for 300 matches or other things which resemble personal records.
Seriously? The majority including me do not want the Universe Boss to retire yet because we still wish to watch him continue playing for some more time. No one can force these legends to retire which is why I disagree with you here. Its their personal decision at the end of the day.
Every sporting events people remember these personal achievements and why is it a bad thing, he is playing his 300th match while 99% of the population are not even talented enough to play one international match, cricket is the only group sport that has stats and records and we can remember because these are celebrated and the fans remembers those moments, if Gayle wants to retire let him do so why would anyone dictate what to do with his career and if he is not that good or performing badly the selectors will not pick him for the next match or series and you cannot find a replacement for Gayle that easily.
I agree with your statements except for the 99% part which is a bit far-fetched. There are many talented cricketers around the world which represent a far bigger percentage in this regard.
