India are still struggling for the 4th position batsman and don't know why they are busy experimenting with new batsmen instead of going with the experienced batsmen Rahul. If they are going with Iyer, I don't find him a better batsmen.

Rahul was given enough chances, and now they should give some opportunities for younger players such as Sreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant. Rahul's performance in the world cup was not up to the mark and in India there is no dearth of young talent to fill the no.4 position. Also, the matches against WI represent an ideal opportunity to test some of the younger players.

Suresh Raina went through a knee surgery recently. Feel really bad for him since he was dropped from WC and now has no upcoming matches too. Does anyone know which match he'll be playing next. I barely see him in ODI and test matches now and he's not even included in this test series against WI.

Surgery was successful.

I like him as a person, very down to earth kind of guy off-camera and real life. He used to be very handy cricketer for India as well but his career almost finished when he didn't perform according to his reputation in England tour. And we are not going to see him in blue jersey ever. Even if he gets the new opportunity to play for India (very unlikely)  Then his format is T-20, not ODI or test format.
Here is latest picture about Raina all his fans and cricket community waiting for his quick and positive come back in cricket ground

Guys! 2nd ODI in few hours. I may not be able to watch it. For last two days I am having some busy time in personal life however I will try to hangout here once I come back home. Not sure when I am leaving.

By the way, it's Gayle's 300th ODI!

I was shocked when he dropped his captaincy midway through one of the previous IPL seasons(Delhi Daredevils), but Shreyas proved to be a better captain in comparison.

He even refused to take his fees voluntary ( around half million dollars ) when he performed below average for kkr. Thats how he lived his all life. He knows how to lead or set an examples for other people. That's why he's so respected among everyone even critics. he goes over board here and there but that's gambhir for you.

Sometimes I think he played in the wrong Era. He belongs to 60s-70s.
I am happy for him as now he is in politics because we need peoples like him very clean and good person hopefully he will be remembered as good in his new department even I hate this I have never good experience in this dirty politics but we still can hope peoples like him can give new directions.

The odds for the game between India and West Indies should be:

India : 1.4
West Indies : 2.3
Rain : 8  Grin

Sportsbooks should start offering these odds since washout matches are very common these days. On a more serious note, I am cheering for India and I am expecting West Indies to not hand them the win very easily today.

Today is the 2nd ODI between India vs WI and hopefully this match happens full of 50 overs and become a intersting one. Also WI is yet to register their first win now in this India tour of WI as they were white wash by India in T20. India on other hand would liek to continue their good form and will also like to white wash this ODI series.

The good news is that today there is no prediction of rain, so hopefully we'll be getting a full 50 over match. The competition for slots in the Indian XI was never this tough. Too many talented players are competing for very few available slots. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli have permanent slots, so only 1-2 are available for players like KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Manish Pandey.etc. At least a dozen quality players compete for these two slots.

This match is special for the West Indies, as it will be the 300th match for Chris Gayle. They need to win this game for Gayle, who had served the WI side for more than a decade. But it is going to be really difficult, after the thrashing that they received during the two T20 matches. During the first ODI, they played as if they had conceded the match even before the start of the play.

LOL You have the full life history of the player. Even Suresh Raina would have to recall all this  Cheesy
I wonder weather you study each player personal life history so deeply ?

Well... India is a country with thousands of different ethnic groups and hundreds of languages. And cricket is the no.1 sport in India. Whenever someone from a particular state represents India, the residents of that state feel quite proud. And it is quite rare for anyone to represent the Indian team from the smaller states. I am originally from Mizoram (currently residing in Tripura and married to a girl from South India). No one has ever represented India from these two states (ever since India became independent in 1947).

Suresh Raina was the first player from Kashmir to play for India

Nope,

He is from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh if we go into more details then Muradnagar is birthplace.

I know that he was born in Ghaziabad, but his ancestors were originally from Kashmir. His ancestral village is Rainawari, near Srinagar. His father Trilok Chand Raina was born in Rainawari, and his mother is from the neighboring state of Himachal Pradesh (Dharamsala). But you are right in a strict sense, since he played his Ranji Trophy matches for Uttar Pradesh and not for Kashmir.

Dhoni used to hate Gambhir's guts because of his straight forward attitude. To cut a long story short, he was not a very diplomatic guy. No matter off-field or on-field. He had and still has the very same lousy habit calling " spade a spade." that's the main reason he was drop Plus Dhoni wanted to build younger team for future Tongue

But no one can deny that he was big match-winner, especially in Big tournaments-games.
Gambhir is basically the definition of an amazing player who messes everything up by opening his mouth. Both he and Afridi continue to argue even now after their infamous fight long ago which says that he probably will never change in this aspect.

I was shocked when he dropped his captaincy midway through one of the previous IPL seasons(Delhi Daredevils), but Shreyas proved to be a better captain in comparison.

Gambhir too was good and they dropped him too. These players were able to get runs and not depend on just 1-2 players and even that time Virat played well but now I don't see the same aggression he had like that time. He used to be under pressure and perform while now he just plays for the sake of playing.

He is still playing well in IPL so why are they not giving him a chance in international games and taking newbies is something I can't get. He was once the vice captain of CSK too and he's still young. When they ignore Gambhir, I thought it was because of his age but now only youngsters are being chosen. Tey could have chosen him for T20 if his surgery was not there but his name was nowhere mentioned and he won't be playing for next year's WC also now.

Suresh Raina was the first player from Kashmir to play for India (made his debut in 2005). He underwent the surgery in Amsterdam, and the doctors are saying that rehab process is going to take another 6 weeks. After that, it may take some more time for him to be fully fit, so that he could play the domestic tournaments. Ideally, he should not rush through and should be targeting the 2020 IPL season.

I agree. These guys played some amazing cricket together even when the top order failed to perform sometimes. The current lineup consists of better bowlers, but the previous batsmen like Sachin, MSD, Yuvi etc were much better in comparison.

Its good that they are providing many IPL players like Krunal Pandya, Manish Pandey, Saini etc opportunities in the current series. KL Rahul and Pant need to be more consistent if they wish to keep their spots in the team.

Miss watching him play myself. Easily one of the best left handed batsmen to grace the world of Cricket. Loved watching him and MSD play out in the middle especially as part of CSK. Good thing is that we can still watch him play in the IPL.

Raina and Dhoni are the big pillars behind CSK and I hope that they continue playing for CSK for a couple more years.

I don't miss him much in International matches but would love to see if he managed to comeback in T-20 squad. Otherwise, he can continue in IPL if he recovers from surgery soon.

There are some IPL's records are on his name. Don't know if its Highest runs or highest match record in IPL.?

Okay did a quick search, he is now in the second spot behind Kohli.

Some how Suresh Raina bats differently the way he bats in IPL. He is one of the finest batsman when it comes to IPL but same does not applies when he plays for India. Not sure what exactly the problem is but now seems diffcult for his entry as their are few young upcoming new batsman waiting for their due credit.
