If they win the match, and thereby the series, then it will be a big upset. Especially after the 0-5 whitewash during the T20 series. But Jadeja is still there, and the required rate is still under 7 runs per over. The Indians would still be fancying their chances. Just to add here, the Indian tailenders are capable of batting a bit (especially Shardul Thakur and and Yuzvendra Chahal).

Indian bowlers are not as good as England or even Australian bowlers to bat under pressure and get half the score with a RRR of 6+.

Also, now Thakur is gone, bowled. India are just losing the match but want them to lose it with dignity and not 100+ runs which is the case here. It's embarrassing that such a good team on paper are unable to perform for 50 overs. They played T20 so well just a week ago.

This game is slowly going out of India's hand. Iyer was my last hope and now he is out. I do not think Jadeja will be able to take control of this situation. Only tailenders left.

NZ will win the series if they win this match.

It look like NZ want to take the revenge of white wash of T20s with the ODI white wash. I fear this may come true.

Shreyas is out so hope is also gone. Bennet, Southee both managed to take the big wickets and with this NZ will win the series too with maybe a washout as don't have hopes for the next ODI too. Feeling lost with the big players also failing, we are neither good in batting nor bowling now.

Feeling bad that Jadeja is taking all the trouble to make runs and struggling with a bowler on the field. If here I have lost hope, it's so good to see that the batsmen out there knowing they will lose still never lose hope  Cry

The New Zealand captain called in James Neesham to bowl. Now I would say that this is a master stroke from Tom Latham, because Neesham can be very economical during the middle overs. The strategy is to bowl as tight as they can and force the Indian batsmen (Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja) to a mishit. And this strategy has worked now, with Shreyas Iyer nicking a ball from Hamish Bennett to the keeper.

Look like India will lose today. They middle order collapse badly today. Shreyas Iyer is looking good at 45 and if he can take India home with the tail enders then we can blame Newzealand again for losing the match which could have been easily Won. Anyways its unlikely to happen and India may face unexpected defeat today.
This feels like I am watching the World Cup semi-final though the score is far higher and the chances of India winning are pretty low at the moment. Looks like experimenting with the inexperienced players was the wrong call here.

As long as Ravindra Jadeja is there, Indians will be hopeful of a recovery. Because he has rescued them in many similar situations before. Also, Tim Southee has completed his 10 overs and the New Zealand captain has called in Hamish Bennett (who conceded 26 runs from his 3 overs earlier). But Kyle Jamieson still has 4 overs remaining with him. And Indian batsmen really struggled against Jamieson.
Jadeja is barely clinging on currently and I highly doubt India will win this one unless NZ bowlers mess it up at this point. NZ luck has not exactly been swinging their way these days which is why India still has hope(Slight).

Edit: Iyer departed and it looks like India's hopes went down the drain.

Do they want to lose this match too. The bowlers of NZ are playing so well but Indian batsmen aren't able to face Southee. I don't feel Shreyas would manage all on his own as 149 runs are left and only Jadeja is present to support him. Disappointed with Virat and Rahul today.

TG Southee bowled well and took 2 wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs. Luckly for india, his quota of bowling is over. Bennett has 7 overs left but he is expensive today and bowled at above 7 runs per over. India can still win this one, they only have to bat well and do not lose wickets. the Required run rate at the moment is 6.68 which is also not out of control.

I was thinking that this score is low for India and suddenly seeing the score board India are 103/5 in 23.5 overs . What a great comeback by Newzeland after the T20 white wash . India still require 171 in 26 overs and only hope for them now is Sheyas Iyer to stay on pitch till last which may help to reach near target or win the match for the team .

Too many twists and turns in this match. At one point, it looked as if New Zealand would struggle to make a total of even 200. But they managed 273/8 (thanks to some fine batting by Jamieson and Taylor during the final overs). But the Indian batsmen seems to be struggling against the Kiwi bowlers, which was entirely unexpected. This is a team which is capable of chasing targets in excess of 350 with ease.

Ross Taylor is back 73 runs this match, last match 100. What an incredible batsman this guy is. This is how a middle-order batsman takes control of the match.

Sure there are many twist and turns in this match, i was expecting India to chase this score but now they lost 4 wickets already and now struggling. If India wants to reach the total the partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Kedar Kadhav is important and they have the opportunity to play a career changing innings and take India home and this is the only solid batsman and hence a good partnership is needed as India still need 198 runs to win.

Kedar Jadhav needed to play a good innings as he has been in horrible form for a very long time. And he got out just a few minutes back, after making 9 runs from 27 balls. I don't understand why this guy is still in the team, when the management never show such largess on younger players such as Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan. For heaven's sake he is 35 years old. Why can't the selectors kick him out of the team?

Ouch!! Kohli bowled.... 59/3

Things getting interesting and spicy here. Now its all up to middle order let's see if they step up or we got any more drama left in this game.

So far good competition from both sides.

Kiwis gets a good start - India Pull back with the ball - Kiwis fight back in the death overs

Kiwis would definitely be unhappy the way they have just scored 273 runs considering the start they got would like to atleast achieve 325+ runs . Taylor is in superb form and continue his batting from where he left the other day . India if build something partnership should be able to achieve this score easily .

^ Yeah at one point, Kiwis looked dangerous and were looking for a total of 300+ runs. Suddenly things changed and the Kiwis looked troubled losing 7 wickets in quick succession for just 55 runs. When NZ were at 197/8, none would have thought that they would score past 250.  But the newbie, Kyle Jamieson gave a good partnership stand with Taylor for the 9th wicket and posted a decent 273 runs on board. But I don't think that it would be easy for the Kiwis to defend such score in a ground with short boundaries.
