So it means that the team who bat second will win the next match. So we could make a bet right after the toss and invest a good amount on the team batting second. If dew play a role in each match, this would be easy betting win in this India West Indies series.

Anyone else who is deciding to bet on the next match based upon the result of toss ?

On average, the chances of winning a cricket match in case you have won the toss is around 60%. I couldn't find any major differences between day matches and day/night matches. The dew factor can be a major issue in a select few grounds. But I have a feeling that in many cases, its importance is overblown. The losing team needs to give some excuse and dew is one of the excuses that comes in very conveniently. The 2nd ODI will take place at the coastal city of Visakhapatnam, where dew may cause some difficulty to the team bowling second.

Lots of unfit players is making team's morale down. Moreover it's pretty obvious that dew was a great factor today. Why is it always that when India wins it's either Kohli or Rohit who is the superhero of the win and if both of them fail India really never wins.
In day night matches dew is always a factor as the bowlers will find it hard to grip the ball as with the humidity in India it is obvious that winning the toss and electing to field is the best option always and West Indies was lucky enough to win the toss and they chased the target with ease, toss is a factor and i would like to bet in the next match as i saw the odds for West Indies were huge as India was the favorite.

You have good point because in first ODI when I was watching match I check few things and then bet on West Indies odds @3 even once these was @5 but I take my time and then place which give me very healthy profit just you have to check few things during match and then place bet and enjoy match and your bet both.

I serious think that if Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the captain he would have approached the game differently as he was the best captain India ever had and Kohli is not known to win games as a captain but Mahendra Singh Dhoni was a specialty was to bring something and do something to break the partnership especially in ODI and T20 he was the best captain ever.

Being a fan of the Indian cricket team, I think that it will be better not to compare the two players, as they have very different styles of captaining the team. As of now, Dhoni is well past his prime and may take part only in a select few matches per year. So the captaining responsibility will be with Virat Kohli for at least the next 5-6 years.

A day to forget for team India,Do you miss captain cool in this match? If MSD was playing then there will be total change in the playing nature of every player especially their fielding will be best.
Oh.. common.. you can't blame the absence of Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the defeat.

Harsha raising very good and critical question but sadly there is no solution to this problem for at least next 5-10 years IMO. its hard to find next Sachin,Sehwag, Yuvraj,Raina.

The point raised by Harsha is really concerning India team beacuse it is valid point and BCCI would have have to work in this direction beacuse it can solve some of the problems of having good all rounders in the team in every match .

It is a realistic point that there is a lack of batting all rounders apart from Jadeja and Pandya is injured for a very long period of time and you cannot find players like Sachin Sehwag or Yuvraj who could change the match with bat and ball and i feel we under appreciated Yuvraj when he was playing as he was fully utilized as an all rounder around the 2011 world cup and he performed above all expectations.

Oh.. common.. you can't blame the absence of Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the defeat. I don't think the outcome could have been any different, if he was playing. His replacement (Rishabh Pant) was the top scorer for India, making 71 from 69 balls. India lost the match because the top order collapsed, and Sreyas Iyer also wasted a lot of balls while building the 3rd wicket partnership with Rohit Sharma. The total was only 80 runs after the 18th over and this slow start made sure that India would score less than 300. And any score less than 300 is not easy to defend on the batsmen-friendly surfaces of India.

Yes! I just realized match was in Chennai and dew in Chennai is much higher as it is a port city with sea just nearby. At night especially in this season there is a lot of dew and playing 25 overs with one ball really makes the ball pretty wet.
It is disappointing performance from Indian top order batting lineup but the middle order gives good performance between  Iyer and pant with that partnership  Indian team reached 287 runs it will decent score but West Indies bowlers did great job to control Indian team under 300 runs and reached target without any trouble with two centuries between hope and hetmyer.

I don't think 287 is ever a good total in India. Indian pitches are made for batsmen and not to forget that it's always hard to bowl in the second innings in day night matches so I think even the middle order could have batted for a bit long once they settled both Iyer and Pant did make half centuries but their effort wasn't really enough to take India to a respectable total.

Shimron Hetmyer scored a century with a good strike rate while Shai Hope scored a century with patience and both these players destroyed India with ease and now they are leading the series with an unexpected victory as i did not expect West Indies to defeat India but anything can happen as rarely do we see a white wash from India in any tournament and glad i did not place a bet.

I been a long time since i saw India team in such a bad form. Beating India in India is a big achievement by the West Indies.
Chennai crowd would be disappointed  today seeing their team lost in front of the home crowd. Shimron Hetmyer 139 runs was a classical innings which is unforgettable.
My bad, match went upside down completely, didn't expect such a clean strike from WI.Kudoos to the players who managed to clam their nerves infront of such a huge crowd. But WI team has no heaters in India since they are shattered all around IPL teams and playing important role in every teams which madem illions of hearts to them even if it is not their home ground or nation.A day to forget for team India,Do you miss captain cool in this match? India would be disappointed the way they bowl and just could take wickets at regular interval or break that partnership which resulted in winning of the game for WI . India would now have to rethink as WI is looking very strong now .

I would say Hope played decent knowing the fact that Hetmyer took the charge as hitting batsman. He just played a role of someone to go along with Hetmyer to do the run chase and it worked in the end. ODI becomes kinda slightly long so it doesn't matters much but would have been a bog deal if it had been T-20.
No doubt that West Indies played a sensible innings and if India was able to pick wickets during the final phase of the innings then it would have been interesting to watch because of the suspense factor and the pressure the batsman has to consume but they played a composed innings and picked the gaps rather than going for wild slogs and that was sensible cricket, India dropped catches in this  match too and they need to improve their catching if they need to win.
I still think west Indies have a way lot wickets in hand even until the end. India definitely is missing their two main frontline seamers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvi. Along with that dew was really a factor which couldn't be ignored. I don't know why but I feel that the combo with Hardik Pandya in the squad and two Spinner Kuldeep chahal and two seamers bhuvi-bumrah is the best bowling combination India can go with.

SD Hope is the main set batsmen at 78 and he needs to stay till the end.
Hope played a really slow innings according to the current ODI standards and he was unbeaten till the end and his over strike rate is around 72 which is low and yet he is performing when it matters.

It is a straight win from here onwards. Nobody can stop WI from winning this match. A completely one-sided match. From the beginning, they have dominated and have been crushing India to a defeat.
West Indies dominated the first match and it was a one sided match and the bowlers were disappointing as they were not able to put pressure on the West Indies batsman nor able to pick wickets, what changes do they make in the second match is interesting if they want to win the series.
