For example, they won a match for Pakistan chasing target of 400 plus. But bowlers dragged them down in almost every other match. Anyway, they are almost out of the tournament now. They should target for a decent performance in their last match, which is against England.

Anyway, New Zealand chased down the target in just 23.2 overs and that ensured that they end up with a very good net run rate and well ahead of Pakistan at 5th place. Sri Lankan batsmen performed very poorly due to which they could not collect big scores. And the target of 172 runs was given by Sri Lanka to the New Zealand team which was not very difficult to win the match. However, the New Zealand team lost five wickets after coming to the target at the last moment. If Sri Lanka could have done a good bowling performance from the beginning, then they could have put New Zealand under good pressure. As it was not possible to bowl New Zealand, and due to poor bowling, Sri Lanka lost the match, and New Zealand won brilliantly.

I did not expect Sri Lanka to score 171 runs. Because they lost 8 wickets in 113 runs. Still managed to give a target of 172 runs. Had the pitch been bowling-friendly I would have said the match would have been competitive. But the pitch is completely batting-friendly. The New Zealand team collected 401 runs in the last match on this pitch. Even then the New Zealand team had to be defeated. Scoring 172 runs in today's match will not be a tough task for New Zealand. I feel that if New Zealand bats the way they are batting against Pakistan they might not lose a single wicket. If the New Zealand batsmen can play today with the same consistency as they did against Pakistan, they can win by 10 wickets.

Looks like Pakistan and Afghanistan can kiss their semifinal chances goodbye because New Zealand wrecked Sri Lanka as expected. They would have probably gotten out within 100 if Latham hadn't dropped Kusal early on.

All kiwi bowlers except Southee bowled really well and I hope Ravindra notches up another century in this encounter.
