First of all, I was not expecting anyone outside the pig-4 to qualify for the semi-finals. Even then, South Africa managed to qualify, thanks to some splendid batting from their star players such as Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen.

One of the Pig 4 team, England disappointed a lot and are almost down at the table. I think no one from the Pig 4 plus the England teams themselves would have thought of such a pathetic performance by them.

Anyways today Afghanistan are batting first after winning the toss and they are struggling full time against South Africa and currently, the score is 146 for 6 wickets down. Although the top order batsmen didn't play well but Azmatullah Omarzai is looking good at 46. Afghanistan may not be able to make a big total but he should make his fifty and rightly deserve so.

Lungi Ngidi, Gerald Coetzee and Keshav Maharaj, all of them took 2 wickets each and South African bowlers really bowled well in this final match of the World Cup before the semi finals.

LOL.. interesting to see that Afghanistan chose to bat first. And quite predictably, the South African bowlers ripped through their batting lineup. Till now, not  single Afghan batsman has made a score of above 30. Rahmat Shah made 26 and Rahmanullah Gurbaz got out after making 25. Azmatullah Omarzai is at the crease with 24. They have lost wickets at regular intervals and I will be very surprised if they make a total of above 200. So far Gerald Coetzee and Keshav Maharaj have taken 2 wickets apiece as Proteas decided to rest their ace bowler Marco Jansen.

Afghanistan after doing so good re down and out in there last game. 6 wickets gone down in 29 overs. Azmatullah Omarzai is the only one able to score 31 and is not out. The outcome of this match is not important for both teams nor for any other team in the tournament. Overall its excellent performance from Afghanistan in this tournament , they proved that they are a strong cricket side.

In the last match against South Africa, Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Afghanistan got off to a good start by winning the toss against South Africa. After the first five overs, Afghanistan managed to score 25 runs without a wicket. Three of the four teams confirmed for the semi-finals of the World Cup are now fighting for a position although the equation is not in Afghanistan's favor and Afghanistan will try their best against South Africa today. Pakistan and Afghanistan scored 8 points but net run rate changed their equation a lot. Afghanistan has a minus net run rate while Pakistan has a plus net run rate, so even though Pakistan has a small chance, Afghanistan has no chance to qualify for the semi-finals.
Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first. Afghanistan's current score is 56 runs for 3 wickets in 15 overs. Afghanistan's game looks like they might not score much if they can't prolong the partnership. South Africa's bowling and batting are both very strong and South Africa will try to bowl Afghanistan out within 190 or 200 runs. And if Afghanistan can be bowled out within 200 runs then the match will be very easy for South Africa.

Exactly they have no chance to qualify for the semifinal. South Africa is already in Semifinal and will play semifinal with Australia.
By the way the current situation of match is Afghanistan has made 41 runs in 10 overs and lost two wickets. The situation of Afghanistan is little weak and I hope South Africa will win today match easily.

Even my son (who is around 10) still thinks that the impossible can happen and he wants Team Pakistan to reach the final at any cost. These kids do not know the reality and the corruption in the system but they are only passionate about their home country winning and lifting the cup.  Sad

Other than this, the Pakistan team doesn't deserve the place in the semi finals by playing an average game throughout the tournament and thinking they are the champions. The corruption in the PCB is another thing which children do not understand.

I only felt sad about the big Sri Lanka defeat yesterday only because my son was sad, otherwise, I do not have much affiliation left with the national team.

Pakistan's exit is their own fault. They couldn't meet their nation's expectations no matter what.

While people are feeling sad for Sri Lanka, it brought joy to other teams. The good thing about Sri Lanka is that when teams like Australia, New Zealand, and Bangladesh were losing matches in a row, Sri Lanka always stepped up to help them win and regain their form.

Four teams are now confirmed for the semifinal. India, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. India will play first semifinal match with New Zealand. Pakistan have the chances to qualify for the semifinal but the chances are only 2 to 3% which is impossible. And India is looking much stronger as compare to other three teams so I think India will win this world.

India definitely looking stronger as compared to any team in this tournament. Since 2011 only big 3 have manage to secure victories in ODI worldcup finals. This year too it seems like worldcup will be lifted by India. Pakistan performance was not good and they don't deserve to be in semifinals.

So in the semi-finals, it is going to be 3 from the pig-4 and one outsider team. Pakistan had an uphill task, considering the fact that this tournament is being held in India. But they should be happy with what they have achieved. Wins against Sri Lanka and New Zealand was no mean effort.

Funny seeing some people still think that New Zealand hasn't qualified already when the reality is that they already have. India vs New Zealand once again in the semifinals though the outcome might be different this time around.

Australia vs South Africa is another high voltage semifinal clash which could probably be more exciting than the other one. We're in the endgame now!
Maybe some folks are expecting Pakistan to win a toss and then score a mammoth total of 450-500 runs, whereas Babar scorning 295 with SR of 300, the Greatest ODI inning of all time.

After that, maybe for a change Ifti Chacha and Shadab will take a new ball and bowl out England within the first powerplay. Looks like a straightforward expectation to me.

Unfortunately Pakistan has no chance to go in semifinal matches. Sad Sad
But Pakistan tried well. And you are right there are 80% chances that India will win the World Cup because India played 8 matches and didn't lose a single match. They have mutch better performance as compare to others three teams. So India can win the World Cup.

The focus was simply not there. They were doing all sort of theatrics rather than focusing on the performance. At first they did namaaz on field, and then complained when a few of the fans shouted religious chants at them during the match at Ahmedabad. Then they were complaining about the food that was being served in the hotel. I have a feeling that if they had focused on the game rather than all the other things, then they might have qualified for the semi-finals. Now it is all over for them. Given the scenarios, it is pretty much impossible to qualify for the semi-finals.

I stand with Palestine.
A win for New Zealand tomorrow almost guarantees New Zealand and India will meet in the semi-finals, while South Africa and Australia will meet in the semi-finals. But between India and New Zealand, many have almost assumed which team will win. But the South Africa vs Australia semi-final will be comparatively better than the India vs New Zealand semi-final and the match will be enjoyable.

Look like the Pakistan team is more hurt than the Sri Lanka team after this New Zealand team. I am saying this after reading most of the comments here which just focus that Pakistan chances of qualifying are demolished by the New Zealand team. Trent Boult who wasn't in the good form in this World Cup, took three important wickets for the Srilanka and gave away only 37 runs. He along with other bowlers didn't let Srilankan batsmen made runs and they could only reach 171 runs. Due to this good bowling, the Srilankan team never looked up and eventually lost by a big margin.

By the Way, the New Zealand team should not be too happy going to the semi-finals, as they would be facing India in the Semi final who are unbeaten and it won't be easy to beat them on their home ground on the semi final day.
The run rate of the Pakistan team was already low. New Zealand's big margin of victory today certainly added to Pakistan's woes. Now, even if Pakistan wins the match against England, there is no chance of reaching the semi-finals. The margin by which Pakistan has to win the match against England is impossible. The margins being quoted are very tight.

The Indian team is unbeaten so far in this World Cup, and has the advantage of home ground and home fans, but the New Zealand team is no slouch in terms of performance, and will not be an easy team for India. Often, teams that perform well in the early stages end up losing in the knockout stages. I think it is not easy to beat India, but it is not impossible. If New Zealand play their best on the semi-final day, they can beat the Indian team.

Pakistan is  unlikely to qualify for the semi-finals. New Zealand won  today by a huge margin. The  team played well. And they are much ahead of the net run rate. At the same time  I think Pakistan cannot win against England. After consecutive defeats,  England won the  last match against Netherlands. And now the England players are quite confident. So I think England's victory against Pakistan is more likely.
Sirilanka played one of his worst ever performance after against India match, mostly Paksitani believe that Mathew and entire sirilankan team will took revenge of shakib bad behaviour from NewZeland but unfortunately they doesn't make anything significant in favour of paksitan also most of Paksitani fan believe that rain will wash out entire match and thus due to match abundancy point will be shared and paksitan will have to just defeat England for semifinals but after huge chances of rain from few days rain didn't intrept on match day. Anyway still paksitan has chance which look impossible but I believe nothing is impossible in sports so if they took entire England on 40 to 50 runs and then chased it down on 16 balls then Pakistan will got qualified

New Zealand beat Srilanka by huge margin 5 wickets and 26 Over spare and huge gain in Net run rate. New Zealand have very strong chance to qualify for world cup and finished at Spot 4 on points tabel. Pakistan last match against England and Pakistan need to beat England by 286 runs in Kolkata for qulaity semis. If Pakistan score only 300, they would need to all out England on 13 runs. Another qualification scenario is If Pakistan bowl England out on 50, they would need to chase it down in 15 balls that is quite impossible seems right now.

Pakistan has a remote chance in case they win the toss and bat first. In order to qualify for the semifinal, they need to win by 287 runs. So either they can score 300 runs and then bowl out England for just 13, or more realistically they can score 400 and then bowl out England for 113 runs. At least theoretically, the second scenario is not outright impossible. But if they bowl first, then there's virtually zero chance. I will be really interested to see what the England captain would decide to do, in case he wins the toss.

There was a strong possibility that New Zealand could beat Sri Lanka easily and there was no chance of Sri Lanka winning. New Zealand were confident that if they won by a big margin, they would easily qualify for the semi-finals. There is no fault of Sri Lanka in this but New Zealand has given the best performance. Instead of expecting better performance from their team players, Pakistani fans were expecting better performance from other teams and defeat each other.

I think it is useless to try to make your semi-final place by the defeat or victory of others instead of making it on your own performance. In many tournaments or World Cups I have noticed such a situation where Pakistani fans wait for their team to reach the semi-finals after the other teams lose or win. If the Pakistani team had taken care of their run rate from the beginning, they would not have faced such a situation, where they could not reach the semi-finals just by winning, but by winning by a big margin which seems impossible.

Pakistan bowlers failed the team. After Naseem Shah was ruled out due to injury, the burden of pace bowling fell on the shoulders of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Waseem. But none of these bowlers maintained consistency. And the less we talk about the spinners, that better. The batsmen did what they could. For example, they won a match for Pakistan chasing target of 400 plus. But bowlers dragged them down in almost every other match. Anyway, they are almost out of the tournament now. They should target for a decent performance in their last match, which is against England.

Look like the Pakistan team is more hurt than the Sri Lanka team after this New Zealand team. Looks like Pakistan and Afghanistan can kiss their semifinal chances goodbye because New Zealand wrecked Sri Lanka as expected. They would have probably gotten out within 100 if Latham hadn't dropped Kusal early on.

All kiwi bowlers except Southee bowled really well and I hope Ravindra notches up another century in this encounter.

The good thing is that the New Zealand team made sure that they win and win a big margin thus keeping the World Cup fate of qualifying in the semi finals in their own hands and do not depend upon other matches' results.

The teams such as Afghanistan or Pakistan who not only had to win all their matches and also need to depend upon other matches results may find themselves in an awkward situation as it happened with both teams now. Both of them (Pak & AFG) were not playing but they would be hopeless seeing Srilanka losing to New Zealand with a big margin.
