They should have won the match against India. 230 was a chasable target even on a two-paced pitch. England's batting is not in the best of form and has cost them this World Cup. Exactly I was also thinking that England performed excellent in bowling and they will perform well in Batting too and will win today match but they were facing India so India didn't give them a single chance to win this match. In my opinion, India's bowling was not good, but England team's batting was very bad. It seemed that England's batsmen were in a hurry to go to the pavilion. No batsman tried to play long innings. At no point did it seem that England's batsmen showed resistance. However, a good partnership was enough to win this match. Even when England's bowlers restricted a strong batting line-up like India to 229 runs, England's batsmen were very irresponsible in achieving this small target, and wasted the hard work of England's bowlers.
I am still concerned about Australia (and not about the other two - South Africa and New Zealand). India has been in prime form till now, but they have a habit of losing crucial knockout matches. Australia on the other hand has a reputation of starting poorly, but finishing well in major tournaments. And yesterday's performance from India was not flawless. The top order failed completely, and once Rohit Sharma got out their batting simply collapsed. Anything can happen in knockout stages. South Africa and New Zealand are always good in the start but they choke at very last moment in semis and in finals. It is almost certain that India, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia will play in the semi-finals. New Zealand have lost their last two matches. But South Africa and Australia are in very good form. New Zealand's next match is against South Africa. It looks like New Zealand will lose yet another match. Hence, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have a slim chance of qualifying for the semi-finals if they win all their next matches.
