Actually, it's the opposite. He flourishes and performs well when playing on seam, bouncy and fast wickets, hence he only features in SENA (SA, ENG,NZ,AUS) countries.

He debuted in India tho but only bowled less than 2 overs and got injured. After that, he never got a chance to play in India and considering his domestic record on Indian tracks, it seems a right decision.

But in general, it should be the opposite right? He does not have that much pace. So he should get torn apart by the batting lineup of bigger opponent. But it genuinely seems to work differently with him.

The thing is, I still do not trust him, even though his statistics does look better. I would only be able to trust him when he will show good performance against bigger opponents, like Australia, England, New Zealand consistently.

Less than 4 weeks to go for the start of Asia Cup. The first match (between Pakistan and Nepal) will be played on 30th August (Multan Cricket Stadium), and this will be one of the four matches to be played in Pakistan (and the only home match for them). Three days later, Pakistan will travel to Sri Lanka and face India at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The last match of Group A will be played between India and Nepal on 4th September at the same venue. The fact that two countries will be hosting the tournament adds a lot of complexity this time.
The main phase of the Asia Cup is going to start from August 30 in short range with six teams where Nepal will take the field against Pakistan in the first match. The Asia Cup tournament usually ends with three rounds where six teams compete against each other in the first round, the first four teams from those six teams advance to the semi-finals and two teams from the semi-finals qualify for the finals. The tournament will end in a very short time due to the small number of teams. That is why the Asia Cup tournament is being organized on a short scale as the cricketers will prepare for the World Cup tournament after finishing the Asia Cup tournament. The spotlight of this Asia Cup will be Pakistan India and Bangladesh.
There is not even a month left for the start of the Asia Cup, so the host Pakistan is preparing loudly. Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium is getting a facelift even though the opening match will not be played at the iconic stadium. The inaugural match between Pakistan and Nepal will be played on August 31. The PCB has moved it to Multan considering the interest of the spectators. Although the Asian Cricket Council has not published the list yet, PCB said in a press release on Monday that it will be known who will play this week. However, partial sources have been received from various sources that Pakistan will leave for the island of Lanka after playing the first match. The last match of the group will be played against the arch rivals Pakistan and India. If the Super 4 qualifiers, another arch rival India vs Pakistan game will be enjoyed by the cricket fans. At least one of Bangladesh's two group stage matches in Pakistan will be held in Lahore. Meanwhile, in the heat of the World Cup, hotel and flight bookings are going on in India from now on and the prices have increased several times, especially around the India Pakistan match on October 15, the country's media reported. The World Cup will start after the Asia Cup, so it can be said that all the cricket fans in the world will enjoy it to the fullest.

If he plays on a slow pitch he is really very much effective, player like him always perform well on slow pitch. and to be honest he he is really aged and doesnot have much pace. So in a fast track, he is not going to be very useful. even if he is useful in a fast track, there are other players in the Indian team who will be far better options compared to him.  He is a player who has to be utilized properly by the captain. Like he cannot be used towards the end overs. He also cannot be used as the opener while bowling in my opinion.

And my perspective is, if those fans called him "Lord" as fun then it is normal, but if they have any bad intentions by calling him "Lord" then it is really disgusting.  But sometimes people misunderstand things. Anyway India certainly has better options compared to him. But if he is used properly, I think he will be a great asset for India. Especially when he is in form.

Despite having doubts and concerns about the upcoming Asia Cup. Finally, a resolution has been achieved through negotiations. This tournament will be started with Pakistan and Nepal match. In group B, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka could potentially compete each other, According to the prediction Sri Lanka expected to take the lead in the group. On the other hand, in Group A, the cricketing giants India and Pakistan will fight. Predicting the outcome from their match is a bit challenging. India is a dependable team that consistently performs well, but it's hard to predict about the outcomes for Pakistan. The match on Sep 02 will be a fascinating match in the entire Asia Cup 2023.

Group A only has two strong teams and Nepal is not performing well right now. They performed poorly during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier, and failed to defeat any of the top teams. Asia Cup is going to be a big test for them. First they will face Pakistan (at Multan), and after that they need to face India at Kandy (Pallekele International Cricket Stadium). An upset win would do a lot of good for them. In Group B, the situation is a little bit more unpredictable. Afghanistan can upset either of the two top teams (Sri Lanka and Bangladesh).
As mentioned an upset win is the only choice for Nepal and have the chance of qualifying as the top two team of the group. Nepal is too young to defeat India and Pakistan and stand its chance. It have got good players, while playing against the top teams it isn't an easy thing to win. With the group B, everything is unpredictable as all the three teams were in similar strength. Sri Lanka used to be the favourite, but its recent performance were really worse and they need more encouragement and improvement.

Sithara007, The first match which is going to be played between Pakistan and Nepal is certainly going to be one-sided. The first match which might be competitive is going to be between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. And of course everyone is waiting for the India versus Pakistan match.

I just realized that the first four matches are not going to be played in Pakistan as I thought. I thought the first four matches were going to be played in Pakistan and after that everyone was going to move to Sri Lanka. But that is not the case. The venues are going to be changing. Don’t know if that is very efficient to be honest.

Bangladesh did not do very well recently in the ODI series. So I think Afghanistan does actually have a chance to pull something incredible off.

It was a typing mistake. I wanted to say that a lot of people are trolling. But I genuinely think that he is improving. I agree that the statistics are better because the other bowlers who are not average, are not playing regularly. But of course those are the chances which should be utilized properly by someone like Shardul Thakur. Now, because of his statistics, he’s going to get more chances in my opinion.

His domestic statistics are not something really unbelievable to be honest. But in the international scenario, the statistics are in favour of him. I know he is not a very quality bowler. But as long as he gets the job done, I don’t think anyone has anything to complain.

Fair enough but I don't think anyone actually trolls him. In fact, he's a very likable cricketer among fans.

Yeah, the lord meme started as a joke when Dhoni gave him the tag of "Lord Thakur", similar to "Sir Jadeja" but there is no malice in it and fans really admire him because he always surprises everyone.

I am still doubtful about his role in ODI tho but in test cricket, he's an important asset when playing in SENA countries and he already proved his worth in Australia, SA and England with the bat and ball.

Nepal has very recently made it to ICC tournaments and such performance is predicted from a team that is playing icc tournament for the very first time. In Asia Cup it won't be easy for Nepal to beat top teams like India and Pakistan but they should try to give there best against both of them like they should try to play full 50 overs quota and giving target of 250 or above.

Even I agreed about this but mostly Asian sports and fans are not familiar with this all just because of this we feel complexity about this in European leagues and few times big events this all is regular just because of this we never feel any problem about these things there for me now it's time for us to have things like these because with these things can go in positive way even this all is not easy but if someone tries then most chances things can take good turn about this all.

Sports it surely needs to have something positive for bringing peoples near and ending tensions and many other conflicts which are currently creating problems for common peoples and countries as well in future we need Bangladesh and Nepal also try in this way and then Pakistan with Afghanistan can also go with this same way again in future.

This has actually been done before already. The 2015 world cup was hosted by Australia and New Zealand. But obviously something like this has not been done in the Asia cup. At least not as far as I know. So this is certainly going to be interesting. Only four matches are going to be played in Pakistan. Considering the fact that it was almost decided that Pakistan is not going to host the Asia cup, I see this as an absolute win for Pakistan.

I think it is actually a good thing that the Pakistan versus India match is going to be played in Sri Lanka. Who knows what could have happened if the match was actually played in Pakistan!

This can obviously be tried with two countries. But this is obviously not really efficient because of the travelling, that the players will have to do during the tournament.

The coms were saying that in ODI he's the leading wicket taker for India, since the last ODI wc. Maybe because not many bowlers like Shami, Bumrah etc are playing regularly.

His domestic stats do suggest that he's an average cricketer at best but in international it's completely opposite, which is pleasing and surprising at the same time. A big plus is his batting down the order.

Not sure wdym by "I know a lot of people are controlling".

Its good that we are having Asia cup finally. Since BCCI is one of the biggest board, its very hard for small board like PCB to fight with them. Its a win-win situation for BCCI that hey are not going to Pakistan for Asia cup and also hosting Pakistan in India. PCB former chairmen took stance on that but you cant expect anything sane from a journalist like Sethi. Who became PCB head only for his services for ruling party PML-N.

Tamim Iqbal has made the decision to step down as Bangladesh ODI captain. Also, he won't be part in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 due to a back injury. Since taking charge as the ODI captain in 2021, Tamim Iqbal has had a decent record. Liton Das may lead Bangladesh ODI team for the Asia Cup 2023.

I think It's a great decision, as this will allow him concentrate on his batting. There is also a possibility that he may comeback during the upcoming ODI home series vs New Zealand.
If Tamim Iqbal is not able to play in the upcoming World Cup then I think it will be a big bad news for cricket as we all know he is one of the top batsmen in Bangladesh so Bangladesh cricket will understand his shortcoming. Since Tamim Iqbal will not be able to play due to his back injury or he will not be in ODI captaincy we as cricket fans will surely wish him a speedy recovery so that we can enjoy his game sitting in the gallery or in front of the television in the upcoming World Cup.
In a press conference yesterday, Tamim stepped down from ODI cricket captaincy in the presence of BCB president. He blamed the injury issue for stepping down from the captaincy as his back injury is also a concern for his World Cup tournament. If he is not fully fit during the World Cup, he will miss the World Cup tournament. If Tamim Iqbal misses the World Cup tournament then it will be a big bad news for Bangladesh cricket as he is one of the most reliable and successful opening batsman in Bangladesh cricket. The team relies a lot on his performance in ODI cricket so his absence could be a worry for the management. The ODI cricket captain is yet to be announced by BCB, if Shakib Al Hasan is offered the captaincy till the World Cup, Shakib Al Hasan will not accept the offer directly as he will not take charge of the team except for a long term.

I actually wanted to see Shardul Thakur get five wickets in the last match. But the performance was good from him anyway. He got four wickets. I think probably the only disappointing thing for India was to actually lose the second match of this series.
Tbh, I fail to understand how Thakur ends up picking wickets when there is some sort of partnership going on. When everyone fails he comes with his golden arm and breaks a partnership.

Surprising because he's not a very skilled bowler or has any pace but according to his teammates he does have immense confidence in his limited abilities and is a proper workhorse in challenging situations.

Lord for a reason.  Tongue

Well, it is good for him and also India, I believe. I had seen statistics that he is the best wicket taker for India since a certain year. I don’t remember exactly which year. But certainly he is improving and it is obviously good for India.

It was actually really funny when you said

Liton Das may lead Bangladesh ODI team for the Asia Cup 2023.

I do not know about the decision of Liton Das being the captain of Bangladesh. I certainly think that he does not have enough experience to be the captain. But what I have seen so far from him being the vice captain of Bangladesh, he has really good awareness. He displays a profound understanding of the on-field dynamics and exhibits swift decision-making capabilities.

Tamim Iqbal should retire at this point.  I know he has done a lot of good things. He has also achieved a lot of things that many other Bangladeshi players were not able to. But he is old at this point, and he is also not in good form anymore. The best course of action for Bangladesh would be his retirement, as it would urge them to explore alternative opening batsmen who possess greater potential and skill.
