I do not know what you are trying to keep test cricket alive. If you have an issue with watching a cricket match for seven hours, how can you find time to watch a cricket match for five days? That is just not making sense to me.
I think the best idea is going to be getting rid of test cricket and only keeping the T-20 cricket format and reducing the One Day International cricket overs. It can be, 30– 40 or anything in between. I think that is the best approach for now.
For me, getting rid of the ODI format and keeping the T-20 and Test format does not make any sense at all.
Each format of cricket have got its importance. With test format cricket, it is the pure form of cricket which is the parameter to know the real ability of a cricketer. ODI is something different where the player has to be very precise in his/her gameplay. With T20 format cricket it is like a gamble, because in no time the match scenario changes.
I know that test cricket has the most amount of scale among any other formats of cricket. But I am not going to waste my time watching test cricket for five days, especially when I might not even see a result. Anyway, that’s my opinion.
One day match won't be end soon. If we think about future then the 50 over game may change a bit. Because people are getting busy day by day. The patience of sitting for 7-8 hours will be very difficult for the new generation. But we all know that there will be no change in the present time. Such discussions have been around for a long time in Test cricket as well. So, there will be no change in ODI cricket soon. Cricket is not gaining popularity in Europe today only because cricket is a long time game. Due to which the popularity of short form cricket is increasing.
Right now, the popularity of cricket is not too bad in my opinion. And that’s why I don’t think too many changes are going to be applied. Except for the test format. Test cricket is not very appealing right now for the viewers. I think test cricket needs some serious changes. Otherwise, it is eventually going to die out and nothing will be able to be done.
