I just learned from espncricinfo that Pakistan lost the last one day match, however, they have still won the series by 2 - 1. It applies but those players have not played any international matches and hence allowed to play without any restrictions. If countries like UAE or similar countries wanted to buy someone who played International matches, the same rule is applicable for them as well.

That is the problem. Their performance was not much below the expectation. But that is not enough. Considering their position in international cricket, they need to perform at a level which exceeds the expectation. Losing matches albeit giving a good fight will not work. They need to win matches. All three matches were close, and they should have won at least one of them. Let's not forget the fact that there is a sizable section within the ICC, which doesn't want teams like Netherlands and Ireland in international cricket.

I am not sure what has gone wrong with them during the world cup - but good that they learnt their weakness fast and covered them quick. Looking fwd for the next match.

Netherlands was an easy opponent for them. West Indies will play the next ODI series against Pakistan. It will be difficult for the Windies team to win against Pakistan. I think Pakistan will enter in the top 8 rank by playing the series against West Indies. They also have a series against Netherlands. Pakistan will easily secure their position in the top 8 within their next two series. But I have doubt about South Africa. Their upcoming ODI series is against England. They will face difficulties to enter in the top 8.

The same happened with Boyd Rankin of Ireland and Gavin Hamilton of Scotland as well. They played one or two matches for England, and thereby became ineligible to play for their respective nations.

Just because of these bullshitteries lot of players are being forced to end their careers. I mean there should be no reason why a player will have to wait for 4 years to play for his country which he was playing for in the first place.

It should be more like if a team gets a player from another country they will have to wait for 4 years to get another. Back for some reason, the rule is not that. I think it surely will make more sense if the opposite happens.
