They are playing country cricket in England. IPL franchises are not interested in associate players. The problem is that Netherlands is not a test country and therefore the players don't have regular opportunities to play cricket at the highest level. So the best players sign contracts with various English county sides. But the negative side is that, if they are contracted then they can't play for Netherlands during the county season. This is a regular problem for teams such as Scotland, Netherlands and Ireland. Their best players get stolen by England.
Players like Dirk Nannes made an impact in the IPL with his bowling performance which is an Netherlands player and Ryan ten Doeschate was another player who is really talented but never got many opportunities in the IPL for a full season.

Players from other countries can participate in county season in England and usually players refine their skills in these matches but other countries will not accept foreign players in their domestic season and it is a fact that playing in counties are an opportunity for the associate players.

What happened to Dirk Nannes is a perfect example. He got selected for Australia, and played one or two matches for them. And as per the ICC rules, someone who represents a test nation needs to wait for 4-years before he becomes eligible to play for the associate nation again. And there ended the international career of Nannes. I would rather blame the stupid rules created by the ICC. When Nannes was selected for Australia, there was no need for him to wait for even one day. But once he was dropped, he could no longer go back to the Netherlands. The same happened with Boyd Rankin of Ireland and Gavin Hamilton of Scotland as well. They played one or two matches for England, and thereby became ineligible to play for their respective nations.

West Indies is a regular test side while Netherlands is very new to cricket. But that's sad that Netherlands players are not availing this opportunity rather playing IPL. I don't think Netherlands have performed too bad so far, scored 240 in first ODI while 214 in second. The first they should try to do is to play there quota of full 50 overs.

I actually think there is nothing to be disappointed in because they have shown good performance even though they are not winning. Obviously, we have to remember they are not a regular test playing country like West Indies. Being an associate country in cricket I think they are doing well.

But if they had the "Colin Ackermann, Brandon Glover, Timm van der Gugten, Paul van Meekeren, Roelof van der Merwe, Shane Snater" that they are missing out on I think the result might have been different and I obviously think they would have performed better. And it is also understandable at the same time why the players play for various English county sides. And the players who perform really well also get pulled off by teams like England. That only further increases their problems.

Disappointed with the performance from Netherlands so far. They need to make use of these opportunities and win matches against test nations. It is the same West Indies who conceded a series loss against Ireland at home a few months ago. I understand that some of the premium Dutch players are currently playing county cricket and therefore unavailable for team selection. But these opportunities doesn't come too often. And also, they should not forget the fact that the ICC has decided to scrap the Men's Cricket World Cup Super League.

Cricket is a game of talent and skills when you implement quota you destroy the basic requirement of the game. I do not think quota should be imposed in sports as such. If you want to provide quota then give financial and coaching assistance to those new talents that are economically backward. You can implement quota at that level but not for selection.
That is correct - most of the time the real players luckly make their way to the national team. They are those on which the luck shines bright.
But we cannot ignore that fact that nepotism and favouritism do not exist it exist everywhere - in every industry and in every domain.
Actually this is true many people say that boards are corrupt but it's a normal human mentality whenever I will be the one in power I'll do things that favours me even if i do them subconsciously and obviously you have to be good at politics and negotiation as well to get your place into the national team, being in good books of the captain and the selectors obviously helps a lot in the initially stages, you would always see a captain while selecting the national team favours those who play with the captain in domestic cricket as well.
New talents need to be in the good books if they want to get selected in the national team. The selectors do take the opinion of the captain. In indian there is more emphasis to IPL then domestic cricket while selecting a new talent for the national team. This time a lot of players who performed well in IPL got selected to play against South Africa.

In Search of Incredible
In the first match, we saw the Dutch batsmen batting brilliantly, but they were defeated due to poor bowling. But despite their batsmen performing poorly in today's match, the bowlers are bowling well enough. West Indies lost their fifth wicket for just 99 runs. They scored 113 runs in 29 overs. Brandon King is still at the crease. If he can't extend his innings today, I think West Indies could lose today's match. I am enjoying the match now. Let's see if the Netherlands can pick up the first win of the series.
I thought West Indies will loss the match when they lost their first 5 wickets. Because, West Indies don't have well experienced players in their current squad. But Brandon King and Keacy Carty has made it possible for them. West Indies has won the match by 5 wickets. Brandon King has played very well, he deserves most of the credit. He has also played well in the first ODI. The 3rd ODI match will be played on 4th June. Netherlands is going to get whitewashed by the Windies.

The Dutch got a good start, but their middle order wasted that advantage. That said, their bowlers are fighting back as of now. After Logan van Beek got the wicket of Shamarh Brooks, Bas de Leede got two very important wickets. And then Nicholas Pooran got castled by Aryan Dutt. A couple of wickets more in the next few overs, and it is going to be very tight for the West Indies. And let's don't forget the fact that West Indies is not in a very comfortable position in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. Right now, they are at the 10th position in points table.

Yes, they have done really well on the batting side but they are bowling left them vulnerable. The bowling side was just not venomous enough. And with this bowling lineup, I don't think they will be able to do very well against a team like West Indies, Many good players are missing now.
Right now West Indies need 8 runs from 33 balls which is a piece of cake for them.

New Zealand's bowlers are experienced enough. England lost their first wicket by 59 runs. And they lost 4 wickets to collect 96 runs. Four top-order batsmen have returned to the dressing room. Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes are on the crease now. Both are very experienced batsmen. If these two batsmen are out, England's innings will not be able to go far.

west Indies      VS     Netherlands

The Netherlands finished their innings with just 214 runs today. My expectation was that they would bat a little more responsibly from the first match. But they lost all their wickets by collecting 214 runs in 48.3 overs. Their first three batsmen Vikramjit SIngh, Max O'Dowd, and Scott Edward's collections were 46, 51, 68 respectively. Besides, no other batsman has been able to collect more than 9 runs. It is almost impossible to win against West Indies with so few runs. West Indies scored 48 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 14 overs.

2nd ODI between Netherlands and West Indies is scheduled for today. During the first match, Netherlands gave a good fight with the bat, but they could not keep up in the bowling department. Kingma and Klein were no match for experienced batsmen from West Indies, and only van Beek looked threatening. In the spin department also, Pieter Seelaar and Aryan Dutt failed to trouble the batsmen. They may go for Philippe Boissevain today. Fred Klaassen, if included in the playing XI has the ability to trouble the opposite batsmen. I am not sure why he wasn't included for the first match.

I was impressed by the performance of the Netherlands batsmen in the first ODI. I never thought they would play so well. However, the bowling lineup was very weak. If the Netherlands want to win against a strong team like the West Indies, then their bowlers must play well. The Netherlands team needs some change. However, the West Indies are much stronger than the Netherlands. The Netherlands are unlikely to win any of the matches in the series.

The problem is Netherlands are missing the service of some important players. Even though the batting performance that they have shown is good I believe the bowling was the weakest link. And only one bowler will never be able to fill up the gaps left by the others.

West Indies is already a strong team compared to the Netherlands. Then Netherlands missing players is not helping them at all. I also believe that Fred Klaassen will add some stability to the team but I am not sure even that is going to be enough.

The Sri Lankan women's team is very weak. They have lost every match of the T20 series. And their performance in the ODI series is even weaker. They lost all their wickets for just 169 runs. My guess is that Sri Lanka will lose the other two matches of the ODI series as usual. Their batting and bowling lineups are both weak. I have not seen any experienced player in the team.
Sri Lankan women's team used to perform better, and now the results were different. At the last order Kavisha Dilhari managed to score 49runs. If that run hasn't added, the score might've got stopped within 150runs. The team need to work, with the prevailing economic crisis within the country they don't get much of access. On the other side Pakistan women's team is getting stronger by day. Winning the match losing just two wickets is simply good.

Pakistan Women V Sri Lanka Women

After a poor performance in the T20 format, the Sri Lankan women's team has continued its poor performance in the ODI series as well. Today, in the first ODI match, they lost all their wickets for only 169 runs. I don't think it is possible to win with a target of only 170 runs. At the end of 19 overs, Pakistan women's team collected 74 runs. They have lost only 1 wicket. Now Pakistan women's team needs only 96 runs in 31 overs.
The match is over. Pakistan women's team has won the match really easily with 8 wickets and 49 balls in hand. It was a really bad performance from the Sri Lankan women's team after they won the toss and decided to bat first. They could not utilize the toss at all and they lost really badly against a very inexperienced and young Pakistan women's team. They did not even put up a fight. It was very one-sided. And I think this is the way it is going to be for the rest of the matches also.
