I am not sure why said Asians are involved in cricket. I think you meant South East Asian. I am not sure about other countries but in india people love to play and watch other games too such as badminton, wrestling, hockey and football. The government of India has also started promoting and encouraging other sports keeping in mind the Olympics. To an extent it has also started showing results. Cricket is still the most watched and played sports but slowly other sports have also started to get the same attention.

In 1.3 billion people few may be interested in badminton or hockey but majority are interested in cricket only that's the prime reason BCCI has 38 domestic cricket team.. In last summer olympic, India won only one gold medal so you can easily imagine how much interest 1.3 billion have in other sports.
I second with that - in Pakistan only one athlete participate in winter olympics. And there were 2 assistant with him, now you can realize how much interest Pakistani  have in other games. Only a few people have interest in other sports. cricket is the game which can be played with least investment that is one of the reason kids play cricket and then they get interested in cricket.

In test match they also need to work on and try to cut few teams those are not able to have quality set up which can help them for bringing some good test playing guys because it's also very important for better quality and results.
Which teams do you think should go from the Test format and which non associate team is perform so well that they should be given a chance to play the longer format. I am not watching Cricket religiously as i used to in my younger years but still i have not seen that kind of solid performance from any associate countries so that they needs to get a chance to play International Cricket.
Mostly asians are very crazy for cricket and ICC is spending so much money to keep them involved in the game. They are hardly seem performing in Olympics. And this is very sad. For example Pakistani team is so good in cricket  and only one athlete participated in Olympics winter, surprising though!

If I remember correctly I think the Indian government was promoting all types of sports in the country. But now certainly the promotion have decreased and that especially happened during the Coronavirus situation.

Before that, there was a lot of promotion going on for almost all the sports that had some relevance in this region. But after all, cricket is the main sport that is played by almost everyone and almost all the people have an interest in this sport.

LOL.. it is ironic that you label ODI as a "time waste" and at the same time favor test format. IMO, both the formats are a wastage of time. In the long run, I don't think that any format other than T20 will survive. BTW, does anyone knows what happened to the ICC Intercontinental Cup? It was a tournament where the top ranking associate nations such as Scotland and Kenya would play against each other in 4-day format. The ICC quietly abandoned it, which is not surprising given their treatment for associate nations in the last few years.

Test and ODI are not a wastage for a generation that grew up watching these formats. Yes today there are very few people who like this format due to advent of ODI and T20I.
ICC is not in mood of converting associate teams into regular cricket playing countries that why we still have 8 to 10 regular counties that play cricket despite the fact cricket is century old game.

Even it's no popular decision, but now ICC need to overhaul their all system and stop this time-wasting ODI and just concentrate on Test Matches and T20 because ODI is lost it's all attraction and peoples have no enough time for watching this all throughout day with this they will be able to work on T20 format and having some good number of new teams as well those wants to play this entertaining format and this can attract some good market in many countries those are not having any cricketing set up.

There are no more triangular or quadrangle ODI series anymore. We only have ODI now in bilateral and World Cup. The advent of T20 has completely changed the cricket year. Now for two months we have iPL and rest of the year we have WC, bilateral series and rest of the T20 leagues.

Well.. there are quite a few lop-sided matches coming up next. If you want to watch interesting ones in ODI format, then you need to wait until some of the pig-4 sides are playing against each other. And looking at the itinerary, I don't think that it is going to happen anytime soon. The next ODI world cup is also around one and half years away. This time the world cup will take place in India, and therefore it is going to be even more exciting. But until then, meaningful ODI tournaments are few and far between. I don't even remember the last time I watched a triangular or quadrangular ODI tournament.

We would look fwd to some good ODI's.
Nothing good in cricket these days to discuss. When are some good matches coming up next? Any idea?

I think you are talking about the Bangladesh versus Sri Lanka series? Yes, this is obviously going to be a really boring series in my opinion also. I think Bangladesh is really that in test cricket and Sri Lanka is obviously going to do that against a team like Bangladesh, especially in the test cricket format. I really don't expect too much from Bangladesh because, to be honest, they cannot play test cricket.

ICC has taken back test status from Zimbabwe because of political reasons but haven't done that with Bangladesh despite there poor test performance for years. But in this series Bangladesh has chance not because Bangladesh test performance has enhanced but due to fact that Srilanka performance has dropped so low.

Well actually this could be a great thing if they gave a lot more teams test status but at first, they will be in the second division and when they will be able to prove themselves only then they will be able to play against the top teams and promote themselves to the first division.

And those teams which cannot prove themselves and really bad but are playing in the first division will be relegated to the second division. Pretty much like what happens in the football League that will surely be a great idea.

Zimbabwe is having the test status right now, but they are relegated to the second division along with Ireland and Afghanistan. It is a very meaningless division, as these teams almost never play any test matches. Do you guys remember the last time when Ireland and Afghanistan played test format? What is the point in giving these countries test status, if the other full members refuse to play against them? Not that I am a big fan of test cricket, but these teams deserve at least 2-3 matches per year against teams such as India and Australia.

This thread has been dormant for quite some time, because no major ODI tournaments are ongoing. The last series that we had was more than a month back, when the Netherlands toured New Zealand for a series of 3 ODIs (NZ won the series 3-0). The next ODI series also involves Netherlands, as they are traveling to West Indies to take part in a 3-match series (starting by the end of this month). And next month we have Afghanistan touring Zimbabwe for a series of 3 matches and then Netherlands hosting England for a short ODI series.

All threads less T20 are dormant because of IPL. Due to IPL there is no international cricket or you may say very limited international cricket going on. In Pakistan tour to Srilanka July 2022, ODIs are scrapped and now it will be only two test matches. "The ODIs wouldn't have been a part of the World Super League, so we decided against playing them," SLC CEO Ashley de Silva told ESPNcricinfo.
So it will be a complete boring tour.

I feel that both teams are equally bad hence I won’t be surprised if their matches ends up in a draw, but I believe that Bangladesh will perform better than Srilanka. Also I’m excited for Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe and my prediction is that Afghanistan will beat Zimbabwe in the ODI matches, but what are others predictions is anyone really expecting Zimbabwe to win?.

Life has become so hectic nowadays. We are having hardly any free time. I am staying far away from my hometown for the purpose of work, and haven't seen many of my close friends and relatives for many years. Whenever I have some free time, I try to be with my family, or travel to my hometown. Two decades ago, during school/college days I had enough spare time to watch or play cricket. But now this has also changed. Today's kids are overburdened with studies and extra-curricular activities, and they don't have much spare time. Even if they get some spare time, they spend it on mobile or Xbox.
Agree with you this statement because now I am also facing this same living away from hometown and having no contact with friends and many family members for years is very common thing in our life, but sadly we have to do this for some better life as day by day it's going harder.

In our school days good time to spend with friends and playing cricket and other games in streets were very common but now all happening on social media accounts and no one is having time for meet up which is big concern as I was checking our kids are also day by day going very lazy just because of this new technology and surely next generation is going to have some more hectic life because now things are changing very quickly, and we are losing human touch.
