India is seriously missing Rohit who could changed the results of some of these matches since Rahul is clearly out of form recently. Players like Pant keep letting the team down again and again consistently.
The team is actually depending way more on lower order batsman like Thakur, Chahar etc in recent times which says a lot. This particular South African team keeps impressing me.
It is strange that you are blaming Pant. Actually he did much better than the other batsmen. Scored a total of 101 runs from three matches and let's not forget the fact that he is the keeper as well. Rohit would have made a difference? I don't know, because Shikhar Dhawan was also in good touch as the opener (169 runs from 3 matches). KL Rahul failed, both as a captain and as a batsman. A lot was expected from Shreyas Iyer, but he couldn't live up to those expectations. But I would say that the batsmen did more or less OK. It was the bowlers who failed - especially Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin.
After losing the Test series to South Africa, India lost the ODI series 3-0 due to poor shots, poor timing, and overall in critical situation. Neither as a captain nor as a batsman, KL Rahul failed. Consider Pant's irresponsibility. With this kind of mentality, you cannot expect to win a big match. Rohit Sharma is a perfect choice for ODI captaincy according to former India head coach Ravi Shastri. IPL is now the focus of the BCCI instead of solving the problems with the Indian national team. Though I prefer Kohli as a captain, the politics at the BCCI are not good.

Listen, politics is always going to be a big problem in teams like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan.
And it's not going to be changing anytime soon. We have to accept that fact.
And most of the time it doesn't matter who plays better, there is certain favoritism going on in the team selectors' minds.

India vs South Africa 3ODI, India lost 3match.South Africa played really well.Their team combination was really good.India missed Rohit sharma,Jadeja and Hardik service. Rohit could change the game but unfortunately he didn’t play this series. South Africa batting and bowling both site were really good this series.

The team expects a lot more from their lower-order batsman because the top order doesn't seem to click at times. And at that time they seem to be so desperate. And this mostly is happening because the team has a lot of internal problems which is preventing them from performing at their best. These problems need to be fixed as soon as possible.

I have to say that in my opinion, Rohit is a better captain in comparison to Kohli or Rahul. Because of Virat, I think that he wins by his own performance, not because of crazy good captaincy. But Rohit is a better captain and makes better decisions.
And it's about the whole team failing to win, nothing came together for them to win. And I have to agree that the bowlers failed badly

More or less batsmen did some contribution. From the bowlers end there is big lagging. Also sometimes at the time of need the batsmen doesn't perform, one such has happened with pant in the last ODI. Since 2020 in ODI matches the wicket fall of opponent was after 100+ runs. In an ODI against Australia Indian bowlers marked the worst, unable to take a single wicket scoring 258 runs batting second. From there atleast Indian bowlers should've made changes in the play, but nothing big has changed.

Nowadays 287 is not a big target and team who is playing to avoid whitewash should have chased that quite easily but it went other way round. Chahar one wrong shot was the reason why India lost this game. Had he not panicked in the end, it will be an easy win for india. Rohit is a better choice for captaincy then KL Rahul.

Yes true i was very confident about India winning this match and Deepak chahar made it look as if India will easily clinch the game but after his wicket match looked dead. I am surprised to see india getting whitewashed by underdogs south africa, this is the Indian team that has to get ready for the world cup next year. Even though world cup is going to be on the home ground for India which is very favourable for them still I feel this team isn't really robust enough to fight in the world cup

A very sad end of Indian cricket team tour to SA, apart from 1st test they lost every game here. This tour must be an easy win for India but they end up having a whitewash in ODIs. Meanwhile its a good sign for SA cricket, this shows that they are not totally down and out rather have spark to play  quality cricket.

India lost this match by 4 runs. That wicket of Deepak chahar again changed the match and india lost all their wicket in 283 runs. Chahar batted brilliantly and bough in back in the contest. But in that situation he should have stayed till the end and win the match for India.
Deepak Chahar had brought some hope for India with his thrilling performance. This match was full of excitement in the death overs for his performance. India was going to loss the match, but he brought the hope back for them. Anyway, India got whitewashed by South Africa. I was thinking that India will win the last match, unfortunately the lost it by 4 runs only.

I can't believe that India lost his match when they were so close to a win. Even if Deepak Chahar was out and could not finish the match for India but what about the rest of the batsmen.  Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal should have scored 8 runs in 13 balls but unfortunately, they could not do so. Quinton de Kock played some great innings in this series and he deserved the man of the series.
It is really a pathetic display from India and I remember the last tour of India to South Africa where India dominated the host in all departments and won the ODI series as well as Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav were peak in their form at those times. Now, India is struggling under new coach and captain and I guess it would be too blender mistake from India management to change both of these role at a same time as transition is becoming too hard unnecessarily.

Another thing, India need to address immediately is, hectic schedule of matches. India must be the only country, I guess keeps on playing since last T20 WC and in next 2 months, IPL will start again and not sure what are series are scheduled in between for those 2 months of time as revenue is the only goal for BCCI and performance is only next to that, it seems.

Now India have just 4 wickets remaining and 57 runs to be scored. Chahar and Yadav are in the crease, the batting order have come to an end.
Deepak Chahar is batting brilliant and now India just need 21 runs in 24 balls, i never thought of watching the match and since it is becoming a close one, i started watching the match. The tail end is exposed and South Africa can still pick the 3 wickets left and take the team to victory.

Jasprit Bumrah is reviewing an umpire decision now, the match is really close and DRS helped India now as the bat was not involved. If India could pull this victory it would be great. Deepak Chahar playing a special innings.

Edit:

Deepak Chahar is gone, India need 8 runs in 13 balls. Cheesy

Chahar could've taken the match to the end. Anyhow hats off to chahar and Yadav, because only through them the match went close to winning. If not the match could've been won by South Africa earlier. Everyone were expecting a win for India, but they weren't able to make it. This is one of the worst series for India losing the three ODI. India needs to work more, because this kind of performance isn't enough to play against West Indies and Sri Lanka in the upcoming series.

This is the main problem with india that batsman gets settled and gets out. Not able to finish the match and stay till the end. Dhawan and virat got out after scoring half centuries. Even sooryakumar and Iyer got in and got out at wrong stage. And same thing with chahar scored a fifty and got out. You have to stay till the end to win the match for your team, but that has not happened.

Dhawan have given good start and the same is being continued by the performance of Kohli. The winning percentage of India has increased to 57% and the next two wickets is much important for South Africa to turn the match towards their side. As of now 138 runs required from 123 balls with 7 wickets left. This looks like a winning match for India.

The game is very much balanced now as India need 120 runs in 17 overs. Good thing for SA is that kohli is gone and India now has 6 wickets left. One or two wicket here may tilt the game towards SA. India need runs and don't wanna lose anymore wicket.
I doubt that India is well poised in this situation. India has already lost 4 wickets and if you remember the previous games this team batting order have collapsed. I am sure it will be the same this time unless someone from the lower middle order does something thing different. After this tournament one thing is sure KL Rahul will lose his job as a captain.
Agreed, Rahul will surely be taken from the captaincy position. This time India got an opportunity, but they weren't able to make use of it. India had a good start and then the players played, but they weren't upto the level required to win the match. Now India have just 4 wickets remaining and 57 runs to be scored. Chahar and Yadav are in the crease, the batting order have come to an end.
