I won’t say Pant played bad but could he have played better then the answer is yes, he has the power to be a match winner and the coach now needs to tell him to start playing smartly rather than hit every ball he sees. Another reason given by commentators was Rahul looked confused and he’s yet not ready to captain the team, so will Rohit perform better I feel the answer is yes because of his experience.
It is difficult to tame a player like Rishabh Pant where he performs if there is no restrictions set on him. The majority of his performance happened when there was no expectation from him and he performed well and came out with outstanding performance in Test matches and won the game.

Regard the captaincy of KL Rahul, he will be under immense pressure to lead the team when majority of the batsman were struggling and that pressure may have impacted his personal performance as a batsman in the ODI series. Either give him time or find a replacement.

Afghanistan VS Netherlands

This is the third and final match of the series. Afghanistan has won the previous two matches. They have dominated in both the matches. The pitch assists the bowlers. And since the bowlers in Afghanistan are more experienced than the bowlers in the Netherlands, it is becoming easier for Afghanistan to win the match. In today's match, Afghanistan collected 93 runs in 24 overs. They lost only one wicket. Today it looks like Afghanistan will set a target of over 250 and as usual, they will easily win the match.
Afghanistan's batting is very slow. Because they know they can win even if the target is not too high. Afghanistan collected only 183/3 in 42 overs. They have not lost too many wickets but the players are still wasting too much ball. Their striker rate is below 100. Now they should collect at least 60 runs in the last 8 overs. But looking at their batting, it doesn't look like they can do it. I think their innings will end between 225-230.

In the last 8 overs, Afghanistan managed to score 71 runs and was able to give a huge target of 255 runs. It is not expected that the Netherlands will win by batting with such a big target. As usual, the Netherlands has also lost this match. They managed to score 179 runs. The Netherlands lost all their wickets in 42.4 overs. Afghanistan has won all the matches of the series.
In all the three matches Afghanistan was batting first. In the first match Netherlands won the toss and elected to bowl. In the last two matches Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Maybe if Netherlands have bat first, they might've touched 200 runs. Anyhow the team is slowly making its move. Compared to the strength of Afghanistan, Netherlands need to improve lot.

I think Rohit is a good choice as a captain for the Indian team.
From the Indian team's perspective, it is important that they make a final decision on a captain and give him some time so that he can settle and lead the team.
No captain can perform under pressure if he knows that on the poor performance he will be removed from captaincy. No matter the results, Rohit or any captain should be retained for one to two years and give him a fair chance to prove himself.
Right now, suddenly after Kohli era we are facing big dilemma in Indian squad as no one is ready for replacing him, so now the best thing is just give Rohit captaincy and Pant and one more member of Indian team vice captaincy for short format because this can bring some healthy way and better replacement for future.

KL Rahul is completely failure in his first instant and most chances no one will give him second chance in near future so right now they have just one choice which is Rohit and then bring some young and better mind player for his assistant which fill place for future.

Nice to see many people following this low profile series between Afghanistan and Netherlands at Doha. Afghanistan is a far better team and it was obvious that they will win the series. Even though the Netherlands were whitewashed in the series, yet the man of the series was given to Netherlands batsmen Scott Edwards who scored 208 runs in the series. I thought the Afghanistan bowlers Rashid Khan or Mujeeb Ur Rahman should have been given this title because of their good bowling performances which made Afghanistan the winner.

Today Afghanistan set a target of 254 on the board, as we know they dominated the game and won the match by 75 runs. Afghanistan complete a 3-0 ODI series win against Netherlands. Netherlands collapse badly after an outstanding partnership of 103 runs between Ackermann and Edward. Netherlands could win if continue their batting like opening batters but anyway congrats to Afghanistan as they all out Netherlands in just 179 runs.

Netherland were 103 -1 and then rest of the team just collapsed against experience Afghan bowling line up. Netherlands will take some good experience from this series which will definitely help them grow in future. Meanwhile its good to see Afghanistan team continuing there wining performance despite regime change in there country.

I think just because Rahul lost the first series under his captaincy does not mean he should be replaced by Rohit Sharma. He should be given another chance. I agree that Rohit Sharma has proven in the past that he can captain the team but it doesn't mean you should chuck someone out as he was not able to win the series. Players are to be blamed as it was the team that lost and not the captain.
Atm there is no question of giving KL Rahul another chance as he was only filling in for injured Rohit. BCCI already announced about Rohit when they literally sacked the Koach from the ODI captaincy but unfortunately Rohit got injured.

KL time might will come but this is not a right time. They might groom him for future skipper or may be Pant, who knows? It would be interesting to who would be Rohit's deputy.

Listen, politics is always going to be a big problem in teams like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan.
And it's not going to be changing anytime soon. We have to accept that fact.
And most of the time it doesn't matter who plays better, there is certain favoritism going on in the team selectors' minds.
Agree with you here about this statement because we have no solid domestic setup which bring some natural talent and give better leadership lessons here mostly groups and personal likes and dislikes have more importance rather than merit and good policies handling Kohli issue is very poor from BCCI and now having some big troubles around them for having better replacement is another headache for them, so they need to do things in positive way currently just Rohit Sharma is capable for handling this all KL Rahul is failure in short term, so they need to set him for some time and then bring some better and long term policy for this all otherwise they are going to have bad time in next few months which can hurt them badly.

Right now the best way for BCCI to get out of this situation is to hand over Rohit Sharma the captaincy and maybe in that way India will perform better and these types of talks would be over.
And I do not understand what is up with these boards who seem to be absolutely unable to conduct with players properly.

Just to let you know under Hitman's captaincy India won Asia Cup, Nidahas Trophy and also under his leadership Mumbai Indian have won 5 IPL trophy, second best is Dhoni as far as IPL captaincy goes.

There are reports coming in that BCCI is set to hand over all format captaincy to Rohit, quickfix for 2 years max.
I don't know about the test format but for the ODI and twenty-twenty format, Rohit should be the easy favorite. Unless the board wants to do some more experimenting and have some more bad results.

Obviously Rahul is going to look confused and lost when the pressure comes because he is is just not experienced enough to be the captain of India. And Rohit Sharma has been with the team like forever so so he will not better what to do in what situation and who will do that better.

And most of the time they're actually don't follow the code of conduct. Obviously, this generally happens because of the communication gap between the players and the board.

I have to say that in my opinion, Rohit is a better captain in comparison to Kohli or Rahul. Because of Virat, I think that he wins by his own performance, not because of crazy good captaincy. But Rohit is a better captain and makes better decisions.
I disagree. Rohit hasn't proven himself as a better captain when compared to Kohli at the international level yet though he has proven himself as a better captain in the IPL.
What I think is you are giving Rahul a chance with the captaincy but not to Sharma which does not make any sense. It's better to experiment with something that might have a positive outcome right?

I don't have a good opinion about the elevation of Rohit Sharma as the captain, but at least we can agree that he's far better than KL Rahul. Age is not on his side, so within the next 2 years or so, the BCCI needs to look for a replacement. Two of my favorite choices are Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer. But as you said, Rishabh can be immature and irresponsible at times. And Shreyas is yet to cement his position as a regular player in the national side. But who else is there in contention? These are the only two young players who have the capability to lead the squad.
I really believe India should try giving Rohit Sharma the captaincy and see how it works out because he has been around the team for a long time so he knows the ins and outs very well and he also has the experience. And honestly, I am not a fan of giving any young player the captaincy where they are much more experienced players.

It is strange that you are blaming Pant. Actually he did much better than the other batsmen. Scored a total of 101 runs from three matches and let's not forget the fact that he is the keeper as well. Rohit would have made a difference? I don't know, because Shikhar Dhawan was also in good touch as the opener (169 runs from 3 matches). KL Rahul failed, both as a captain and as a batsman. It was the bowlers who failed - especially Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Pant under-performed in my opinion and Rohit would have definitely made a difference. He could have replaced Rahul as both the captain and as a batsman.

Also, Thakur single-handedly decimated the South African batsmen in one of the tests while Ashwin shouldn't be blamed since the pitches aren't spin friendly and he didn't concede too many runs.
