Some nice shitstorm happens here.
We are where we are.
If TH made that they said, they done all perfect.

Avalon clones from china, which i seen link here before in thread is scam,
there are also mistical customers from Spain who got chips apart from Zefir B1, but maybe it's just urban legends.
gen2 will not arrive in september, then another 8-10 weeks lead time.

Question is in chips only

Correct me if i'm wrong

Thanks

We seem to be making progress with project management issues--

Terrahash-- please work to close out the open issues that your company is responsible for before 8/15.
Should you fail to complete those obligations by then, my project management skills wont help your case beyond that date.
1. PSUs (open ETA TBD)
2. Cases (open ETA TBD)
3. Head Sinks (open ETA TBD)
4. PCBs (open ETA TBD)
5. Board BOM (closed)
6. Avalon (closed)

If you cannot meet the 8/15 date, be sure to issue a Force Majeure letter to your customers immediately as well.
This will help your case in court when you fail to deliver.

Also, in your Force Majeure letter, include the option for your customers to opt for a partial shipment (if case + psu was ordered). Include basic visual installation instructions for when the completed, fully populated boards are delivered so that your customers can DIY. Cost of shipment should be footed by your company at 100% obviously but you will recover much more in labor, time, and public relations.

Please post pictures of the shipment to calm nerves. You've been less than honest so far so itll be important to regain the confidence of the public.

It is good to hear you have some more chips in hand but get item #4 "4. PCBs (open ETA TBD)" knocked out asap. It is confusing that you said the PCBs are a 2 day lead time and bkkcoins said they were on the way a week ago... we still havent heard whether you have the new boards to try to get the hashing right.

I believe what is clear is that you will miss the 8/15 date clear and cut -- obviously getting the units to hash at 4.5ghz would be key here after you get #4 resolved. Please post working unit ASAP so that itll calm everyone's nerves.

Time is running out on the other open items that can be perceived as intentions other than to deliver on time and are serious red flags...

Terrahash,

Be careful before starting to buy more chips. There is a reason people are unloading them easily. I would try and fetch next generation unless you can get bitfury chips immediately, otherwise, you are going up a river with KnC and other companies putting out new models.

That the group buy leaders are so silent regarding this whole deal, you have to ask yourself "what is up?" Even TH is not saying much. How many sample chips did the group buy leaders get?
I think the GB leaders just really do not know what to do ! What can they do ? About the same as us really, sit and pray for chips, its not like we can turn yufu upside and shake them out of him, although i can see some satisfaction in that..

We just received 60 sample chips from Avalon. Apparently from the 20,000 chips order we placed on June 20th. There was no status updated on the order page, and we never received a tracking number. As knightlife pointed, some other people who placed order around the same time have received chips in the last couple days in the same fashion.

i thought your orders were in may?

Now on the otherhand, if TH put out a reassurance email, of guaranteeing a full refund should we never receive our product, then i might would be inclined to wait and see" on the chips,,, but we have nothing to go on at this point?

Miner, TH already covered this in his last message. You wouldn't get a full refund if Avalon chips don't show according to the below quote.

We have only ordered components that were either absolutely necessary for assembly (BOM components) or ones that had a big lead time (Cases, heat sinks, cables). Boards and PSUs, once ordered, can be delivered within 24-48 hours. The reason we did not spend money on these is, in case Avalon chips never show up, we would be able to refund some of our customers money.

Again, in case the chips never arrive, we might be able to return a portion of everybody's money. But if you insist, we will go ahead and order PSUs/PCBs etc and spend all that money. Your choice!

I know atomic, I read that to, was just trying to drop a hint to TH to come off their no refunds or refund "some of the money" stance Smiley

Yea, while we all want to better the bitcoin network let's get real, nobody wants to pay for a miner and run it at a loss to do so.  I am right there with you watching daily and if the chips don't show up real soon I will also have to go the chargeback route.  I don't want to and would rather have the boards but it does me no good to get them after they have little to no chance of breaking even.  Hopefully this clears up real quick, those with BTC orders basically have no choice but to wait and hope that the miners have more than historical value when/if they do arrive.

Considering the difficulty JUST hit 50.8 Million just an hour ago, yes, a 35% increase in 2016 blocks, and its already estimated to hit 60M+ by next week because blocks are being solved every 5 minutes, I am considering asking for a refund. Chase says I have up to 120 days to dispute a charge. Paypal I think said 20 calendar days? I heard it was 45 in June...

I understand that this is all yifu's/bitsyncom's fuck up (or organized scam, seems more like it every day), but TH must understand that the same blind hope and risk we put into TH (and others), TH also put into Avalon. Avalon has hedged all of the risk to the talented DIY community, and left a void where accountability is to be expected. TSMC can't help, Yifu wont answer his damn phone, Group Buyers are silent til shipments arrive, and the DIY hard working engineers on this forum are getting the shaft all of because of Avalons lack of communication and at this point, integrity. They are starting to make BFL look GOOD now. That alone worries me.

This is why I used Paypal/CC to purchase 2 K64s just in case something like this happened. Its the SAME EXACT LOGIC yifu/bitsyncom used. Minimize risk WHENEVER POSSIBLE. Yifu made it seem like it would be a fun hobby when he announced chip sales with a 'No BS' terms of contract. So much for his 'word'. We are now 5 WEEKS late on chip shipments?! Difficulty alone has tripled since April, and all of us are gonna be lucky to see any decent ROI (if at all depending on who gets them 1st) with Avalon chips at this point. Oh and they still have to be mounted to boards, assembled, tested, and shipped. So unless they arrive within the next week or two, Yifu/bitsyncom just sold $14 millions dollars worth of bullshit.

Yes, it is, but what good is a strong bitcoin network when one entity is fucking over a bunch of talented developers globally?

What the Bitcoin community needs right now is accountability. And it needs it now.

Terahash needs to speak up to avalon IMO. As a seller of goods if you can't sell the product because parts didn't come in on time its up to you and not customers.

This is a very tough spot for TH and customers.   If they do a charge back, they are hurting Terahash not Avalon.

sad.

On Steamboat's thread, a different group buyer reported to have received his sample chips and there was no update on his Avalon order page. That means that Avalon is shipping things out to people without tracking numbers. Not stellar news, but at least there is some movement. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.2923161

Marto's first batch was ordered on June 17th. If the 30 sample chips he just received were the standard test batch sent for orders, then they had to be for his order placed on 6/17. My point is, if they are starting preliminary fulfillment of June orders, the May orders should be coming very quickly. I'll keep my ear to the ground.   Smiley

Here we go! don't see bitsyncom mentioned.... Bloomberg: http://www.businessweek.com/news/2013-08-12/new-york-subpoenas-bitcoin-firms-in-probe-over-criminal-risk

In addition to BitInstant, Dwolla and Coinsetter, the regulator sent subpoenas to the following service providers: BitPay, Coinabul, Coinbase Inc., CoinLab, eCoin Cashier, Payward, Inc., TrustCash Holdings Inc. and ZipZap, the person said.

Butterfly Labs, a technology company, also received a subpoena, according to the person familiar with the matter.

Christina Hirsch, a spokeswoman for Winklevoss, declined to comment. Margit Wennmachers, a spokeswoman for Andreessen Horowitz, said the firm did not receive a subpoena. Bloomberg LP is an investor in Andreessen Horowitz.

In addition to Winklevoss Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, DFS sent subpoenas to the following investor groups: Bitcoin Opportunity Fund, Boost VC Bitcoin Fund, Founders Fund, Google Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Tribeca Venture Partners, Tropos Funds and Union Square Ventures, the person said.

Supposedly AMEX allows users to open a dispute within 60 days of promised delivery.

https://twitter.com/AskAmex/status/105337964913111041

I guess the "promised delivery" is late July, so there should be a bit of time left for AMEX payers to dispute.
