MANILA, Philippines — With barely a month to go before the deadline on Dec. 31, some 20,000 foreign Philippine offshore gaming operation (POGO) workers are expected to leave the country, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

There may be strict orders from the government to shut down the gambling platform. Here I understand that foreign workers have been given strict warnings that if they do not leave the country within a certain time limit, they will be subject to deportation proceedings and blacklisted, so this suggests that the gambling platform has expired or the government has decided to shut down the gambling platform.

And besides, something illegal was going on here, due to which various complaints were filed, this POGO has decided to close down. A strict warning to close a platform comes only when the maximum number of complaints are filed about that platform.

Happy New year 🤗
Pogo is involved in many illegal activities; this is the reason why they are forced to be closed, and most of the scammers are also in POGO based on the news that I watched before.

According to some reports, Chinese nationals who work on PoGo have been deported, which also left some problems like having a Filipino child.
Pogo has lots of issues, not only illegal activities.

I don't know why they do some illegal activities if their casino earns a lot? Human rights, illegal drug trades, there are many reasons why they are forced to be closed.

I think this should be a big blow on the Philippines economy looking at the numbers involved here. We all know that this is a major source of revenue for the Philippines and how come the people are not protesting against it. Does the government have economic backup plans for such actions they have taken? 20,000 is not a joke here, this is not what the country should be loosing out of their economy at this point in time as it generates revenue for them and employment opportunities. I sorry the nationals and the looming unemployment rate that would hit the country next year.

I like this beautiful pictorial excerpts. Grin

Gambling no matter how people choose to see it brings in revenue which helps the local economy through employment and this money goes back into the locality when the employees spend that income in buying goods and paying for services. Unless this is not the case in the Philippines where this gambling hub that is closing is located. Hundreds of people are going to lose their jobs and be back on the street. I hope the government have an employment program in place for them to get the people employed immediately. As for the gambling businesses in the hub, they'll simply move to a new location that will be more friendly and make new customers there.
In this case as told from the article about reasons for the shutting down of the supposed casino by the government is mainly not one borne out of unfriendly business environment as there are other existing casinos operating in the Philippines. This very casino is said to be a hub for some illegal activities such as human trafficking, drugs and other corrupt practices.  Only a bad government will harp on making revenue from any company as such.

The ban was issued after several criminal activities, such as illegal drugs, human trafficking, kidnapping and cyber scams, were reportedly discovered connected to rogue POGO hubs.

Its not about the closing down of the gaming center which we may also call a gambling casino, but the main reason behind the closure, i understand that a country may have some rules or laws that may restrict their citizens form active participation in activities like this, while on another reason could be due to the regulations which the operating organizations may not fully adhere to, nevertheless, i think its something that the government may always have to prioritize the peoples choice over their own rule of law, this is in other to help satisfy the needs of the people by granting the required freedom for getting entertained through gambling.

They cannot regulate and control it, and its a cause of corruption among government officials, so they opted to shut it down, disregarding the profits that they are going to lose.
The senate investigation proved that POGO posed a security risks to the nation because of the influx of foreigners
that they suspect are spies of other nations, so the government chooses to lose money through taxes rather than compromise their security. I think its a good move; the government can still keep up with the economy.

POGO's first arrival here in the Philippines was already scolded by the last president Roa Duterte.
Now, it's time to clean it up so that this administration can feel better for themselves. This is politics, expect something like this will happen especially with money involved.

If they were really guilty of the last paragraph of the article then it’s a nice move by the government to close down the business - no matter what they represent on the outside as long as they are really doing things like human trafficking and illegal drugs behind the scenes then it’s always god for government agencies to go after such companies.

But if that last part was just included just so the government would have a more appealing comments on what to talk about or their reasons for closing it down then that would be considered a shitting tactic but if they are really involved in trafficking humans the kudos to the government.

Whatever the reasons for closing the hub are legitimate and whatever the way people may view gambling (haram or sin), it cannot be ignored that these companies represent an important source of support for the budgets of countries. The taxes imposed on this type of service companies (entertainment gambling) may reach more than 50% of the total profits in some legislations and in my country the taxes withheld on the profits from betting and types of competitions reach 66%. This leads us to conclude whether it is really wise to close these companies for any reason and lose tax revenues in addition to what this will cause in terms of sending employees to unemployment. I am not saying that we should not hold accountable those involved in suspicious activities, but this can be done individually without having to shut down the service completely. I do not know the laws in the Philippines, but I am sure that some decisions need to be reviewed and amended.
On the moment that these places had been shut down or have stop operation then it will really be pertaining about legal aspects on which this one really been caused up for it to close its doors. Doesnt matter about those reasons whether ethical or not but knowing these places then they will really be that operating for them to make out some profit and in terms of taxes then government would really be that loving on getting that huge chunk considering that these are profitable business on which simply means that they are getting big too. Knowing Philippines that does have that corrupt leaders and government members then that would re ally be something beneficial for them, if this one turned out to be closed then pretty sure that there are those individuals who had been affected by this decision.  Tongue

The government would actually be biased if they paid more attention to the economic benefits they would get from these casinos while failing to monitor the activities of these casinos to be sure they are not into some sort of illegal activities that are harmful to the people.  The report says that the supposed biggest gambling hub in the Philippines has been involved in lots of illegal activities, which include human trafficking. Without being sentimental, the action taken by the government against this gambling hub is in the best interest of the people. My only concern is that the reports against POGO should be true and not some blackmail by politicians just for their own selfish interests.
Government aside from collecting revenue and taxes from service providers within their jurisdiction, it also pays more attention to the environmental impact of those businesses on the environment, this is why we can see a big casino such as this one being closed down without checking its revenue advantage on the economy of the nation, so is all about the impact of the casinos on the host community and the country at large that determines either there will keep operating or get closed down like in this case.

So unless the government comes out to clear the air on why the casino is closed after operating for a year, we will just keep speculating what may be the cause and reason for the closure of the casino at this point in time, and what the reason behind that closure is.

I think this political. They are offering Chinese people most jobs and this may be the reason behind everything that the Philippine president got harsh on the gambling sites. This kind of thing has started some many months ago.
Yeah probably due to a war to the previous President before. Its kinda escalating since these POGO are probably related or who knows are somehow backed by the previous adminstration. Well some of the Gaming shores are illegal and thats what the President does. But if a member of Pogo or one of it is legally following rules, and still subject to kind of this means its kinda political approach.

I guess this is just a goe location picture and not a pointer to the main building housing the casino, although reading through the content on the news, I did not see any where their mentioned what the offense was for closing down the casinos, also why you may not be able to see a sign board of a casino may be because most casinos are located inside a bigger building let say hotel or a mall or even a nigh club.

So I know from the beginning that we may not be seeing a building that carry the mark of the casinos to accertain the physical building and structure.

Well, for me profits made by a country at the expense of the citizens lives or security isn’t worth it. If there was a way for them to stop such activities as kidnapping, human trafficking and the rest that were reported without interfering with the company I’m sure the government of that country would have considered it since they are making profit off of the company but it seems like there was no other way thus the reason for their action (just my thought).

I actually don’t know much about this POGO so pardon me if my comment doesn’t really follow - I’ll try and read much about it (I only just read the surface of it).

Maybe it is political or not, this is what I found out:

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday ordered an immediate ban on widespread and mostly Chinese-run online gaming operations in the Philippines, accusing them of venturing into crimes, including financial scams, human trafficking, torture, kidnappings and murders.

Executive Order No. 74, signed by Marcos, prohibits POGO activities, internet gaming and other offshore gaming operations in the country. POGOs are given until Dec. 15, 2024, to end their operations in the country. A guard on duty said the establishment used to employ thousands of foreign workers, mostly Chinese.

I think this political. They are offering Chinese people most jobs and this may be the reason behind everything that the Philippine president got harsh on the gambling sites. This kind of thing has started some many months ago.

Don't worry about the link, Philstar is one of the newspaper's name here in our country and since not many people are buying newspaper anymore, they turned online.

About the POGO, they are online gambling dens so it's not like you are trying to find a casino in that feature but more like what inside of that building that was share by OP. They are all inside those building and that's where they will do their business. POGO's first arrival here in the Philippines was already scolded by the last president Roa Duterte.

This is one thing I don't like about politics because they always think of what would benefit them and not what wouldn't benefits them, maybe it could be a regulations issues which didn't help them of benefits them for any reason and who would love to shut it down due to their self interest and personal benefits. Yeah, for about the building I was thinking about that as well, though when I couldn't sight it from the picture I had to think it could inside the building itself.
