All I use is EVGA 1300.  It is a rock solid PS plus 10 year freaking warranty is unbelievable.  I'm sure there are others that are great out there but 10 years OMG.  Oh yeah and OMG ETH =)

none at smiliar price there is nothing out there that inexpensive.  Best evga 1600

evga 1600 t2
evga 1600 p2
evga 1600 g2

evga 1300 g2   should be good

rosewill tokamak  I got for 250 usd  with bucks on eBay I rate it just under the evga 1600 t2 in quality

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rosewill-TOKAMAK-1500W-Full-Modular-Power-Supply-80-PLUS-TITANIUM-Certified-/172455843785?hash=item28272b57c9:g:aMIAAOSwLOtYXGf2

I have owned all of the above and the oem that comes with this is not as good as any of the above.

but it is around 90-100 once you count the shipping

So it may be worth using .

or you can go the finksy route or optimizer route with server psu's

Dont forget that most of these high end PSUs have remarkeable RMA and warranty plans -- ie. EVGA 10-year warranty.

Although I do use custom server PSUs & PICOs for simplicity and deployment, I am a happy user of EVGA 1000-G2, 1300-G2 and 1600-G2 - very reliable and top notch quality.

there is also a GIGABYTE GTX 1070 MINI ITX OC Card, which will 4 sure suit into the chasis of B+ Smiley you just need proper airflow to keep em cool

how many zotac or gigabyte 1070s can we fit? more than 4? how thin are they and how thin are the panda 470s?

Gigabyte ITX 1070 is a standard dual-width card, it's just SHORT (7" or so vs 10" more or less for most other cards).
I've got 3 of them, and like them for my 3'd slot since most motherboards insist on crowding the 2'nd and 3'd slot close together.
I'm amazed nobody has any RX series boards like them - I'd think Gigabyte would have done a RX 470 or 480 in the same form factor by now (TDP is very close on the RX 480 vs the GTX 1070).

The Zotac is more like 9" - it's shorter but only by a little compared to most other cards of it's class.

I make both open air and active cooled 1070 rigs with zotac mini 1070s.

The rear of the card fully exposes the heat sink; making it perfect for using with active cooling.  They are 8.2" long; shorter than most other cards with a comparable heatsink.

they are 83 or 85% at best.

I compared my panda psu to this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rosewill-TOKAMAK-1500W-Full-Modular-Power-Supply-80-PLUS-TITANIUM-Certified-/172455843785?

watts were 80 different.  but the psu costs more.  80 watts is 2 kwatts a day about 20 cents  so in a year it is 73 dollars  I can get the titanium for 250 usd  on sale that is a lot more then the  cheap oem. it would take 2 years or more to pay for itself

there is a photo of a burnt oem psu.

Ya but it looked like he had it in a heat box with the picture I saw.  Not standing up for the PSU, its not an EVGA or anything but it is decent for the $ for sure.

What PSU would you guys recommend in place of the PSU panda offers for better performance / similar price?

What do you guys think of the stock B3+ PSU?

good enough? or buy something else?

Not really sure how important the PSU is in rigs like these.

I ahve a ton of them and the PS seems pretty decent.  I would not hesitate to buy them if I were you all.  240V ONLY POWER SUPPLY be mindful of that.
I also have a bunch of there PSU together with the B1 miner. All are running totaly okay since january now.

What about efficiency?

Have you guys tried plugging your Panda's into a brand name high rated PSU and compared the power usage?

if you pull the board you could add these 1070's

they are 1 slot!

http://www.anandtech.com/show/11271/galax-and-kfa2-list-geforce-gtx-1070-katana-a-singleslot-geforce-gtx-1070

if they do 440h each  that would be  3500h

or alternate them with 1080ti

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1330809-REG/msi_geforce_gtx_1080_ti.html/?

so  8 cards

1070 + 1080ti + 1070 + 1080ti + 1070 + 1080ti + 1070 + 1080ti

440h +  700h + 440h + 700h   + 440h + 700h   + 440 h + 700h  = 4560h  for zec at 1400 watts

Would it be better for panda to sell just the system without the GPU and we add ourselves?

For us yes  for them no Grin

@Truthchanter I agree with them

Dual mining with a panda is too risky

Running ETH full speed with the MX is also not advisable since these chips were designed for notebooks etc.
At best 28Mhs per card without dual mining seems stable.
ZEC and XMR at full speed looks OK.

Are you sure the B3+ is using MX cards? They look a lot bigger than other MX cards and 2-3x as big as Panda B1 model's cards.

-

You guys who think we shouldn't be dual mining (and some of you dont even want to run on full speed) do you have any information or data to backup the dangers of doing this?

Seems you'd need quite concrete info to forgo dual mining DCR or something else when it's adding ~20-25% more profit.

You can dual mine I just don't because I am out of power and can't afford to turn that on.  I'll get you some watt testing on it later today.  I would do DCRI like 16 I think.  That dont effect ETH and mines DCR.

Would it be better for panda to sell just the system without the GPU and we add ourselves?

it would cost less to ship, thats for sure but they would have to greatly increase the cost of their boards to make reasonable profit on them. So you'd see something like $500+ with CPU/heatsink included to be profitable and make it worthwhile.

I'd probably pay $400-500 for a custom board like that but not many would.

Maybe we as a community put together something to show interest?

I tried that.  They will not sell the board when they are selling out of pandas every time.  =*(
