As far as I know if a project has an airdrop they will not ask ETH to give you a token. But there are indeed a number of projects or airdrops which require paying ETH for the token fees but not in large amounts. If the NLC asks for a large amount or whatever it's better you don't send it because after all the airdrop is free.

That's not an airdrop. Its called selfdrop, usually this method has been lurking the forum since then. The process where they set up smart contract for tokens to be sent depends on the eth that you send on their token contract. People should be aware of this and dont be confuse from a giveaway since its a type of crowdfunding activity that involves direct payment and receiving od tokens right away.

Hi All, a friend send me a message with info about a new token name NLC (Night Light Coin) with domain nlccoin.com
But the condition to receive the token airdrop is have to transfer ETH to this address: 0x36afEe66EA8d6a99A9c6c7e676D512eA4A19bC83
I'm not sure if this project is real or from any scammer to cheat everyone. Please give me some advice
Thank you
What do you mean? You need to send eth before they give you the airdrop? This is a scam for sure. Airdrop are suppose to be free. If they ask something as an exchange for it, this is completely a scam. Do not just give your ETH address to this kind of stuff because there is also a possibility that they can hack you.
agree, many do it like this maybe with the reason for gas payments and so on, but if many participants are tempted then it can be imagined how much is collected from an unnatural method. actually it's simple if there are people who ask for something with a promise to give a new token that is not yet known, of course, certainly a fraud. don't trust gifts by requiring requests to send something, obviously that's fraud.

Airdrops are totally free. If you are required to send ETH then you should think twice. There are lots of legit airdrops. Don't be fooled by some old tactics to fool traders and investors.
Yes, I have also participated in several legitimate airdrop programs, and they did not ask anything from the participants, so we can immediately assess if there is an airdrop program that asks for a number of ETH from the participants, then it is purely SCAM.

If it is a token of airdrop, I don't think there is any need to worry as long as we don't provide the private key. If you can register on the exchanger and have a good price, I think it should be grateful and not have to worry about the token being a scam or not. It's different if we invest because we need deep research

To begin with, any airdrop or bounty that requires you to send them money first before they send you tokens, is a NO, NO.

On no reason, should any project request for eth, private keys or other sensitive stuffs to issue out an airdrop token.

Be careful, whatever form, links and sites at which you get airdrops from.

Airdrops are free, do not send your ethereum to the address you provided. I have participated in many airdrops before and base on my experience, most of the airdrops that ask everyone to send any payment is a scam. Most of the time, even if you send the amount required and received your airdrop, the token will have no value in the market.

Please do avoid this kind of activity,

Airdrops should be free, no airdrops that is legit are requiring bounty hunters to pay first. If any of them request every participants to send any amount of eth as a fee to receive the airdrop, don't be fooled and immediately stay your distance away from those kind of airdrop.

It'll be easier to tell about that if you were give us more source. And it's depend on that how much ETH they offered you. If they were offer you little amount eth for gas price then may be it's ok other than it's doubt able. I saw that coin in CMC, if they are running an airdrop then you can easily ask their Telegram group Chat 1 and Chat 2. If you didn't find any announcement there about airdrop then better choice stay away from it.

if NCL (Night Light Coin) ask for large amount eth to get an NCL token it is SCAM but if it ask for a small amount eth for gas transaction it is not SCAM

Hey, what are you trying to say? What's your definition for small and large ETH? Imagine demanding for 0.001 ETH and 1000 participants sends to them, that's a full ETH (1 ETH). Gas fee for sending tokens is so cheap and very cheap when sending in batch.
I scanned the wallet address on etherscan and to my suprise, there are incoming transactions of 0.01 ETH which I'm sure that's the amount demanded. We should not let greed take over us because they promise space and moon. Every ETH sent to them counts.

Here is also a telegram channel known to have always shared airdrops like the one OP mentioned. https://t.me/AirdropDetective , the channel is very fond of this and I'm sure it's associated with this scammers and helps in promoting them.

Never heard of Night Light Coin. But, airdrops are supposed to be free coins you receive on your wallets after you register or complete certain task. You don't have to pay anything for it. Either your friends account got hacked and the hacker is trying to scam everyone on his list, or your friend does not know what he is doing. Either way, you should alert your friend about it. Even if you do wish to proceed (which I would strongly advise not to!), make sure you do proper research about the project.

in my opinion it is an airdrop scam program. because the airdrop program only asks for your wallet address and personal data such as the email address only. if they ask for a deposit in advance like that then it can be sure the program is a scam.
If that was a legit airdrop and that will never ask to send even a small amount of ethereum. In another way, it can be done through creating a self airdrop that the users can claim their own token by themselves.
This is a scam airdrop and from his story and i can confirm this trick has already used so many times.

I can say that this is just a piece of scam in which you need first to send some ethereum before in order to get the token airdrop and just based on the initial information it is clearly that he/she will just scam you in sending first an ethereum and after that he will just vanished just like nothing happens and the ethereum that you have been send to him will be just nothing and the token airdrop that they have promised will be remain unknown and you will not get it. Just a piece of advice, don't get me wrong just don't trust people who requires to send some ethereum or bitcoin just to claim your token.

Probably, it's a pure scam and just believes in what we say here because once you still listen to your friend that you need to send Ethereum to receive the airdrop trust me, you will gonna end up losing money. Most of the airdrop today are worthless or you can even call as a "sh*tcoin" and have you already join in some telegram channel that's all about airdrop? if not, try it and I guess there is only 10% that you will earn from it. It is my first time to hear that project OP and always do proper research especially if someone wants you to invest in the coin that they suggested to you. Just be aware that there are plenty of scammers that want our money that's why we need to be careful and don't ever trust someone who you just met.

I also agree with all the previous replies here which Airdrop is a free token and sometimes you just need to do a simple task to join.

Just avoid your friend who wants to waste your money on nothing and don't ever try his suggestion about the airdrop or basically, just ignore it.
Yes airdrop is airdrop, it is free and only requires simple tasks such as making an account or posting something about that airdrop but not a chace that an airdrop will require you to send some money first, the moment you experience that drop it for it is a 100% no doubt scam or possibly your friend is the scammer, just keep in mind that airdrop requires you anything except for sending some money other than that it is not an airdrop.

It could be a sign of the scam because, as far as I know, the airdrops participants don't need to send or transfer any ETH to any address from the project. After all, the teams will send the token to the participants after the program ends. As long as the participants fill the requirement, the token will be sent to their address without transfer some amount of ethereum. So we hope that you don't transfer any amount to them because they will run away after they get your funds in their wallet. Be careful with another project that similar to that one.
