This is epic news. Personally, I am a fan of poker and I felt that it never really took off in the crypto world when compared to FIAT gambling sites which is why it's great to see Stake taking the initiative to improve its popularity.

However, I hope they launch it as an in-house game which could attract more gamblers for obvious reasons.

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
Third party service provider or just on their own I think with huge user base of stake, they will come in good profit out of it it's a win-win situation on their end.

Do not get your hopes up too high... Eddie promise new features and new gambling sites to people in restricted countries, every streaming session ...and it seldom happens.
I think there is a difference between a new game and a new feature.
A new original game doesn't bring new players, a new feature like poker would 100% do.

Besides poker and casino, poker would be the 3rd leg of the site. Other than the costs for development and hosting there is also no risk of losses in this area. Lean back and collect rake.
Well, I think that will make sense if he delivers that promise, for now let's just say it's just a plan. Not that it may bring them forth some good profit but having these kind of features just make players will have something to choose from. It's boring nowadays if you just play one game especially luck-based ones, from time to time it's good to test your skills and play with real people even online.

He is creating content and these things might be in the planning phases, but nowhere ready for implementation. He even laugh at himself, when he makes promises like this... but let's see what happens.

Most of their budget goes into marketing and not into development of new features.... just look at the time that a new original game were last, launched.  Roll Eyes

Question is though, will they make their own poker software/network where only stake players will be able to play or will they join a network like ipoker, ggpoker, 888 and so on.

Hopefully it will be their own poker network because they have their own big player base so I think they want to provide their own network and become a competitor to the other existing provider/network. Stake has a big name already in the gambling industry, their advertisement is almost everywhere in the internet as well as in real life through the sponsorship with football club and others. Maybe it will be great for their business if they can have their own network and try to attract poker players from the other existing network.

Now I am wondering if video poker is a different game altogether from the real poker?.
Forgive my ignorance though, I am a total newbie to poker .

Yes they are different, video poker game is a game that you play against the house while real poker (usually called by pvp poker) is a game that you play against other players.

On yesterday's stream Eddie said Poker should and will be coming to stake some time soon.
He didn't mention a specific time though.
Its been time , Stake had been serving gamblers for long years and so as Poker that had been the most popular gambling in the world so why not stake is serving their gamblers with this game?
and also this will add many players towards them for better result.

I think that's a great idea. They basically get risk free money through collecting the rake. Having a super big player base this would be a HUGE opportunity for stake and for their players.
they will for sure and that is the stake of course  Grin

Hopefully they are asking the players for their input when creating this! And please, make some moderate rake.  Grin
Well with your post here , then surely they will gather the concerns and responds of gamblers as Bitcointalk is one of the best place where they an gather points from gamblers.

Yes, Poker is one interesting game that we can play in our leisure time. I just remember a long time ago when Zynga poker is very popular in my place where we always play anytime in anywhere, which means If stake can make that Poker is enough friendly to us and also able to play on mobile phones, I really sure they can get the market for all people without exception. I hope they can prepare it carefully, and focus on the development of mobile phones like Zynga, and create a lobby with can play with a minimum bet like $0.1 just for fun.

This is good news for gamblers who like the game of poker and also customers of Stake.com because this addition can make it easier for gamblers to play the games they enjoy on Stake.com.
I'm sure they can prepare everything better so that development can run smoothly and can really be relied on by gamblers who play there.
Maybe in the near future there will be another update provided by Stake.com and the addition of poker games will be realized soon.

Usually I would condone self-built software for a casino that is aiming to introduce poker, and I believe that Stake (being apparently so "well funded") would create their own software. However, I would not trust poker coming from a casino that has tens (if not hundreds) of open, unanswered complaints. I do not see a good future for Stake and their founder considering recent (seemingly valid) allegations that he is violating laws in his country by recommending people to use a VPN to bypass jurisdictional limits...That will be a big blow when/if those allegations are proven true. Even if they reach this goal of introducing Poker to their platform, they have a lot to make right if they want it to succeed in the long term.

For people with skill at poker that might become a lucrative site. Many degen gamblers that just lost with casino games and sports might "try their luck" at poker, fishing time.  Grin

If poker should be added to Stake it means we are going to be seeing more poker tournaments with high rewards from Stake since they will put in a lot of effort just to promote the new addition, but then we all just have to anticipate the best from the company since they're known for high professionalism I'm the dealings in terms of development and promotions.
I'm very curious to know if it will only be available on Stake.com or if they will have poker across both stake.com and stake.us? Poker players span the whole globe and they would have a far bigger reach putting it on both platforms, but will a law dealing with sweepstakes sites hinder adding it?

It would be great if that happened. To be honest, finding a place to play poker using crypto is very difficult right now.

Really? I didn't realize that was a thing. I mean Poker is one of the most famous games in the gambling industry, how come they missed it till now? Maybe it is because I am not really into Poker that's why it surprised me that much. Anyway If that's the case then stake.com nailed it right in the head once again. We already know stake.com has a top quality reputation and I am sure they are not going to mess this one up. Poker players will be happy with these news without a doubt.

Maybe it has something to do with KYC which renders it difficult to implement? I am not sure on why poker was such a challenge to be implemented given that other card games such as black jack, etc. are accessible in most online gambling platforms that I have played.

With this fact, this is definitely great news as this allows at least some interaction with other players. Knowing that you see a live game with real people participating makes the gambling game more interactive and alive at the same time. I hope that they add more features that cater towards interaction among players.

Excellent news! I've only tried pokerstars for now and i didn't like the user experience in there so much. I am betting stake will build a better one.

I also kinda hope that they will start to host big world tournaments, as they would have gravitas to do that and casino infrastructure for money would be in place already. All they need is as sleek user experience as they have in the casino and i guarantee that people from other poker sites would come running.

Big news, I personally expect Stake to stay with their original design and trend to implement their own software whenever possible. I think they have the talent and the experience to pull off their own thing, instead on depending on third party providers or sponsorships with already existing poker websites.

I am bit curious whether they would do something different with the match making or would going to stay with the market's way of pairing poker players. Any how, if this is indeed happening I will give it a look and try to play, hopefully I won't lose much with my rusty poker skills.  Tongue

this could actually be a good addition to their gambling site. with their large gambler base, they could probably easily fill poker tables(of course it is not certain but with the large number of gamblers playing on their gambling site it could probably will), they could also attract poker players that haven't tried their gambling site.

Question is though, will they make their own poker software/network where only stake players will be able to play or will they join a network like ipoker, ggpoker, 888 and so on.
My best guess that they will keep it in house because KYC is not mandatory. Some abusers might want to run up some amounts on sports/casino and the chip dump it to somebody on a different site through shared network.
I agree with this, since KYC isn't mandatory chip dump could become an issue if they joined a shared network with other poker sites.

for sure, it won't be that hard to find poker players among their loyal patrons. just think of the forum poker players who from time to time are arranging a poker tournament and they are already attracting good number of players. how much more of a known and reputable casino offering such tournament? so looking for players on this game won't be a challenge for them. we will see how they will execute this game in the days to come.
they may adjust their set-up according to how many people will be interested and it will pan out among players.

Difficult how? There is SwC, Americas Cardroom, Betnomi, Betcoin ag, and not to mention Americas Cardroom has at least 2 sister sites Blackchip poker and True poker. There are other sites out there as well, I just cannot remember their names.

The only thing that people may or may not like is most of these sites accept crypto for deposits and convert to usd balance, but they also allow crypto withdrawals.

As far as stake offering poker, it's never a bad thing to have more options. They have a super large player base and will probably do great with starting poker. I wonder of they m ay be interested in hosting a bitcointalk series?

Anyway, I think it's a nice idea. Poker with crypto still is WAY too small.
Let's hope they can create a fun and safe environment with a lot of different poker variations like NLH, PLO, Stud games, Chinese Poker and so on.

Hopefully they are asking the players for their input when creating this! And please, make some moderate rake.  Grin

It looks like finally I will be able to showcase my skills in Texas Holdem Poker where I was a big master in the Sit n Go tournaments of Zynga in Facebook  Grin.I have a great amount of patience when it comes to be playing and fighting for money but I assume who hasn't  Grin. That is a great idea and it is something new and unique because people have been asking here several times in the forum which website can they play with crypto and to have a big user base,I believe no one of the sites even Scwpoker which is the most well known one to not have the user base of Stake,so also me looking forward to play in Texas Holdem as that is the only poker discipline I like.

This is great news indeed, reading the op, I had to visit stake site to be sure that poker is not already on the site, as I know I used to see that game while going through their in-house games, I discovered what they have there is video poker..

Now I am wondering if video poker is a different game altogether from the real poker?.
Forgive my ignorance though, I am a total newbie to poker .
