It is better to keep the coins that you really think have potential rather than numbers. But the fact that there are too many varieties may be disadvantageous. Because all of these control and trading can be very difficult to follow up. This could lead to damage.
Well, portfolio matters a lot because if you have investment in a long term like Bitcoin then you will have a lot of time to handle other sources as well which can be of short term and is better if you have short term as well as a long term investment source like Bitcoin. Bitcoin has a lot of potential to give you profit but yes, it is not easy to handle it and you will need to have a grasp over crypto knowledge.

How many cryptos should Ihave in my portfolio? Are there one recommended diversification ( like having 3 or 4 coins) ?

You should only acquire those who you believe that will have a future in your portfolio. It doesn't matter how many even one can make you rich if you pick the right one.

I usually only keep few coins in my portfolio because of two reasons. One I do not like getting spread to thin because I do not see it getting any better when you get to too many coins, there are few ones that gets pumped but usually if the market goes up everything goes up and when market goes down everything goes down as well so getting spread to thin makes no sense to me.

Second reason and definetly the biggest reason is that I do not have too much invesment amount and without the proper funds there is no need to invest 10 dollar into 200 thing when you can invest 200 into 10 things. So right now, I have most of my money tied at bitcoin, a bit on ethereum and used to have a ton of investment into nano but it worths really low now and now I am investing into spectrecoin hoping it would go up really high with the new v3 wallet and mobile app.

It is up to you to decide the number of different coins you can have with your portfolio depending on factors such as your estimated returns per each coin, risk associated with that coin, your total investment amount etc.
I prefer diversification rather than holding just one type of cryptocurrency as it reduce the risk. But that doesn't mean you should have all coins in your portfolio. It could  be the best coins which cover different aspects.

There are about 15 different altcoins in my portfolio. 9 of them are in the top 40. The other 6 are located between the top 100 and the top 200.
That's a lot of altcoins you've got, I'd rather have 5 altcoins that has good community and has a better market cap than having a lot of it but having low quantity on my bag. Diversifying too much isn't also so good that it makes your investing power little to the proper coins that possibly can give you better returns in the future.

By January 2018, it was clear that having 2-4 altcoins would be enough.
That's not only by that time but you should apply that starting today and put higher portion to bitcoin.

Just depends on your investment capital. It is better not to invest a huge capital in a single coin. Rather, invest in more than one coin as it decreases the chances of loss and increase the profit returns as well. Most of the coins are just pump abd dump coins, so you should be careful about which coin to invest in. Do consider the coin's undergoing projects, market capital and also its latest statistics before investing in the coin of your choice. In my opinion, you can invest in 4-5 coins at a max at the same time.

I have more than 200 cryptocurrencies in my portfolio. Thanks to KuCoin and airdrops Smiley
that is soo much, maybe if some of them rise sharply you will earn much money.or atleast btc rate rise again maybe your asset worthed more than 1 btc.

I doubt that, as what he said thanks to KuCoin and airdrops so technically mostly of it are worthless so there's no way it will be worth 1btc. All of these 200 tokens will be nothing but a reminder of how shit the market.

it really depends on how much money you have in your pocket or wallet, may be big or small, as long as it does not belong to your savings, you should invest money that you are willing to take risk, because crypto trading is not that unstable in terms of price because of the volatility of its market price, some even invest their money that came from loan, if you are well enough to trade and knows the ins and out, you can invest as much as you can, but it is still best to invest money that you are willing to loose in case of a dump.
Even if you have so much in your pocket, it is always advisable to go with the number of cryptocurrencies you know you can handle at once. Sure, for long term investors, the ability to hold as many as possible will always be there anyway as long as they believe in the long term of the project they are holding which is something that is necessary to know before even investing into any project.

In this case, they can as well just build up their portfolio; allocate certain percentage of resources to this portfolio as the case may be. So at the end, it just personally depends on you and for sure, your pocket will also determine a whole lot as well.

2-3 is what I think the sweet numbers since having to much numbers of crypto in your portfolio will be a bit messy especially if are new to trading them but if you think you can manage more than that then having 5 -6 be the maximum

I have 15 different coins in my protfolio.
Before I stopped mining I decided to mine several coins with low difficulty and I am not planning to sell them until they are worth something.

Considering you're planning to hold this for long term then 15 coins is still good but if it's either for short to mid term then you'll just be messing your own life. Diversion is essential but too much coins isn't profitable anymore.

There are no limits to owning, you only need to see some potential. The risk must exist but high risk will be proportional to the results you will get. But some people have mandatory coins like btc and eth

There is no limit to how many cryptocurrencies you can buy, you are free to buy as much as you want. The only thing you should have in mind is that more coins means more money, so if you are going to buy a lot of coins you really need to have the money to do so.

If you don’t have much money then it will be best if you just buy a few coins. And I will recommend Bitcoin, XMR, Ripple, Ethereum, NEO, Litecoin and BCH. I think these are the ones that are trending in the market now, so you choose any of them.

There is no limit of cryptocurrencies that you should put in your portfolio as long as you have the money to invest on them. The more diverse your portfolio becomes, the bigger the chances of getting a very good profit out from it too. One thing you should keep in mind is to hold whenever the market crashes.

I remember owning almost 50 several altcoins when the market is alive but now I'm just holding more or less than 15 altcoins. In this current condition of the market, it's best not to buy so much and just hoard the promising ones. 10 altcoins would be fine and 5 if you still don't have much experience.
I have never held more than 30 coins actually but sometimes, I usually go a little above if I see some market opportunities and some chances of huge gains. At the end of it all, it actually depends on how well you are going to go with your investment and all depends on your pocket a whole lot too.

I have always noticed that as long as you have your list of the coins you know have potential and you are at least able to eliminate based on some higher level of prospect which you see and you also have enough money to be able to spread the risk across board, you can decide to go for as many as you can handle at once, but usually it takes monitoring the progress of a coin to be able to do right as an investor and if you are holding just too much, the ability to do this may reduce.

In my opinion, if you're just starting out, I'd keep about 2-3 coins max. Then when you can gwt the handle on the market move on to 5-8. I myself keep 10 coins at the moment but I'm heavily invested on top crypto currencies and just a few alt coins that I'm keeping an eye on. No matter how many coins you got, all that matters is potential.

It's really up to you which coin you should have. Aside from investing, also join those airdrops. You'll never know if a coin moons.
