Last round wasn't really exciting, but probably it wasn't worth to expect such things like we saw in Bundesliga today. Easy Porto and Benfica wins means that Benfica got trophy. Deserved it for whole season performance, but at one moment it really looked that they can bottle it.
So, we didn't had changes in positions that matters. Worth to mention that Vitoria Guimaraes and Arouca goes to Conference league qualifiers, it was decided few rounds ago. Santa Clara and Pacos de Ferreira relegated, they will be replaced by Moirerense and Farense, while Maritimo will face Estrela in promotion/ relegation playoff.

This was my first thought as well. It now looks like a solid win for Benfica, but the Bundesliga has shown what can happen. But when you play a season with 87 points after 34 games and you still have a very difficult game to play, it shows that there has been fierce competition until the last moment. I don't know but you compare this to the Bundesliga, it's almost a shame that a team like Bayern Munich only finishes with 71 points and then even worse is that 71 points are enough for the title. That doesn't shed a good light on Dortmund. What are they waiting for? Bayern to win even less games? Benfica and Porto played a great6 season and pushed each other every weekend. Even Braga and Sporting have more points after 34 games as 3rd and 4th than Bayern has as the champion.

What you said also makes sense.

What do you think?
Do I open a new topic, for the next season, or do we keep this one?

Really bad to see Sporting Lisboa out of UCL, i think Braga doesnt have the level to compete on Champions League, and i also think they are not gonna pass the qualification roundof UCL.

why should you be skeptical about Braga's performance in the UCL later, based on their statistics last season, they played quite well and have produced 25 wins, 3 draws and 6 defeats. UCL is an event that is always awaited by all football clubs in the European leagues and congratulations to Braga, Benfica and Porto who have succeeded in getting UCL tickets.
Of all the Portuguese clubs, only Sporting and Benfica, who lost to Inter, have shown a very good level of play recently. That's probably why it's unusual to see Braga in the Champions League instead of Sporting. I don't remember Braga achieving good results in the European Cups. Interestingly, their best result in their history was in 2011 when they lost the Europa League final to Porto.

I'm thinking of keeping this topic, I don't think there's any need to open another one.
As for the Portuguese Cup, we can also talk here, because I don't see the need to have a topic for that.

That said, regarding the Portuguese Cup final, I think Porto will win. Braga is a good team, but they usually play poorly against the big three (Porto, Benfica and Sporting).

We already have the odds of the final:

as expected from Porto, just after 2 minutes the Vitoria player received a red card and that was clearly a maneuver to ensure that Porto won this game with 100% certainty and they just had to wait for some problem in the Benfica game so that they lost the game against santa clara which didn't happen, even with all the cheating of porto this season benfica managed to be champion, but it was something that was very close to not being able to, but when porto becomes champion they tend to have a big difference of points to the point of not giving any space for their direct opponents such as Benfica and Sporting to be able to react, which makes Porto become champions in advance.

A red card with 1.5 minutes in the match is really rare hahaha, I don't remember ever seeing such a quick expulsion
But I'm glad that was all that strange that happened and then the two matches were "normal"

About next year, it would be a shame if Benfica would disband the team and sell their players, since it was a very good year, and by the way, Porto and Benfica had a good year, unfortunately they were disqualified from the Champions League, but they lost to the team that is in the final
Both teams could reinforce themselves more to try and get a better classification in the Champions League next year. Of course, if money allows, it is hard to compete with the money of the English clubs

I leave you an invitation for the next season, to follow the Portuguese league more closely, and to discuss these situations together.  Wink

So, you want to say that this foul wasn't worth of red card? Don't know honestly, it's not 100% moment, but I've seen plenty of games where similar fouls and red card for it didn't raised any questions.

The foul itself is worthy of a red card. Strange is on the last day, when Guimarães no longer have their goal achieved, the player makes that type of foul after 2 minutes of play. It's those strange things we've been talking about, that happen in Portuguese football.

I leave you an invitation for the next season, to follow the Portuguese league more closely, and to discuss these situations together.  Wink

For Benfica, a draw is enough to be champion. So, the championship is almost guaranteed for Benfica.
Now, Benfica cannot enter the field with the aim of a draw, because that will result in defeat.
I believe that Benfica will play a good game at home against their fans, and beat Santa Clara. So you can party!

Exactly, because there's still chances to Porto being champion, and the chances are real and possible.
Obviously it's Benfica against the last team on table, but there's some chance and Porto need to do their best to guarantee the victory

I predict both teams, Benfica and Porto will win their matches. Braga can also win but at this point there's nothing left, they are in 3rd place no matter what and it's guaranteed to champions league qualifiers.

If I bet on a multiple of Braga, Porto and Benfica wins, it's only 1.56 of odds, I think it's not worth, maybe this time I'll only watch the match of Benfica and enjoy the last one.

@Slow death, do you believe it is still possible for some strange things to happen for Porto to become champion?
If this happens I will be shocked
Congratulations to Benfica for their record 38th Portuguese league title. After losing three matches in April eyebrows were raised as to wether they can be able to win the league that they've dominated from the start of the season but they held on to finish the season in grand style.
Porto really gave Benfica a good run for their money but at the end they didn't make it to overtake them

it was a very incredible game for benfica, congratulations, and the penalty in favor of benfica was clearly well scored by the referee, we saw in the VAR that santa clara's player caught the ball so there was no longer any doubt that he had to score a penalty, at least benfica did not use cheating as its biggest rival has used it recurrently, and we managed to be champions, but that in my opinion does not change some things in which I think that benfica is very weak, benfica when playing against porto even porto not using cheating they manage to beat benfica easily, when benfica plays against sporting they draw or lose, they have difficulties in beating sporting

and unfortunately I don't see benfica being champions next season or going far in the champions league next season, that's because after this game benfica will undoubtedly sell its best players although it will profit a lot from it, but it will make it next season get weaker and the port will no doubt buy good players and next season they will be back strong to the point where they no longer need to use cheats to win games

Congratulations to Benfica

Source

Benfica won 3-0, which was the same result as Porto's 3-0 victory

The championship was very disputed between these two teams that were only 2 points apart in the end, incredible to think in the mid championship the difference were 10 points and until the last round there were still chances for Porto to be the champion.
I predicted right about 2 victories of these teams, but I didn't bet this time as I said

In the last 10 years it has been like this:
Benfica 6 titles
Porto 3 titles
Sporting 1 title

Now that the Portuguese championship is practically over, all that's left is the Braga vs Paços Ferreira match, the only important match for this end of the season, since Benfica and Porto are out of the Champions League is the final of the Portuguese Cup, Braga vs Porto, which promises to be a very good match and is still worth one last bet.

Edit: user Jossque posted some minutes before me about the results of both matches and the title of Benfica, while I was writing my message, but I'll keep my post because there's a nice photo and more info about the championship, last 10 years and about the Portuguese Cup  Cheesy

Benfica became the champion after the matches played in the Portuguese league. Although both champion candidates beat their rivals 3-0 in their last matches, Benfica managed to reach the championship by using the advantage of the point difference between Porto. We can say that Porto had a more comfortable match than their opponent because Guimaraes left the match with 10 men in an early minute. Of course, it was not enough for Porto to win the match, although they increased the difference to 3 in the first half.
The last match of the day will be Braga vs Ferreira. Braga will be comfortable as they are guaranteed 3rd place.

it seems that Benfica has got a guarantee to become champions this season because it will not only end in a draw but the chances of winning the match against Santa Clara are very large. on the one hand the game takes place at home to Benfica which gives more confidence to beat a team from the relegation zone like Santa Clara.
betting on this match is very favorable even though the odds are only 1.07 on the underdog but i would bet on the asian handicap Benfica -2.5 with 1.6 odds much better.

Tomorrow season will end and winner will be decided. But it's difficult to expect that Benfica will make gift to Porto. 1.06 odds for Benfica win against Santa Clara says a lot.

Sporting ended their season with a difficult win in completely meaningless game against Vizela, despite that they let Vizela to score first. I had this game turned in on background and it wasn't most exciting game.

I also think that Benfica will win the game against Santa Clara. But, this is the Portuguese League, unfortunately very strange things happen as @Slow death has been commenting.

Some of the matches I watched were strange, yes, with almost last minute goals, or dubious plays.
As I liked betting on Portuguese soccer, and I am able to watch several matches because of streaming, I will also follow the next season, I want to follow closely from the first games.

I still maintain my opinion about Benfica being champion.

Take a look at the rules:

Obs - Rules are in Portuguese of course, because it's from the official source, I didn't find in English. I can translate if anyone asks
Source

For Porto's team to be champion it needs:

1 win in the last match against Vitória
1 defeat of Benfica

or

1 win in the last match against Vitória
1 draw for Benfica
and taking away the goal difference which is 11, Benfica has a goal difference of 59 and Porto has 48, so an example: Porto would have to win 6-0, and Benfica would have to lose 0-6.

The first option is the most possible, but I don't believe that Benfica will lose the game, after all they will play at home and against the team that is in last place in the championship.

Thanks for explanation. Obviously I had Porto in my head, no idea why I wrote Sporting, probably late night was the reason. So, for Porto it looks almost like mission impossible.

I also think that Benfica will win the game against Santa Clara. But, this is the Portuguese League, unfortunately very strange things happen as @Slow death has been commenting.

By the way, I thought that only the Portuguese had the precession for strange things to happen, but based on the words of @Slow death this precession is international. To regret.
