Benfica was in their ruthless mode yesterday as they thrashed Estrela Amadora 7:0 in their Portuguese league game. The scoreline was a very impressive one but what I think was more impressive was Angel Di Maria's hattrick in the game which he managed to score in the first 17 minutes of the game. The 36-year-old former Argentina international once again reminded all who's forgotten about his qualities of how lethal he can be with the ball on his feet. Incredible performance I must say. It seems like we saw a lot of goals scored in the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup. Some time ago we saw Sporting CP without their great coach Ruben Amorin, Sporting CP was still able to perform well and destroy Amarante FC with a landslide score of 6-0. And now we are shown an extraordinary result between SL Benfica and Astrela Amadora, where in that match Benfica brutally destroyed Amadora with a landslide score of 7-0. And sure enough, the extraordinary thing in that match was when we saw the old player A. Di Maria who only needed less than 20 minutes to score three goals against Amadora. A hattrick was created in that match, and no one expected that the 36-year-old player would do it. Many people began to doubt his ability, but A Di Maria proved his sharpness in this match.

We have biggest upset in Portuguese cup so far. Reigning champions Porto were eliminated by Moreirense. Porto took a lead first, but Moreirense managed to respond with 2 goals. Difficultto share deep insights without watching match in full and when Flashscore or Sofascore doesn't even shows stats of this game. Everywhere there are Porto fans, they are commenting angrily about this game, asking for the coach to be fired. Here in my country, there are many Porto fans and they are complaining about this coach. But this was predictable. I even commented to some of them that the new Porto management made a serious mistake by dismissing Sergio Conceição. He could have had some bad behavior, but he was an ideal coach for Porto. Now the new Porto management will have to deal with many complaints from the fans, and this will only get worse, because I highly doubt that Porto will be able to do well in all the upcoming Portuguese league games. This elimination is the beginning of a big disaster for the new Porto management. But is there any good reason to fire the coach when he achieved to win 9 out of 11 games... I think they are exaggerating and it only looks like a suboptimal season because because Sporting Lisbon wins it all. Of course any team looks worse when there is one team going at a 100% record in a season. Everything in the Premier League looks so bad for most teams because it looks so great for Liverpool. It does at least feel wrong when a coach is supposed to get fired with that record. It is not like they are going through a crisis.

Age is just a number for such players. You expect him to perform badly because he is 36 years old, but he comes out and scores 3 goals in 16-17 minutes. Angel di María is a true football legend. Benfica, on the other hand, intimidated their opponents with their seven-goal victory. Sporting Lisbon's clear superiority continues in the league. We can all see Benfica's desire to get close to them.

These people who are following Portuguese football didn't forgot about Di Maria and that he can make such performances. And I'm glad that in late phase of his career he didn't decided to go to Saudi Arabia, MLS or other retirement league, but continue to play on high level in Europe.

Braga is surely good team and things were good in first half for them as they take good lead of 2 goals but in second half we have strong reaction from the Sporting CP as they score 4 goals and increase their winning streak in League games by 11 which is good advantage for them while they have no challenge.
Yes, Braga is good and consistent team because every season they always finish the league in the top 4 or top 3 and they are team that is able to enliven the competition because they often make it difficult for some of the top team here. After the defeat against Sporting, Braga had to occupy 5th place for the temporary standings, but then they will compete in two other competitions, namely Taca de Portugal against Leixoes and the Europa League against Hoffenheim, I think this is pretty interesting match.

I have the feeling that more than half of the last goals conceded by Benfica were due to Otamendi's mistakes. I'm not saying that he's a bad player, I just think he needs a break, a few rest games to get back into shape. He didn't have any holidays this year, and that's not easy for a player his age.
I have quite similar memories about Otamendi when he played in Man City. In general he is high level defender, but sometimes he just makes such mistakes. And now when he isalready 36 years it's already getting more difficult to play like in his prime and mistakes is getting more frequent. If you look at how successful Ruben Amorin's coaching track record is, when he moved to MU, the big hope to bring MU back to its glory days was certainly focused on Ruben Amorin. And the signs of the Red Devils' revival were marked by Ruud who had found a strategy and rhythm of play that was suitable for the Red Devils, which slowly brought MU back to winning ways. And if only the presence of Amorin and Ruud who accompanied him could be an extraordinary collaboration, then it is quite possible that MU will return to being a respected club and compete at the top again.
It's already getting a bit off-topic, butthere was similar hopes about Ten Haag after people looked what he achieved with Ajax. MU after Fergusson is just such difficult club for coaches.

It was a very easy victory for Sporting. I expected Sporting to have difficulties in this game because Braga is a problematic team, but Rúben Amorim showed that he is a great coach. This was his last game for Sporting. I still don't know who will be the coach capable of continuing the good results that Rúben Amorim managed to obtain at Sporting. Honestly, it is difficult to imagine that with Rúben Amorim's departure, Sporting will become champions.
Easy win? Did we watched same game? How it can be easy when you're down 0:2 at halftime and took a lead only on 89th minute. Sporting keeps perfect record in Portugal, but it will be interesting how they will without Amorim. While Braga, they way how they choked shows while they're always 4th. What was easy is Benfica win against Porto. Didn't expected that game will end 4:1. And that only goal scored by Porto, not that they created great moment, it's more about no communication between Trubin and Otamendi who will take ball. From start of the game, things were completely under control of Sporting CP as they were doing good job, but their conversation in first half was not good which create some problems for them but in second half we have good change of strategy for them which helps them for having 4 goals even their star player Gyokeres fail to produce any action in last game of Ruben Amoriom with them, but good thing happen Sporting is still undefeated in 11 games, and now they are clearly going to have good advantage. 39 goals scored and conceded only 5 goals are surely not easy thing which is happening in this season with Porto is also surely now good challenger but it's never been easy for them to overtake and have any solid chance because Sporting CP is currently well-balanced with Ruben Amorim done good work during his stay here in last few years for this club.

Sporting beating Braga I thought was a “predictable” result, even though Braga are a good team, Sporting are at their peak But Porto losing to Benfica like that was a big surprise. I thought a draw would be a more normal result
It was one game to forget, with penalties, mistakes, own goal, 4 goals conceded... Now Sporting are more comfortable leading by 6 points
It's a good thing I didn't bet on this matchday, I thought it would be difficult to predict the results and I'd lose the bet

In second game, Benfica after having change of coach improving which is good sign in coming days we will have them at the second spot while Porto is now after 2 defeats need to improve their defense because they conceded 8 goals which are most in top 3 teams even their attack is also good, but things are not favourable for them while they are trying to stay in hunt for catching Sporting CP at the top or staying into top 2 spots which is surely not easy while we have good comeback by Benfica which is now good with new coach and change of their game, but they needed to be had some improvement in Champions League.

Manchester United is a team that has had many good coaches in recent years and none of them managed to win the Premier League and they didn't get far in the European Champions League. The pressure that Ruben Amorin will suffer at Manchester United will be very high and I honestly think he shouldn't have risked going to Manchester United. With his going to Manchester United the chances of destroying his good image are very high.
No doubts about that. There'd be so much expectations on Ruben Amorim from the fans to be able to wave his magic wand a d turn Man UTD into the club every team will fear that I feel will be too much on him that would make him not deliver his best. Anyways, Van Nistelrooy has been able to bring some spark back to the club so maybe Ruben wouldn't have much work to do and I wish that he would keep Nistelrooy as his assistant because the two of them working together and sharing ideas could restore the glory back for United. Man United are in the Europa and some other domestic competitions and so many fans will be hoping that Ruben Amorim will be able to help them win some trophies so the Portuguese really has a lot on his plate. Although the final result was indeed as expected with Sporting's victory. However, with Braga leading 2-0 at the end of the first half, the pressure on Sporting increased, especially when they were in top form and were favored to win. This situation certainly added to the tension, because Sporting had to work extra hard to turn things around. This moment also reminds us that in football, team performance can change quickly, and even the favored team is not always safe from pressure throughout the match.

Well I just watched the first half that ended 2-0 for Braga and I did not expect for Sporting Lisbon to come back so strongly with only 45 minutes to play. What surprised me more is that Braga conceded 3 goals in the last ten minutes of the game and that says a lot about them having already thought to have won the game, in such encounters it is the team with the strongest desire and experience that wins in the end and that is exactly what happened yesterday night.

I considered this game to be an easy win, because although Braga had some good opportunities in the first half, the 2 goals that Sporting conceded were mistakes by the defenders and it seemed that the Sporting players were lacking focus, probably because it was the coach's last game. But apart from these mistakes, Sporting recovered very well in the second half and had many chances, which made it seem like they were playing alone on the field. Sporting could have scored many more than 4 goals, they were just unlucky. Regarding Benfica's game. From the first minutes I watched the game, I had no doubt that Benfica would come out of this game with a victory. Porto is very unstable. It's strange that in recent years Porto and Benfica have been a disappointment in European competitions, while Sporting has managed to beat strong opponents in European competitions. But with the departure of Sporting's coach, I see a good chance for Benfica to become champion. Braga 2 - 4 Sporting

I think I started paying much attention to Sporting the moment Man UTD picked interest in their coach, Ruben Amorim and to be honest, the man has set a standard for the club that they can't afford defeats.. I was following the game and saw the scoreline at 2-0 and was like, maybe this is how far Ruben can take them, but I guess I spoke too soon since the whole thing just happened so fast that Braga couldn't have any time to prepare themselves. Sporting is doing so well in the Liga Portugal this season so it goes to be interesting how they fare when Ruben Amorim goes off to Man Utd. I couldn't see today game but I had a bet on Sporting when they were down 1-0 to braga in the early means and thought it was over when the score was at 2-0. I was super shocked to see Sporting had done a 2-4 comeback. Definitely a force to be reckoned with but I'll take a pause on placing them on any bets until I see how well they do under a new coach.
Great game today.

Big evening today in Portugal before going to international break. First we start with Braga - Sporting. Last match for Amorim before going to Manchester. Nice coincidence that last game will be against Braga - team that he managed before Sporting. I went with Sporting win tonight, considering their recent form, difficult to wait for upset here. And also over 2.5 goals. And later Benfica - Porto. Bookmakers are backing Benfica, but 4.10 odds for Porto is a bit understimating them when they're doing a bit better than Benfica in league. I go with BTS here 1.75.
The game finished with Ruben Amorim winning his last game as a Sporting manager as well as maintaining the club's 100% start to the new season. It was a 2:4 scoreline defeat the home team Braga who was once managed by the newly appointed Manchester United manager and the gestures for fans of both after the final whistle towards the Portuguese manager suggests that he's very much loved by fans of both clubs and will be missed when he leaves the Portuguese league. An emotional night for Ruben Amorim who'll now go to a foreign league for the first time in his managerial career to test his experience and abilities as a professional manager.
