Let's go to the 8th round, with an interesting game Porto vs Braga. Porto is in a period of team reconstruction, but is performing well. Braga's performance is much lower than in previous seasons. Who will win?
I will choose FC Porto. Since 2022/2023 matches between these two clubs, FC Porto still always manage to win SC Braga. It is FC Porto's home and Braga is not that better than before. But another thing is that SC Braga has not been defeated in away match this season. FC Porto may be in the period of team reconstruction but the club has been able to play most of its match without its opponents scoring at all since the beginning of this season. Their defence is good but SC Braga energy is better in away matches. But I am still not convinced that Braga would win the match.
There is always a first time for something to occur so braga not losing in away game this season won't be a fact to look out because most definitely whether they like it or not a loss will definitely come and I believe FC Porto is capable of winning them and besides their performance has been down and they even lost their Europa league clash yesterday by a convincing margin.
Yes, Porto did lose in their first Europa League match, but their performance spoke volumes. A 3-3 draw against Manchester United proved that they have what it takes to turn things around in critical moments.
Right now, the Sporting CP vs Casa Pia game is in progress, with the manner in which Sporting took the reins right from the beginning, it is highly likely that they will win this match. Should that happen, the gap in points between them and Porto will widen, and of course, the competition at the top of the standings will be even fiercer for Porto. The latter will have to keep their upward trajectory if they are to catch up with the former.
I don't see any reasons why Braga can win this game, so, I will go with Porto too. Yeah, Braga is playing better away than at home, but they haven't faced big clubs yet. But looks at Europa league, away against Olympiacos they had no chance and lost 3:0.
Braga does best when playing away, but when they have got to face big clubs, well their performance tends to be quite awful. Porto, on the other hand, has proven to be capable of competing at higher levels, just as when they held Manchester United to a draw. So Porto is a more rational choice—especially with momentum and quality.
