Manchester City has taken an interest in signing Toni Kroos:
Manchester City appear to be looking for a veteran presence to replace Ilkay Gundogan in midfield. Spanish outlet Defensa Central reports that Real Madrid is targeting Toni Kroos as a free agent in 2024.
His contract at Madrid expires next June, and his age means he could negotiate with clubs outside Spain when the January window opens; if City join, they can offer a pre-contract deal to see him move to Manchester once his current contract expires.Kroos fended off interest from clubs in the United States and Saudi Arabia in the summer before signing a new one-year deal with Real Madrid, but that decision is likely to be tested by Manchester City afterwards. The same report in Spain suggests City is willing to offer Real Madrid a two-year contract for twice the current salary of £6.8 million.
What do you think, guys? Is that really happening, or is it just a rumor? Give us your thoughts
I still can't understand Pep no matter how he makes things to be plain, like what is Pep Guardiola cooking this time around? Where other managers sees players who are above 30 as a problem Pep just have to go and make something great out of them, I so much love the way he goes about business.
Some would ask, what does Toni Kroos have to offer at his age. I believe Pep Guardiola can't get his eyes off Gundogan's style of play that's why he's going for the Madrid man, well I feel that's another addition to the Citizens and they can do anything to get his signature.
I just read a glimpse of the Mundo Deportivo report, Manchester City are interested in recruiting Kroos next summer. However, I am not sure about the validity of this rumor. But let's just assume this rumor is what it is, I can understand what Pep wants from this Real Madrid midfielder. If we refer to Toni Kroos' contract this season, this is his last contract with Los Blancos, he will be a free agent next summer. considering that Kroos is an established player, reliable and qualified with experience. His actual role can still be relied on, even though he is 33 years old. After all, Kroos was under the tutelage of Pep Guariola when he was still managing Bayern Munich.
If Pep brings him to the Etihad Stadium, at least he can still be relied on for the next two seasons. even though his stamina is no longer what it was at a young age, the experience requirement is what Pep needs. The point is, Pep wants to implement his mainstay system with 3-2-4-1. With Kroos, the void that was left by several players in the last transfer window can be filled again. which means, even though Kroos was brought in at quite an old age. However, Pep can still rely on his contribution with the system he implements. and I think, it will work. It could be that City will be like last season when Gundohan was still there. even personally, Kroos is more ideal. Pep can make this German player the main starter in Manchester City's crucial matches. Well, actually if Pep Guariola really wants this midfielder from Madrid. they could bring him in next January. after all, money is no problem for City. However, it is very likely that Madrid will not release him until his contract ends. plus, we can't be sure if these rumors are true. Nevertheless, Pep would ideally look for a player who is a little easier than Kroos. However, with experience and established conditions.
