They only just managed a Champions League place last season.. but this season with Lukaku, I think they should be able to open a clear gap on the teams below them and make qualifying for the Champions League a formality once again. The teams below them aren't really strengthening, and if Spurs lose Kane then that's another challenger gone. It's difficult to see beyond the two Manchester teams, Liverpool and Chelsea for the top four. I can't see where other challengers would come from.

Agreed with this, yes. Top 4 looks already defined, there really isn't a team that can break it this season. Arsenal is in total disarray, Leicester came really close 2 seasons in a row and royally screwed it up so I don't think they have it in them to make another decent challenge - especially with Vardy getting older and slower.

Tottenham would probably be able to break it if they keep Kane and sign Lautaro. However, Kane looks really unhappy and will probably get his transfer and Lautaro was supposed to be joining but that deal went a bit cold as well.

This is all really good news for Liverpool who looks ready to drop out. Luckily, there isn't really a team that will be able to fill the gap this season.

Can't wait to see Lukaku playing again in EPL!
Lukaku could leave for London in the next few hours to carry out medical examinations with the Blues and sign the contract. As soon as the transfer's made official, the Belgian striker will be available to Thomas Tuchel, coach of the European champions: Lukaku, who has trained regularly with Inter in recent days, could make his debut next Wednesday (August 11), on the occasion of the European Super Cup that Chelsea will play against Villarreal in Belfast.

I can't wait to see Lukaku play against Villarreal in the Super Cup. He is indeed a talented player, and he will definitely make the squad stronger. Chelsea finally signed him for £97.5m. He is finally back after seven years he left the blues.

We'll see tough competition in the EPL because each club has prepared the best squad ahead of the start of the competition, in the coming days we can see and compare which teams are most ready for the title and still waiting for surprises in the transfer window.

Yep, it is going to be a hell of a season and fun to watch. I wish Messi would have signed for an English club because there are so many strong teams and he would have drawn all eyes on the Premier League. It is not the same if he goes to Ligue 1. In the PL every game would be a highlight with him on the pitch. Grealish is a good player sure, but Messi together with De Bruyne, that would have been outstanding! Wink

A whole lot has under rated that League, I think this is where best for him to play.
Calling then Farmers League, winning the Champions League won't be that easy, we'll be patient enough to see how things go through.

Lukaku is a player that doesn't need adaptation to be successful in premier league because he has the experience already. He is physically fit and combative to play against premier league brutal defenders. He has pace and speed,so Chelsea acquiring his services will actually make Chelsea a complete team in Europe.

Leicester's victory in the FA Super Cup proves once again that the stars do not decide anything. The most important thing is the team. 11 people play football. I am happy for Leicester. I am glad that there are such teams that prove that nothing is lost in football and not everything. money decides.

Did you see the line-up? City practically had a B-team out. No Foden, no Sterling, No Jesus, No DeBruyne. No Stones, Walker or Ederson either. This was basically a glorified friendly. Pep never seems to take these trophies seriously. All he cares about is the PL and CL.

This is not the first time Lukaku is playing in the Premier League. He was in Manchester United before he was transferred to inter in 2019. However, he don't need adaptation, because he previously played for Chelsea. He is a good and talented player which Chelsea will definitely benefit from. The EPL this season will be very competitive,  but with Lukaku, Chelsea will probably win a title this season.

the premier league was almost always the most competitive league in the top leagues, it is really hard to predict who's going to win the next title, too bad we didn't see a lot of big names joining the premier league but still the most exciting one, can't wait.

Being Pep Guardiola, losing Messi by paying 117 million for Grealish and two days later you lose the Community Shield. Not the best way to start the season for Bep and Manchester City if you ask me.However it is a good thing that some other team was able to beat Manchester City which gives us hope that this year Premier League will be much better than the last one.
It just happened quite unexpectedly quickly and Manchester City simply wasn't ready for such a development of the situation, having already started other contract epics with Grealish and Kane. Although, of course, some time ago, both Guardiola and the management had in mind the possibility of signing a contract with Messi, but then they switched to more realistic goals in their opinion. I don't think Guardiola is very sad about the loss, because the battle is just beginning, although of course any title lifts the mood of the coach and the mood of the team. Guardiola is famous for the ability to decompose the team's game by distance, so this case is not indicative.

Despite the fact that community shields are nothing to get too excited about these days, I was impressed with Leicester City throughout the duration of the match. Man City did have very good chances which they threw away just because mahrez and Gündoğan kept shooting wide. Also, Schmeichel proved one more time why he should be considered as one of the top flight goalkeepers in English football top flight. It was just a sneak peek of what's coming in the PL this season and I'm excited already!

Seriously though its Leicester City and they were the winner of Premier League even when the odds are against them. Apart from that, dont expect both of the teams to take the match seriously though. It was nothing more than a pre season warm-up match for both of these teams because none of them want their player to be injured before the league officially starts

But Manchester City was also hammered last season by some other teams... remember?

I think losing to some teams is inevitable, even for Manchester City especially now that every opponent they will meet will have it in mind that they are the current Champions. I suppose the difference will come in the squad depth towards the end of the season. It's the same tool City used last time round to over power opponents and win the trophy.

I honestly think that City just didn't care enough, sometimes that does happen to teams, a team who has been great ends up suddenly not being so great because they won so much that they stop caring about winning. Sort of like what happened with Liverpool last year, they gathered back but for a while they didn't care because they won the league, they won champions league and they felt like they didn't had to prove anything more.

I guess it is a bit of a primal thing in people. City will obviously be awesome for whole season and they will regroup from this and play a lot better in the next games. Community Shield is not really a greatly important cup neither

I am sure they will win what really matters.

the dark horse team is still pinned to this team because since their impressive appearance in 2016 Leicester City's performance has continued to surprise and it's true no matter how expensive the players in one club are and no matter how good the club's rate is in the eyes of the commercial it's still on the pitch the most important thing is the cohesiveness of a team of 11 people, and leicester is one real proof that can destroy the dominance of strong teams in England and unmitigated the BBC even mentions, that Leicester City has become an elite team in the English League. Leicester was able to break the dominance of the Big Six and in recent seasons has continued to penetrate the top flight position.

Messi is a player that all clubs in the world would want. In Manchester City, I think he can ask for this and take an attack. However, I read that the club president of a team from Saudi Arabia offered 1 billion euros for a 3-year contract for Messi. I get excited even thinking about the possibility of playing in England. I hope we can watch him play for Manchester City instead of Paris SG.  Grin
Manchester City will not create their internal conflict by signing with Messi. They recently signed with Grealish and Pep admitted that they don't have interest in Messi.

I read some news that PSG hires Effiel tower to prepare for the welcome celebration for Messi like what they did with Neymar.

I can't wait to see Lukaku play against Villarreal in the Super Cup. He is indeed a talented player, and he will definitely make the squad stronger. Chelsea finally signed him for £97.5m. He is finally back after seven years he left the blues.
He is a target man and with Lukaku, Timo Werner will be given more open space to use his speed and his connections to team mates. Lukaku will be given good assist from his midfielders.

Lukaku will have more challenge from defenders in Premier League. In Serie A, he can use his strength to win against defenders in Italy but in Premier League, defenders are very strong.

Agree that Leicester win does not mean anything. City wants the best start possible and they just used the game as a test. I did not recognize many players,,, while Leicester played a full squad.

Hope my new Spurs team can win the first match, I like we have the chance to prove it on Day 1 of EPL in less than a week!

Friendly match is not an important match. Winning or losing this match does not matter. Still, I would say Leichester played well. Manchester City did not attack too much. They considered it a practice match. But hopefully they will do well against Tottenham and will definitely get 3 points in the first match.

Other EPL are equally to the task ahead as far as EPL title is concerned this season its going to battle for fight, infact the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Leceister City and Tottenham will give Man City a big challenge and give them a run for their money, ~snip~
They have a good coach and players, their philosophy is a bit different but when they met in the UCL final last season it was really interesting. This season will probably be more interesting, they have some new players, of course this will make the competition even more interesting. What I'm worried about is Manchester United. Are they still able to compete with OLE with City or Chelsea? Even though their players are good, the coach factor is the most important thing.
