Tonights game is postponed for some reason?

Still Im thinking consider it a win for newcaste, they are tougher.

I will assume it and so that their table places are reversed for now in my mind table.

It’s because Newcastle have had a corona virus outbreak. A number of the players & staff have contracted the virus so I guess it’s postponed as a precaution to stop further possible spread.
yeah I see too at this The match is right on postponement https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/aston-villa-trip-postponed-due-to-covid-19-outbreak/

Yes, Newcastle itself asked to reschedule the match because the stadium where they were training was temporarily closed and then the request was granted by the EPL
The closure was indeed due to the increase in corona cases in the area so it is very risky if they continue any activities.

Oh so I expect they will push it off further into the future then.

Is this the first time a match had to be cancelled? or is it a growing trend?

I had been reading Europe were doing well towards quelling the virus for now.

All players ıt was stated that the technical team and the club players were quarantined and training will not be done until the results of the tests to be made are announced. I would like to point out that this situation is sad, in the possibility that a few of the players are viruses, even if this match is played next week, we may see a different squad.

The three strongest clubs this season are Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham but still Liverpool in terms of the game are still strong to be difficult to beat, maybe this season the rivals are tighter because some clubs have improved like Spurs who are currently not easy to beat that means a good change in This season is a good thing so Liverpool will be difficult.

The points are not too far now but in the next few matches it will be more interesting because you are looking for points.
Chelsea very often have recessions in the middle or at the end of the season, you need to watch how it will be in this season. The problem of Tottenham is perhaps the coach, if he again starts having conflicts within the team, as is often the case, then the players can play bad, I hope this does not happen this time. Therefore, I think that Liverpool is the most stable in this regard. Manchester City and Manchester United do not want to fight for the championship again this season...

I think Liverpool will again be Champion this year but for Manchester City I am not convinced and that win 5-0 against Burnley means nothing to me seeing at what level Burnley is playing.I think the second spot will be for Chelsea more likely this year as for Tottenham I need to see some more games before I consider them in the fight for second.

actually, I would count out City from the race, they have a tough start, but it is just a first quarter of the season

nevertheless, already point this out, but to put it again, Tottenham has best chances for me, and would be a good return for Mo, Chelsea is a tough opponent, and Liverpool is here to get another title, after last season show, that is the best from them that I ever saw Smiley and a title after 30 years, another one this season could be too much?

there is no much interesting matches this round, but Wolves could make troubles to Liverpool and Tottenham have tough task to win in classic London derby

Grin Angry I guess everyone suggesting Liverpool will win the league again are quiet now.  The season is no more young as more than 6 matches has been played and we can see how much each team is progressing.  I knew right from the start that it's gonna be Chelsea or  spurs. Yes spurs. Don't underestimate them. They have the special one as manager.

The Special One hasn’t been very special for a few years now if we’re honest. Chelsea look OK but imo, Man City & Liverpool are the best two teams & they will be 1st & 2nd by the end of the season. Everton were top after 4 games & now look at them. The season is a long race!

Indeed it is a long race but the 2nd spot is not 100% for City this season although I predict they will be n1... I think they will manage to pick one of the first fourth spots, that's all for them this season. The other 2 spots in top 4 will be picked by Leicester or Chelsea or maybe spurs?/ManU?
I am also feeling in same way we have nothing 100% but one thing is sure right now we have four best teams like Liverpool, Manchester City. Chelsea and Tottenham these can fight hard for top spots as Manchester United and Leciester both are outsiders but these are top ranked six teams for this season as Everton already choking badly and Arsenal is also very unpredictable.
Tottenham begin with this season very well and become on the first fixture right now have the same points with Chelsea, and Tottenham have faced with many big club in this half season Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and left with Liverpool only become most very difficult opponent and left with looks easy team for beating by Tottenham Hotspur, so I think Tottenham have big chance to close half season on the first position without any trouble with other league because Tottenham only playing on Europe League not the same with other big four team have focus for Champion league.

We will see both tottenham and chelsea toughness in the next 6 to 7 matches.
They had a nightmare with fixtures like below :

Started next week for tottenham
Vs arsenal
Vs crystal palace
Vs liverpool
Vs leicester city
Vs wolves
Vs fulham
Vs leeds

Assuming mourinho could acquired 12 points out of these 7 matches with 3 win , 3 draw and 1 lost, he is capable doing th

Started next week for chelsea
Vs leeds
Vs everton
Vs wolves
Vs west ham
Vs arsenal
Vs aston villa
Vs manchester city

Damn they must get around 6 points to 8 points out of those 7 matches.
With 5 draw 1 lost and 1 win i guess that is the best result they can achieve.

Does anyone know what will happen to the EPL teams that qualify for UEL and UCL next season after England officially left the EU? If I'm not mistaken, Britain will officially leave the EU at the end of December 2020 or early 2021. Will they be excluded from the list of participants in the European league?

And here a realease from FA about possibility of transfer proccess The FA, the Premier League and EFL have come together to agree a plan for entry requirements for overseas players post Brexit.

Regarding participation, nothing will change. A lot of clubs from non-EU countries participate in it, for example teams from Switzerland, Norway, Ukraine and Russia.
CL/EL is not a competition only for EU countries, it is for all countries that are geographically in Europe - even for some that are mostly in Asia like Turkey.
Lol there are teams from Russia, that is as Asian as you can get when you look at the continents, even though Russia seems "Europe" in many football related stuff, if you look at it geographically we would have to remove sooo many teams out of champions league, and this is just about where the nation is located and not even about being in the European union as a whole.

So when you put that on top of the location, we are talking about at least 7 nations that I can remember who are out of EU but definitely plays in European competitions. However I do believe it could have an impact financially, like maybe money made from Europe going back into England type of stuff, or tax stuff, basically stuff fans should not have to care about but accountants of teams will have to work overtime.

I think buying new players could be seen as differently depending on the type of player you buy. If you buy someone who is 80+ millions euro and could be starter without a doubt and can change your team insanely a lot, that would definitely be something to see as a move to become champions, especially if a team like Liverpool or City does this, that would definitely mean that they are doing that move to get a championship chance a bit higher (which is already high enough for them).

However if a team buys a player for under 10 million euro, or many free transfers, they are usually (usually is in emphasis here) do not do it for championship chance, it is probably about increasing the depth, football is a game where injury and booking happen very frequently and that is why having extra players is a great idea.
Let me enlighten you on football transfer and fees because a player cost $90m does not mean he is a bigger talent than the ones who cost lesser e.g Maguire cost £80m while Liverpool bought Vigil £70m we all know who the bigger talent is, kepa the costliest keeper was bought £71m while Alisson cost liverpool £67m, Courtios £35, Ederson £34m Degea £18m, Neuer £19m, Luno £19 we all know who the best is. players values are based on some selected factors such as; Age, Nationality(English are expensive), contract(released clause), etc. Not just talent alone.

We saw bigger players who went on free transfer; Sanchez, silva, Luiz, Willian, Buffon, Cavani, Facao and many more...

Thank you for the explanation, I just think this will affect the participation of the EPL teams at UCL/UEL, if brexit makes them unable to participate in the two European competitions then the EPL teams only compete in domestic, which is UCL/UEL will lose 3 teams which makes the league even more interesting. Luckily what I thought was wrong.

UEFA champions league is older than European Union itself. And as cryptofrka stated, UEFA is not just EU countries or to some extent not only Europe. There are no tie up of UEFA with EU or any political groups.
UEFA has it's own rules and principles, it aims to be a competition between European clubs (and Euro for nations) but it has also included geographically Asian countries and excluded some European.
