Premier League season is starting on Saturday  Smiley

How do you guys position your bets for the first matchday? I set my bets as follows and I would like to here your opinion.

Fulham vs Arsenal # win of Arsenal @ 1.58
Liverpool vs Leeds # over 3.5 goals @ 2.33
Tottenham vs Everton # double chance Everton @2.11
Brighton vs Chelsea # win Chelsea @ 1.69

I wouldn't go for 3.5 on the Liverpool game. Maybe 2.5 as I think the score might be 3-0, at least that's what I'm going for. It's certainly the game I'm most looking forward to. Maybe Leeds could take advantage of no crowds at Anfield and also being the underdogs to get a shock point or two. I think Liverpool will still be too strong for them but it's a good tester as they're playing against the PL Champions and one of the best clubs in the world so if they can do well against them who knows what could happen this year.

That's right, Chelsea are building a better team than last season...
If last season, Chelsea only finished in 4th position, this season Chelsea must be able to enter the top 3. I read in the sports news, the amount that Chelsea spend to buy some players this season is 200 million pounds.

Yeah they are bit around around 200 million. If Ziyech transfer would have been in this window then would have put more than that. Chelsea have done a great job buying players this season and bolstering their squad. It will be interesting to see how much time it would take to fit all those players into their roles accordingly. Would take some time but they have good amount of time since it's fresh start.

Here is how Chelsea squad look:

Edit: Now I wonder I guess they forgot Mason Mount up there  Tongue

Ziyech, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell are out for the opener. They still shouldn't have any issues beating Brighton.

I still don’t like Chelsea’s GK options & defence, Thiago Silva is really old.

I think they are decent in defense with recent addition of Malang Sarr and Ben Chilwell. While in goalkeeper options Willy Caballero is good, Kepa is a waste he has lot to learn and Lampard doesn't have him in first options as well. Talking about goalkeeper options they are talking with French side Rennes about their goalkeeper Mendy: https://www.goal.com/en/news/rennes-confirm-talks-with-chelsea-over-move-for-goalkeeper/7qc1k7lvd4zm120z906kj4bo9 . So yeah Blues are still going on looking in transfer window after sealing Kai Havertz.

Chelsea really did a great job in this transfer window and now they have very impressive squad depth. If most of the new guys adapt quickly they could be a legit threat to City an LFC. If anyithing they will have problems with players who aren't happy sitting on the bench. It seems really crowded in the centre for the blues, but maybe Havertz or Mount will play in a more attacking role and free some space.

Can't wait for the games to start  Grin

Too many new players at one time for Chelsea I think. They’ve bought well but I still think Man City & Liverpool are much stronger. I still don’t like Chelsea’s GK options & defence, Thiago Silva is really old. I’m not sure how he will do in the PL, it is a lot stronger than Ligue 1.

For sure, just from the talent alone Chelsea should be a favorite,,, I think people only rate them lower because Lampard has not really proven himself at the team other than getting them back into the driving seat.

I think he will now find also he will have to be tested to his limits to manage all the expectations and egos of these talents. Superstars tend to be very high maintenance right?Wink

Tomorrow the Premier League is about to start, and I can't wait to see some of the new players that each club has just bought.
For Chelsea fans, you have to be patient to wait for about 4 more days, because Brighton vs Chelsea will play 15 September.
Although I am not a Chelsea fan, but Chelsea's purchases many player, make me are curious to see if it will make Chelsea's
game even better or not.

OP's polling currently believes if Man City will become the champion for 2020/21, They have several good players that make sense if City will be better next season.

Their brother, Man United still on the building phase, Guardian reported if MU rumored to bring Antoine Griezmann, this player maybe not included in Koeman team, so this transfer is very possible to happen.
I am sure this will turn around again for Manchester city and it is likely that this season will be a better match, Pep Guardiola already knows which players should be brought in to defend his squad.

Ronald Koeman seemed to be a little bit more aggressive I know Antoine Griezmann was a great player at Barcelona when Koeman came so he was not in the squad which is a shame.

Mount is there, he's first 11.  What I'm wondering tho is how come Mason Mount is first pick over Kovacic.  Does Lampard have an 'England first' policy?  Grin

The guy who made the pic prolly thinks so.  Lol.

Exactly Cheesy Mount does not come before Kovacic for sure, but everything is possible after all. Kova can start the season badly and suddenly he is out of first 11 in a blink. There are no guarantees in football. Objectively though, he is much better then Mount is or will ever be.

Plus I'm 100% sure Thiago Silva will be in first 11 most of the time.

I find Mount good as well but not as good as Kovacic. Mount is a good young talent and can be a first team option soon but I don't think he will completely kick Kovacic out of the first team choice.

Regarding Thiago Silva, he is old so I think Lampard is gonna rotate the choices a lot in that position. Kurt Zouma isn't bad either. Have to see yet though how well Lampard handles his squad.

Liverpool to become Champions odds have dropped to 3.1 according to Sportsbet while Manchester City odds went a little bit more. Seems like more and more people do not think the Champions can defend the title,,, while Chelsea as shown above now have a squad depth that is almost as scary as City!

Chelsea are building a really good team. I think with so many new faces though it’s going to be difficult to gel & become a real cohesive unit straight away. It’s going to take them a while to peak, plus I’m not sure how good Lampard is as a manager. He has spent a massive amount so he will be expected to deliver results straight away. I think they will finish 3rd.

It believe its going to take some time before the team cohesiveness begins to give result, the entire squad is fused with some new sets of good players in almost the positions and department the Manager Lampard has a lot of work to do tin putting things on the track before the team can yield good result, EPL will be very competitive in this new season, 'to whom much is given much is expected' with this huge spending the club wouldn't expect any grade less than top three and perhaps wining FA or League Cup.

this season we will see if chelsea will be able to compete against Manchester city and Liverpool ... I hope that this season liverpool will not have the same good performance that it had last season, because according to what I follow the other teams have worked hard to bring new players. Chelsea for example brought Kai Havertz and I think they will be able to compete with Liverpool and Manchester city. My criticism goes to Manchester united which in my opinion should have hired other players who score goals, I doubt that Manchester United will be next season's champion, just as I very much doubt that Arsenal can compete with Liverpool, Manchester city and chelsea

I am also feeling about Chelsea they are not going to win just in top 3 is also good for them even they spend some good amount but still its need some good time to have winning unit like Liverpool because now in this season we are going to have another Manchester City vs Liverpool for title race these both have enough resources to lead table again in this season.

Its pretty hard to pick a winner since lot of teams have changed and would wait this round and see how teams perform this round and get into betting action from next. Most of teams have changed and would see how they settle in with new changes in squad. Maybe I would bet few in goals market in some matches but I wouldn't go for ML this round.
