Now that Mourinho has been appointed manager of Tottenham will they really be contesting for a top 5 finish?

Not this season, no. It’ll take him a couple of transfer windows to build a team in his way. I think Eriksen, Alderweireld & Vertonghen are in the final year of their contracts so they’ll go in the summer. Jose will need time to build his squad.

It can be very interesting. Tottenham and Levy are very stingy, I can't see Mourinho in his way. I will not surprised if Mou makes a serious result in CL, FA ... there is still some of the very good players which they do not forget to play football. Mou is a specialist for "one game" competitions now without pressure can do it something good. Also, it is his last chance to do something more and get back to the first league of managers.

Tottenham's summer transfers should be fun to follow next year.  Grin  And I hope he gets Rui Faria back in his coaching staff.

It is surprising that Mourinho chose to coach Tottenham. Pochettino and Mourinho cannot be compared because their experienced is different, Mourinho more longer as a coach, but I'm sure with new club Pochettino will get more success.
There are several clubs that might be interested in him, but do not know which club he will choose.

They have different experience but Pochettino is more on the modern football.
Mourinho might have chosen the Spurs as he couldn't be able to find any other team to manage - especially the big ones.

If they boost their squad as I expect they would, yes. The season is far from over, and there  are a couple of teams in the  current top six who can have  a change of form at anytime in the season. Mourinho would offer a lot in terms of transfer management and he is known to introduce his type of players into his team.
He is the special one and would not want to get sacked again, so I'm sure he'll have secured a couple of deals behind closed doors before signing the deal.
Do you think Mou would last longer than three years at Tottenham?
If Mourinho is coming then surely its going to be very interesting because his track recored here in Premier League is not bad at all and Spurs are also going in top four for some last seasons now he will try to bring some new players and management allow the hopefully this is going good otherwise Mourinho is not going to stay here for long time likePochettino because he cannot do work like outgoing manager.

lets not forget they have been in the top 4 for the last four years.

... that was with Pochettino at the helm.

Now a new era has started and I am not sure Mourinho is the man for the job. Tottenham are a big club waiting to be called a giant club, they are a giant club in the making ever since they moved in to their new stadium with a 62,000 crowd capacity. The money being generated by Tottenham now is immense. If Mourinho can be part of that success then he will continue to add positive things to his CV but I hope he gets enough time to turn things around rather be judged just at Christmas or end of the season.

One of the things that got Mourinho upset and fall out with Woodward was the fact he was not allowed to buy and sell players he wanted, especially during his final season. Levy is notoriously cautious with the club purse-strings and I cannot see him spending the way Mourinho wants.

Mourinho wanted to go to a Premier League club but either he should have waited for Zidane to leave Real Madrid or he should have tried for the Bundesliga (Bayern Munich) to add another country and club to his list.

Now that Mourinho has been appointed manager of Tottenham will they really be contesting for a top 5 finish?

Mourinho silverwear record is very impressive, he has won atleast one trophy with every club he has managed and that's sometime Tottenham desperately need. Finishing top 5 is very possible since he (Mourinho) has all the experience a manager can ask off. His competition right now are Arsenal and Manchester United, Tottenham with or without Mourinho can finish top 5 above this guys without much stress, lets not forget they have been in the top 4 for the last four years. And Mourinho is a far better manager than Pochettino, he'll definitely bring out the best out of the team in regards to winning tournaments. Watch out for kane

I believe the question now should be, can Mourinho win Tottenham some silverware in the shortest time possible, my answer to that would be yes, Europa or Carabao Cup probably. Also lets keep a close eye on his first match in charge (against west ham) to see how the squad respond.

Pochettino is a great coach to my eyes he is better that Mourinho.
The Spurs needed a change and the hope that Mourinho is going to bring it. They cannot go even worse. Mourinho is going to bring some positive results to Tottenham and he is going to take the credits for that as well - stating that he is the special one.

Currently as it stands...

I see Manchester City winning that match but that would not dent Chelsea while they are part of the chasing pack. You are right Chelsea have played amazing football, I am surprised how easily Lampard has fitted in to the management role and how the players have bought in to the ethos. Well done to him for putting his faith in youth and taking risks even after the disastrous 0-4 loss at Manchester United on the opening day of the season.

I think Leicester will start slowing down and will not be part of the top three at the end of the season  but they will be 4th or 5th and it means Arsenal, Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur will try to end up in that 4th or 5th place.

Chelsea will be third and Liverpool and Manchester City will battle it out for the top spot but that could all change by the end of the year.
did you know that lampard is one of the most intelligent footballer ? 10 years ago he scored over 150 in an IQ test with MENSA -a non-profit- high IQ society organization- putting him in the most intelligent 0.1 per cent of the population. so that is your answer  Wink lampard did a great job even at his first managerial career at derby county nearly deliver them to promote to EPL , guess what happened after lampard leaving derby county? they are struggling at 16th now.

i believe in leicester city team work spirit , their main strength that putting them on top 2 is the team work, they have done and prove it i guess when they managed to surprised everyone around the globe by winning the most prestigious league , they are on that track now .

that is very reasonable to put chelsea on third by the end of the season , i just expecting something unexpected like liverpool dropped to third and leicester & chelsea battle it out, what about that?

There is something seriously wrong in Spurs dressing room. There was some rumours but only players know the real truth. I seriously doubt that the problem was manager but you can't sack half of your players while you can change the manager.

Anyway, I am not worried about Pochettino, he made a name for himself and he will be able to chose his next destination. In his place I wouldn't go to Arsenal for sure. They have a squad of limited talents and losing mentality. More importantly, supporters would never forgive him.

I thought Emery will be  sacked before Pochettino. Seems like time went up early for Poch (too bad  Undecided). Mourinho seems like a likely next coach but it will be hell lot of work for him to make team straight on track again.

Here's an appointment I'll love to see, Mourinho gets appointed as Spurs manager. Emery gets sacked by Arsenal and Pochettino gets appointed as Arsenal manager. Then probably Emery moves to West Ham. Saw this somewhere on twitter and i love it.

Poch to Arsenal....not a bad one. I also love it  Cheesy
That would not be possible, Arsenal is the rival of Tottenham in one city. I even felt that Poch was going to Bayern Munich. Or maybe Manchester United? lol
Pochettino is a good coach with players who have not changed much from Tottenham because Poch is rarely given the opportunity to buy players, with his new club, hopefully, he will be given the power to buy the players he wants

For a while. Pochetino was obviously building something with the Tottenham team, it didn't get to mature but he surely elevated the level of the team during his stay. The lack of any sort of silverware in his over five years in charge must have contributed to his sack.

So Spurs now have the balls to suck a man that brought back a little of glory to them like taking part in Champions League football without spending much on players?
Leicester sacked Claudio Raneirri after he gave them a league title and a taste of champions league football. Football is a progressive sport and every team has to be constantly evolving.

Although poch kept Tottenham in the top four in the last four years, most of it they weren't playing like contender and this season is even worst as they have been very poor so it's coming as no surprise
Spurs may have been too bad this season, but I do not support a sack, if you look at how he has improved Tottenham and brought them to the elite stage, surely he deserves more time to fix the current terrible form in the team. Spurs may have never looked like title contenders in the last four seasons and just looked like they were ready to settle for top four, but if you look at their budget in buying players, do you really think they deserve more, Liverpool and Manchester City, the two main title contenders in those years have recruited better players, and have larger budget. Pochettino was doing all he was doing without forcing the team to spend big.

There'll be a major decision soon, it would be so interesting to see Mourinho back in the dug out mid way into the season, and in the Epl, would make it much more interesting, pochettino would definitely get a job soon, he is a good manager.

Mourinho to Tottenham would result in a dynamic shift in their style of play and also the dressing room atmosphere. Pochetino complained a couple of times es about the players not following his instructions, while Jose has a way of instilling his philosophy into the team, but for a limited time. For now, it's just rumours, there are still other candidates for the job; Allegri is pretty good at managing a budget and would be a good fit at Spurs.

I do not know where Mourinho's decision will be anchored where it is clear if Tottenham has a coach like Mourinho there will definitely be dynamic changes, but sometimes also Mourinho is stubborn in managing his players but if the player under his instructions I am sure his squad will be strong.

That's football for you and why the premier is the most entertaining league of them all, few months back I remaining poch celebration Tottenham comeback against Ajax to reach the champions league finals like he has just won the championship league few months later he's sacked. BREAKING: Mauricio Pochettino sacked by Tottenham after five-and-a-half years in charge.
https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/11865128/mauricio-pochettino-sacked-by-tottenham
HOLY SHIT!!! I kinda expected it to happen very soon, but right after the international break is over? wtf?   Shocked

So Spurs now have the balls to suck a man that brought back a little of glory to them like taking part in Champions League football without spending much on players?
What they were they supposed to do? Keep remembering the good 'ol days while the team's fighting to get out of the relegation zone? IMO they did the right thing, the team has shown no signs of improvement in the league since last season, they're a complete disaster if you compare it with other seasons, Poch had to go.

Well, Poch was sacked before Solskjaer, Emery, Valverde, Marco Silva...Crazy!  Grin
