Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending
What makes you think Global Foundries owes anyone but their customers any information on what they are presently engaging in? I'm sure their inbox is inundated with spam from folks who have nothing better than to troll around forums and speculate about what influences the bitcoin mining scene.

If anything they will not comment to an unknown source as it may not be in their customers interest and a complete waste of their time. Put things into perspective and rationalize what is going on in a greater sense before trying to use something which is logical as evidenced to support your own conspiracy theories.

Great argument! But how do you explain Verisilicon replying when not once, not twice, but three times they were asked if Black Arrow was one of their customers with an affirmative? The exact same argument applies here.

What is being asked is in no way NDA related.

It's been over a week. What was the reply from Global Foundries when asked if Black Arrow has a contract with them in producing a 28nm chip from sand that'll hash zeros and ones into money?
No reply.

Because the database has been a gigantic pain in the ass. I have 2 programmers working on it, and if they dont have a solution by friday I will be making them do it by hand.
So will this be done manually? ETA?

If I bought a Black Arrow Prospero X-3, assuming the difficulty is 10Billion in May, how long could I remain profitable if it ran 24/7? (Energy Cost: .09USD/kWh)

Hi, I'm new to bitcoin mining. I am starting with a small budget and thinking about beginning with an X1 from minersource.net. I am wondering if BlackArrow and minersource (authorized reseller) are legitimate.

You're probably better off buying an AntMiner S1 and getting delivery right away. Minersource carries those and posted a pic a few days ago of pallets full of them. The X-1 delivery won't happen until May -- if you decide to go that route I wouldn't prepay at this point -- wait and make your decision then depending on difficulty, etc.

To your point, I think other than one prolific poster here, people tend to feel bobsag3 is legit. He's been in business quite a while and does hosting and sales. The guy disparaging him here hasn't turned up any disgruntled customers, just a steady stream of minutia.

That would be me.

Just did some calculations and if the difficulty rises to what it's expected to be at (19,637,607,557) in May 2014, the X1 won't be profitable at all. Will probably go with the AntMiner S1
Difficulty will definitely not be 19 billion in May. My estimate is around 10-11 billion.

How can you see what difficulty you're mining at in elugius?

Tell ya what, if any of minersource customers have an issue due to residential outlets and distance to the 2 separate units, We will throw in a 100ft Ethernet cable to help.

Thats nice to hear, and nice to see a proactive approach to this issue, I would like to be put on the list to receive one with my order.

Yes, same here.

Please shoot an email to [email protected] with your order numbers, and asking to get the cable. I will make sure they get added to your orders.

And yes, the X3 will for sure be coming as 2 separate units, that has been confirmed.
Done.

Is that pretty much confirmation that these 2 units will be completely separate units?  The last we had heard was that BA were not sure if the 2 boxes would be independent of one another, or if they would have to be daisy chained together.

Well I'll probably be using Eligius and there's no option for adjusting difficulty. The internet at the apartment is pretty shitty (free, included in rent) so I don't wanna run into any troubles there.

Thanks guys Smiley

Also does anyone know at what point internet speed can become a bottleneck? How much bandwidth is gonna be used at 2TH/s?

That's gonna be a problem since they need to be next to a router to work, right? I'm trying to think how I can have the two machines near a router, but plugged into different circuits...

Try this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007GFYHPG/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They can be configured as an adapter. Plug you Ethernet cable to it, and your standalone miner is now connected to your router, no need for cables.

If you have more than one miner at that location, use a cheap hub or switch. Connect this gizmo to one port on your hub, all your miners to other ports.

I use this to run my cubes and blades in a room that had no Ethernet ports, but was otherwise unused.

Cheers

Art
Thanks for the recommendation, but I think I'll just go with a long ethernet cable.

I didn't realize how cheap they had gotten since I last looked.
I'm gonna wait til it gets closer to the shipping date before I buy though. Need to figure out if I should go with the 25 or 50 feet option.

I have another update that I was informed of:

The minion has passed the DRC checks. Mask manufacturing has begun. (This was as of last night)

For us laymen, does that mean they are on, ahead, or behind schedule?

I'm glad to see some information coming out, just like the rest of us, and I can see how people might get aggravated if they think someone is spamming or trolling this thread when all they are looking for are clear answers to production questions.

However, BA didn't bother to give us information until people started getting pretty bitchy about it, and just kept telling us all was hunky dory, when it clearly was not.  There are still some things that they are simply not answering.

It is also interesting to me that nobody, or close to nobody, seems bothered by some of the shady dealings that some of the people seemingly associated with BA have seemingly had and are just willing to take them at their word again, or that nobody will seemingly step forward and say, "I am the owner(s) of Black Arrow", as if it is some sort of fucking State Secret.  That, to me, is the largest Red Flag in this entire thing.

If had a shred of doubt about them when making the decision to buy, and I looked through this forum as best I could before doing so, there's no way in hell I'd have given these people my money for exactly the reasons we are seeing now, in terms of putting their profit before their customers, which is what, IMO, they are doing.

Does that surprise me?  No.  Does that mean I think it is right or that I should just shut up about that distaste?  Again, no.

People may disagree, which is fine, of course, but I think it takes a complete absence of any sort of integrity at the highest levels of any company to implement a policy whereby they are seemingly walking with profit and continuing to pocket mined coins, if that is actually the case, while their customers take a substantial hit for their failure to deliver on time.  It's bullshit, and, yes, I know that other companies have done it.  I don't give a shit if that's the common practice, that does not in any way justify it from any angle.

People thinking about buying a miner should know this stuff, if it is indeed true, as these are large purchases, so, while I can see how some can be frustrated at times at what they see as noise in the thread, some of this information may be of use to people thinking about buying a miner and deciding who they can and cannot trust.

What's the best way to go about asking for a refund from BA? I tried using their website; I posted two questions on the communication tab associated with my order and haven't heard a peep since I asked about a refund a few months ago. Should I email them directly? Contact them through Facebook? PM them here?

Edit: I was digging through their website and I found that their ticketing system is not linked to the purchasing system. So on the Communication tab associated with my order, there isn't any indication that my question has been answered; but if I look in the support area there are responses to the tickets that were generated by my posting questions. That seems like something that should be fixed.  Cheesy  Sorry for giving any impression that BA is unresponsive, this is my own mistake.

Obviously, PM'ing won't work because he was here a couple hours ago, stopping by only long enough to delete my posts, then leave.

Scammy motherfucker if you ask me.

By the way, I'm not a customer of Black Arrow, but neither am I of Mt Gox, yet https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.5402576

According to InstaWallet, they didn't have any customers, ergo taking 1,132 BTC (documented) from me didn't happened, according to them.

Let me tell you how pissed off I am at the you mohterfuckin' bitcoiners that I'm trying to help on my dime/time, but you feel like I'm the asshole here. If I ever meet any of you fuckers in person that's been sticking it up my ass, I WILL put you to sleep. And that's a motherfuckin' promise.

Now, which every one of you cocksuckers is the one that alerts Alex Sovu, the scamming bastard, about me posting in his self-moderated thread, do your fucking dick sucking now.
