It may be under maintenance now, but it wasn't when I attempted the deposit 20 days ago.

Coincidentally, my ticket querying this has been open for 20 days without response....

Yeah, 20 days ago they probable use old 1.2/1.0 ver.
COINS-E admins/programmers so slooow, so probable missed right time to update (before block 417000).
When later noticed what something wrong - it was already known/proven and posted on both forum about new 1.3.0 not fix things as planned, so they decides NOT upgrades to 1.3.0 and move coin to "maintenance" / suspend deposits/withdrawal instead wanting for final official fix.

You not able deposit to COINS-E because they move ORB to "Coins under maintenance" sections.
Seems they finally hear all my warning(i post few tickets - first was in 1st half Jan) about all shits happens around ORB and official dev and suspend all withdrawals and deposits until one of current 3 forks wins or will be 100% clear which fork will be used as basis for 4th official fork. So no any versions at use - just waiting and watching situation...

That's MM's fork, right? You're mining on the unofficial chain.

Cryptsy is probably running the most recent official version (which itself is a fork from the original official chain...)

And I am guessing that coins-e is running the old old official version, because funds sent from cryptsy to coins-e never appear.

So there's currently 3 chains, and will be a 4th if there is ever another official release. (If TheRedMist reappears with his mystery dev)

tl;dr right now there seems to be no way to get newly mined coins to an exchange, and Mad_Max was only able to exchange up to block 475k.

I temporally stop running my ver and check few things with official ver:

1.
Yes, Cryptsy running last official ver with wrong patch - 1.3.0. I check it today.
This fork at this position now:
Code:
new best=ff1d5204f32fd7d0c5d37da4a181ec22ca9d329cd00520372f3cff85e187821c  height=429334  trust=38195370579  date=02/13/14 01:40:04
Seems main part of user also use this ver, only PoS mining but relative active.

3. Old (original) version (1.0, 1.1, 1.2) seem dying now. Smaller number of users online and much shorter chain:
Code:
new best=b8efd5bfabfed23981064204f7685984373aa095e34196771a02361cfd5f3b94  height=418604  trust=26830374805  date=02/12/14 15:04:46
Only PoS mining, low activity.

But this version in use by last working ORB block explorer and some other online services like coinchoose.com (one of the mining profitability calculators)

BTW seems i found exact point of additional fork between 2 official version (produced by incorrect patch in ver. 1.3.0)

Only 559 blocks and ~ 11 hours after "patch" activation.

At very first block with small negative time spacing in blocks timestams:

All as i predicted almost 2 week BEFORE patch activation (about 2 days after ver. 1.3.0 code publication, but long before activation of changes).  Cool

Thanks almightyruler, I think ill stop with the solo mine then for now and see what happens. Will be painful after days of mining to see the coins disappear.

Yes, it is a best action for now.
But do NOT delete wallet for now - may be RedMist in the end will  re-appears to exchange this coins.
It was official promise on open forum. So if he want continue to use coins (and his big premine, which still > 50% of all coins minted) he need to exchange it to avoid "Scammer" tag

Keep client running too (without mining) if possible to keep network alive and operation.

Also you can "vote" about add ORB to new exchange: http://www.allcrypt.com/beta/voting.php (up to 10 votes per day from 1 ip is free)
May be new exchange choose to add my ver as most active now and fully operational?  Roll Eyes

Its a funny one. Do I sell all my coins on cryptsy now expecting the coin to just die and be worthless, or hold onto the coins and hope the devs sort it all out.  Ahhh the joy of choice.... Time will tell.

Hedge your bets? Sell X%, keep Y%

Right now I'm not very confident of the official version being updated. There's a lot of talk from the official dev (or WAS until he stopped logging in at cryptotalk), but no action. The coin broke a month or two ago and it's still not officially fixed.

Let's just hope ORB won't follow WDC to the dark depths of crypto-purgatory  Smiley
Their price is quite similar today...

On the other hand, it's been a long time since the first problems and ORB is still alive.
I think any kind of good news (e.g. return of RedMist+Developer or even a takeover) will drive its value up...

can anyone tell me if its pointless mining orbit coins at the moment with wallet v1.3.2?? nothing comes across to Cryptsy at the moment.

It's a pity he didn't send you more than 15k ORB Mad_Max, I'm sure you'd be looking after us. Smiley

BTW, should we still mine on ver.132 ?
Is there a new ver. being prepared by Redmist ?

Hi say hi hired one unnamed high level programmer who will make new orb ver in best way with complete code update (not just single bug with mining like my ver).
But i also prepared fixed version to him as i promise in our "peace" agreement and post it to official github long ago (about ~10 days):
https://github.com/Orbitcoin/Orbitcoin/pull/3
He only need to replace # of block where new fork should start, apply code changes and pass info to coins exchanges...

But he just disappeared again from Internet right after it (as it was before in January right after posting not working buggy official "fix" 1.3.0)
No any actions from him or "hired programmer" in last 10 days.

So seems he accept agreement just to "buy some time"...
But time for what?

I am running wallet 1.3.2, got a few orbit coins now sitting in the wallet and sent some across to Cryptsy. Nothing has arrived as of yet. First transfer was sent on the 10th Feb and now has 4934 confirmations.  Does it normally take this long to send these across to Cryptsy?

You can mine, but you'll have to reassure yourself that TheRedMist is working on it AND can properly credit you for blocks mined past 475k.

https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/3866-agreement-between-madmax-and-theredmist-made-public/page-4

Note that TheRedMist was last active on cryptocointalk on 2nd Feb.

I also received all of my orbitcoins (and a bit more) by mad_max exactly as described in previous posts.
Smooth as red ale down a penguin's throat...  Cool
Thanks...
