Ok you are gambling just for fun, your friends and neighbors knows that and a friend invited you to his party to be one of the candidates as a councilor and campaign will start in 6 months, now, of course, you need to have a good reputation, will you stop gambling just to have a good image this coming campaign and how will you defend yourself if accused as a gambler.

Being accused as a gambler is not as bad as you think. You just have to control yourself. In which you will not end up to borrow money from other people. If the manager has the trust on you, you don't need to change yourself to have a good image. You don't need to defend yourself as long as you have your control and you don't degrade other people.

It depends on how long you are gambling before you entered the politic, no one will believe you if you say you are going to stop gambling and you have been gambling for 10 to 15 years and you just stopped because you are going to politics, people are wiser now, but if you have a very good reputation even if you are into gambling, then you have a chance.

In Code We Trust
Why would a person see us as a negative person when we gamble? Since in the first place we are gambling our own money and not the money of the people. So to stop gambling just because of reputation, I think considering the reputation of in exchange for gambling is not a fair trade if the case is in public. Because mainly, at this times, you could just gamble and play without people knowing it and is completely anonymous.

So putting myself in the situation, I will still play and gamble to earn money, and might just not mention anything about my activities online. I could also advise this to others except those who already have an image to a gambling platform that is widely known by many.

Being a gambler is not a sin. Specially you said you are doing it for fun.
If people don't vote for you it is simply because they don't trust you. Don't worry on what people think about you. As long as you are not destroying yourself for gambling.

Unfortunately, voters will not see the real side of the story they always go for something that is apparent, so if they perceive you as one who likes to gamble, your opponent in politics will enhance it and will picture as a compulsive gambler and they might campaign against you that you are just going to use the fund to gamble.

To be honest, no.

Reputation might be important but I think it would not stop me. I might stop for a while but after some time it will go back. It is not something you could just stop, it is something that became part of you for a long time. I can control those gambling urges but I can't stop gambling, there is a difference in those two.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with gambling.

Don't worry about being seen as a gambler, so long as you're careful with it and profitable, nobody cares.
If they see you as a gambler and your countrymen like you then there is nothing wrong with it.

If you love gambling more than the campaign then why would you adjust for the sake of it. If you are not doing bad things then it is good and even if they know you that you are a gambler, your reputation and image will not change even you stop gambling. It will remain the same because people know you already as a gambler. Just try your luck in the campaign and if you win then good. No need to adjust for the sake of campaign since your reputation will not change.

Public office is public trust and perception plays a crucial role on how  politician will remain in office, so if you are going to run for office it's better to have a public relations hip manager and stop gambling if you are going to run for office, your competitor will have something to attack you and being a gambler is one of the worst thing.

Exactly as it is, why should we bother?

As long as we are disciplined and not throwing to shit to others while gambling then just go.

Being a gambler doesn't mean we are putting ourselves into something as a bad figure. If some people think that way to us, then so be it.

For mne it's easy. I gamble occasionally so it will not be difficult to stop.

If they accuse me I will be honest about it. I'm not ashamed of gambling and I've never endangered my wealkt and my family with it. It's like smoking weed. Most people did it once or twice to see how it works. It's not such a big deal if somebody accuses you of being a gambler as long as you don't lie that you've never done it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with gambling.

Practically every politician gambles, as do some of the most famous faces on hollywood.

There's plenty of videos out there showing guys like Floyd Mayweather, Kevin Hart, and Arnold Schwarzenneger gambling—mostly playing poker.

You rarely find these sorts of people playing games like slots though, because those are typically associated with a lower class gambler.

Baccarat, Poker, Roulette—all good.

Don't worry about being seen as a gambler, so long as you're careful with it and profitable, nobody cares.

Of course the people won't be willing to elect a person who is known as a "gambler". They can't trust him in any way. All they are going to be thinking about is the funds they will be giving. If the person is a gambler, there is a high chance that he might gamble with the funds and peoples money. So, if that person truly wants to be elected, then yeah, he will want to stop gambling (even if the person is honest to the core) since his reputation will be at stake and might lose the election.

I think as long as we can gamble responsibly, then there will be no issues with our reputations because no body will even notice that we gamble.

I always believed that gambling is for matured minds, and should never be taken as a job. But when you are obsessed with gambling, and cannot control your personal affairs, then you need to stop gambling.

The most important is that you are trustworthy and responsible to handle things. It doesn't matter whether you gamble or not but make it sure to priority first your job. Good reputation will just follow.
Reputations will be respected once you showed the right things to do, and like what you have said setting priorities will gives you more respect if you know which is which to take care  first, gambling is part of entertainment it's a choice and not necessity you can always find ways to quit or handle it the right way.

As you said, gambling is just for fun. Not addicted, or anything that can harm your reputation, but just for fun.
It is indeed that reputation is important when you're running as a counselor or in any position in politics, but I don't think that it will affect your reputation. As long as you can provide proof of where you get your money, there is no need to think anything about it.
Still, being a gambler can ruin one's reputation for sure cause if you are going to consider some other vices that sticks together with gambling, it can be a source of corruption or even crimes. You can choose not to stop gambling but make sure you can hide it from everyone else cause once it gets out in public, your reputation will definitely be harmed.

i always Hate seeing politicians in news that gets involved in Gambling because it looks like they are also gamble the future of their people.

as i believe that once a gambler will always be a gambler and having this attitude will also apply in their administrations.
so if i am to vote?i will never vote a Political person that involving in this kind of activities, this is my stand and will always be.

It is quite funny that many local politicians in my country are very much into gambling. As a matter of fact, I have heard several times how people appreciate a politician who is considered down to earth because he is found rubbing elbows with ordinary folks in cockpit arena and local gambling houses. Normally, the older people who are a bit conservative would frown at them but the younger generation wouldn't really mind them being gamblers.

That is the reality, there are people who see it cool for a politician but majority of people would not see it that way.
It differs from country to country but politicians will try to look clean all the time especially if they are running for a higher office, maybe OPs example is not an example of a politician running on a high office but the more you run high the more people you will have to impress.
In our country's history, a current president was caught in the act of gambling which eventually led for the people to push him out of his position. Indeed it varies from different countries but for a third world country like ours, it can be seen as a clear corruption if you were to be caught gambling as a politician. It's probably people's taxes you are using to feed your greed for money.

Me too. It really reflects to the image of the politician in a bad light if they are involved in gambling. In being a politician and able to manage their constituents effective, they should be certain to the projects that they want the people to benefit from so the money of the people would not go to waste since these matters aren't up to a matter of chances. Also if you want to clear your image then proving to them that you are not addicted and you have an excellent character despite of this but I honestly think that would be challenging task.

For me, what really matters is on how you look at yourself as a gambler. Gambling is not bad, the only negative part in that is how you deal with it, if you are an experienced gambler and have known to control it, I think it is not a bad image. What really matters is on how you look at yourself and believe that you are rightful to be a candidate and it will show. Other people's thoughts and opinions are only for them, just show them what you really are and be a rightful participant.
Look society plays a bigger role than what we think sometimes and at least the people around me would be feeling down about me if they know I am gambling. Yes some people might say that it is only my insecurity but the truth is the society does judge you based on what your habits are for example someone who reads books and novels is considered to be very trusted and loyal.

It's something like I am addicted to alcohol and I see no problem with it and feel god myself but that does not mean others will also feel proud about by drinking if I am confident about it.
