Those who cares about their reputation are those who spent a lot of money during the election, and that people when they won in the election will do nothing but to steal money. its the voter's decision on how they want their future to be, if they will vote for money, so they will pay more.
unfortunately, in small countries where politics is a big business, there's a lot of corruption going on.
Some politicians do vote buying, which means they pay people with money just to win the election. The problem is people used the money given by the government official as a foundation of their decision. They don't analyze how it will affect their country, they just let themselves be deceived by their words and promises. People do not even bother checking politicians set of principal goals. Some politicians don't even do their duties and responsibilities after winning the election. Personally, I won't stop because I just gamble for entertainment, so if they don't understand it then I won't force them to like me. We have different preferences when it comes to entertainment, some prefer to gamble while other people enjoys watching movies or reading books.

If someone gambles just for fun and he totally has full control of his gambling habits it will not be a problem at all. Being a responsible gambler also means you are a trustworthy and responsible man. It is ok not to stop gambling because by the sound of it your friend trusts you for him giving that position.
Yeah, there's no issue on gambling, the issue here is how will you handle the gambling, if you want to gamble then, just play and enjoy the game. What you need here is to control yourself when somehow you lose the game, being a responsible gambler is good asset of a man so for me, as long as you are doing good and you are not gonna feed your greed you will be okay.

Well, sometimes people are judging the other from what they see, and it's like judging from just the cover without taking time to know who are they. That is what happens in our society, and they don't know the other things that we did besides playing gambling so they can easily judge wrong to us. Yes, we don't have to listen to them, as long as we can have responsibility for our life, and we don't harm other people, I think that will be enough for us, and people out there will see who we are.

Judgmental people are always there, just continue on what you are doing and just do what you enjoy, as long as you are being yourself many will see you as a real person, and not someone who are just doing good things for people to see.

Ok you are gambling just for fun, your friends and neighbors knows that and a friend invited you to his party to be one of the candidates as a councilor and campaign will start in 6 months, now, of course, you need to have a good reputation, will you stop gambling just to have a good image this coming campaign and how will you defend yourself if accused as a gambler.

Definitely I'll stop immediately, irrespective of my motive behind been a gambler. If I gamble for fun then I'll look for other things that I can have fun with to pass time then maybe gamble indoors to avoid unnecessary accusations from my opposite to discredit my capabilities. Now if I gamble to raise some capital to as my monthly income, I will give that up as a sacrificed since what I'm expected can assist my financial status more than gambling.

Gambling has been made so easy that you don't have to associate with your follow gamblers physically like before.  Therefore I could still contest for that political positive while still been a gambler but instead of participating in outdoor gambles, I'll focus indoors probably from my devices.

It is obvious that they have faith in you that is why they decided to put you up into a candidate for councilor.
I wouldn't stop gambling and I would clarify that I only gamble occasionally to have fun with my friends and it wouldn't affect my work as their councilor.

Does a gambler mean a bad man? I don't think being a gambler is a mistake and plunges you down to the wrong path. As long as you can control yourself and not excessive in playing gambling, I assume no problems at all. On the contrary, if you become addicted to gambling and trapped in loan/debt because of no limitation in using funds (money), that's the wrong way. So, it depends on how you manage yourself. If you do it properly, it won't harm your reputation.

Well politics is dirty, regardless you are a gambler or other vices. Your opponents will attack you no matter what so with that said, I won't stop with my gambling habits.

I saw a lot of politicians here in my country with worst than gambling, but they still won the election no matter what. So it really depends on the candidate itself, it people see that you can bring something new in the table, then people are going to elect you, no matter what your past is, even a frequent gambler.

Being a politicians is one thing and playing gambling by a politicians should not be mixed with the politics. Everyone has the right to do whatever they feel good at and if we can do gambling, why can't popular people like politicians can do the same.
Yes, you can point out finger on them if they do not perform their duty well, but we should not interfere in their personal activities.
even a politician is a human also and has a needs for enjoyment so why need this to bean issue if he can just play with little amount and nit abusing ?

for me there  in nothing to be afraid and lose about reputation because they are not doing any bad for their people.

Even I play gambling it doesnt mean Im not a good person, involving in gambling not defined who you are. Sometimes we dont need to listen to those people who always have saying to us because they only want an attention as long as you dont step on someone, then do what ever makes you feel happy. Its better to worry about your character because it is who you are than reputation is only think people who you are.

If gambling is seen in such a bad light by the community and my friend invited me to be part of his campaign I will probably decline, I do not want to be the reason that he loses the election and he gets bad reputation to the point that he cannot be elected to any other position, however I have yet to see such a strong reaction against gambling, in my country gambling is legal and as long as you keep it under control it is considered to be a healthy way to unwind.
Me too when I know of the campaign is having a bad reputation why would I continue to join it or invite some of my friends and family there's no reason to convince other people to be part of it if you know the possible happen. While in gambling as long as i can handle it then I will continue to gamble but if not then i probably decide to end than cause me in a big mess in the end.

I am not a big time gambler and hence there is nothing wrong in having a bit of fun now and then.
This would be okay if people are really educated, but if most voters are not, they will certainly judge you on this but its alright, if you run for politics, you don't need everyone's vote, you just need the majority's votes

That may not be enough

Even if you are not a big time gambler (heavy drinker, chain smoker, occasional wife beater, or whatever), it is how you, and more importantly, your competition, present all this, i.e. how people (read, voters) see you. As a matter of fact, any important election is based on massive brainwashing, dishonesty and outright lies, so if you are running for office, being sincere about your habits, inclinations, obsessions, good or bad, may not suffice even if you are well above your competition in personal traits like you love kids, don't beat your wife (too often), go to church of Sundays, etc

It is also one of the strengths of politics, anything can be done for personal or organizational interests. So if you are already involved in the gambling world and many people know you should not become a councilor candidate because that will only be a problem later. Your rival will do anything to bring you down and win him.
It depends though because attacking personal habits or matter wont be anytime effective for crush down your competitor even the other party would tend to expose it up.

Whats more important here is on how they would plan to accomplish their work once they are placed on such position and that's what matter most and all people would look for.
Even if you are a long time gambler I don't see for it to give negative impressions anytime on the said candidate.

I don't think that gambling will make you to have a bad reputation when you will be one of the candidates as a councilor because i believe that everyone has their own vices in life, that is why playing gambling will not be a hindrance to stop me from being one of the candidates. I know that politics is one of the ways that your opponents will try everything for you to have a bad reputation, but i don't think that people who will vote will depend on your vices when they are trying to pick their votes.

Politics is a big gamble and they are risking small and making a lot of money and this is what politicians usually does, the amount of money they spent to lure the voters will pale in comparison to the amount of money they will loot when they come into power and hence i consider it is a gamble as they are gambling on the aspect that they will be winning.

Stopping gambling will not help you to have a good reputation. You are well known gambler already and why will you change yourself for the sake of the campaign.

If you are being trusted by people then you don't have to change from being a gambler to not a gambler anymore just for the sake of the campaign. Being a gambler is not a sin and a gambler can also be a politician too so no reason to stop gambling Cheesy.

Being a gambler is not a sin but being a gambler is something that would be considered bad by others. But not everyone will look down on a gambler in his region, as in my region there are gamblers who always give alms to the poor and everyone knows that he gets money from gambling. And otherwise it would be considered bad if you do not have an active contribution in the society because basically gambling is a bad thing.

No, I won't stop gambling just to fake my own profile and personality. Also, 6 months is not enough to fake some characteristics in yourself, people can identify you. Casual gambling is not problem for me, I don't think it gives a bad reputation. Gambling can only become bad when it starts affecting important factors in your life. Huge debts, selling of properties, business closure, poor work performance and trouble in family due to gambling. These are perfect examples on how your reputation becomes bad due to gambling addiction.

That's right, faking a profile to look good in society is hypocrisy and just the same as we start a bad reputation ourselves. In fact, a good reputation is built because sincerity is not due to a specific purpose.
