Young girl flying on her own with American Airlines 'was sexually assaulted by a 57-year-old man who moved seats to be next to her on the plane'
"The parents of a girl who reported being inappropriately touched by a man while flying alone from New York to Iowa have sued her alleged attacker and American Airlines - saying it failed to protect the girl.
Muhammad Asif Chaudhry, 57, was arrested on charges including engaging in sexual contact with a victim between the ages of 12 and 16, following the flight in July.
The Pakistani citizen, who denies the accusations, has since been released on bond.
The lawsuit alleges that Chaudhry moved to an empty seat beside the girl during the flight.
The girl texted her mother - who had just arrived at work in Iowa - saying she had been woken up by a man inappropriately touching her with his foot and later his hand. 'I can't move cause the seat belt sign is on and I want to get away,' the girl said in the texts, which were turned over to the FBI, according to the lawsuit.
She began another text, 'Mommy, I'm scared...'
The family's attorney, Brett Beatty, said the mother was so shocked by the texts that she fainted.
When Chaudhry left the seat to use the restroom, the girl alerted a flight attendant, who moved her to a vacant first-class seat.
The airline reported the girl's complaint to authorities, and an FBI agent met Chaudhry when the plane landed in Chicago, before the second part of the flight, to Iowa.
The girl gave the FBI's investigating agent a cellphone photo she'd taken with Chaudhry's leg across her lap, the agent said.
Court documents also allege that Chaudhry trapped the girl against the plane window."

We went on to estimate, based on the projected size of the RMB carry trade unwind, how large the FX reserve liquidation might need to be to offset capital outflows and finally, late last week, we suggested that China’s official FX reserve data was set to become the new risk-on/off trigger for nervous, erratic markets. In short, the pace at which Beijing is burning through its USD assets in defense of the yuan has serious implications not only for investors’ collective perception of market stability, but for yields on core paper, for global liquidity, and for US monetary policy.
On Monday we got the official data from China and sure enough, we find out that the PBoC liquidated around $94 billion in reserves during the month of August to $3.557 trillion (the lowest since September 2013)...

The Hoosier Works Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system will be conducting a system transition on Saturday night, September 26, at 11:00 p.m. EDT causing a temporary system outage. Hoosier Works is the system Indiana uses to deliver Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits. This outage affects all SNAP/TANF EBT cardholders.
Our current provider, JP Morgan Chase, has decided to get out of the business of providing EBT card services. Therefore, Indiana must move our EBT business to a new provider (Xerox), and making that change requires a temporary system outage.
Will I be able to use my EBT card?
During the temporary system outage, EBT cardholders will not be able to make SNAP purchases or access TANF benefits at any grocery stores or ATMs. EBT cardholders should plan to do their grocery shopping and/or make cash withdrawals before or after the transition period. Turkish special forces crossed into northern Iraq to pursue Kurdish militants on Tuesday, a senior official told AFP, after the deadliest attacks by the rebels on the security forces in years left dozens dead.
Fourteen Turkish police were killed Tuesday in a new attack by Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants as violence in the east of the country threatened to spiral out of control.
That attack came two days after 16 Turkish soldiers were killed in a twin roadside bomb attack in Daglica in the southeastern region of Hakkari, according to the army, the deadliest strike in the current phase of the conflict.
In response, the Turkish air force pounded targets of the PKK in northern Iraq and special ground forces crossed the border in a rare land incursion.
"Turkish security forces crossed the Iraqi border as part of the hot pursuit of PKK terrorists who were involved in the most recent attacks," a Turkish government source told AFP.
"This is a short-term measure intended to prevent the terrorists' escape," added the official, without specifying the timing of the incursion.
The Dogan news agency said two units of the Turkish special forces, supported by warplanes, were chasing two 20-strong groups of PKK militants.
Earlier the official Anatolia news agency reported more than 50 Turkish jets were involved in the raids, killing "35 to 40 terrorists according to preliminary findings", it added.
Dozens of F-16 and F-4 jets took part in the air operation in northern Iraq, which began around 10 pm (1900 GMT) on Monday and continued for six hours. They targeted PKK bases in Qandil, Basyan Avashin and Zap, and hit weapons and food stores as well as the militants' machinegun positions.
The attacks had prompted Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to vow to "wipe out" PKK militants from the mountains of eastern Turkey.
'Plague of terror'
From late July, Turkey has staged air strikes and ground operations against the PKK in its strongholds of southeastern Turkey and northern Iraq in a bid to inflict a mortal blow on its capacities.
But the PKK has hit back, killing dozens of Turkish police and soldiers in almost daily attacks, with the bloodier attacks marking a new intensification of the conflict.
The 14 police were killed in the eastern region of Igdir in a bomb attack by militants on a minibus taking them to the Dilucu border post with neighbouring Azerbaijan, Anatolia reported.
A PKK spokesman in northern Iraq confirmed to AFP that the PKK had carried out the attack.
Meanwhile, one policeman was killed in the Tunceli region of eastern Turkey in an attack blamed on the PKK, Turkish television said.
The violence has left in tatters a 2013 ceasefire aimed at allowing a final peace deal to end the PKK's three-decade insurgency, which has claimed tens of thousands of lives.
The PKK initially took up arms in 1984 with the aim of establishing an independent state for Turkey's Kurdish minority, although lately the demands focused on greater autonomy and rights.
Commentators have expressed alarm that the current situation increasingly resembles the worst days of the PKKs insurgency in the 1990s when attacks on this scale were commonplace.
"We did not and will not abandon the nation's future to three or five terrorists," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in defiant speech in Ankara.
But he promised that "with God's permission, Turkey, which has overcome plenty of crises, will get over the plague of terror."

Starting last summer, Feeney started sending sexual texts and emails to the boy, sometimes from her school account, including one with a topless photo, according to an affidavit obtained by the Smoking Gun.
In June, the boy told her in a text: “Im not interested in you end of story Im 16 im not into you.” She still allegedly pursued him for a year, and kissed him once despite him repeatedly telling her to stop.
Feeney told the teen she could land him a spot at Harvard — which she graduated from in 1997, records show. School records also show she married a classmate.
She sent him an email purportedly from the school saying he would “definitely” be a candidate and is “on the top of our list.” At the end of the message, Feeney allegedly wrote: “you…owe me big time. And no high fives.”
Harvard did not immediately comment on the authenticity of the email.
In her other emails, Feeney continued trying to coax the boy and threatened him. Her messages, obtained by Philadelphia magazine, include:
“I’d send you the sunburn photo I posted to Instagram but that might not be a great move for my career.”
“If you don’t respond to me in another week, I will pull you aside.”

"Pope Francis on Tuesday will release new streamlined procedures for annulling marriages after he — and thousands of Catholics before him — complained that the church's current system is cumbersome, costly and often unfair."'
Uh, what? People complaining that getting an annulment is cumbersome, costly and unfair? The bible says we're not to divorce (except in a few specific cases). This is just another example of the pope letting people feel off the hook to do things the bible calls a sin (remember he said priests can forgive abortions too).
