I personally know a few guys with gambling addition (within friend circle as well as within family), and I know how hard it can be to get rid of it. That said, I am not sure whether this is the right time for doing it. Most of the countries are under lockdowns and people are sitting at home without any work. And when the gamblers are idle, then there is a larger chance for them to relapse to old gambling habits.

I agree now is the worst time to come out of addiction and all non essentials activity are closed.A lot of people have lost their work from business closures massively because of this pandemic and we don’t know for how long this will continue. All these things just emphasizes more the desire to gamble in gambling addicts.

As we all know , Coronavirus has impacted each and every industry in the whole world and sports isn't an exception .

If you take a look at this  , https://www.nytimes.com/article/sports-canceled-coronavirus.html or https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/coronavirus-and-its-impact-on-sporting-events-please-add-5232295 you will get to know how many tournaments across different sports have been affected .

But the question is , is this the right time for gambling addicts to come out of addiction? The assumption I am making here is  that the gambling addicts are addicts on sports betting and not casino game addiction or poker .

Why this question is because although I wanna bet on sports ( which I have been doing every week since 8 years ) now I cannot .
The right time to come out from addiction is always the present. If you really want to come out from addiction, it will be easy for you but if you really want gambling, it will be a reason for you to have a hard time on recovering from addiction. Addiction is just a psychological problem and not in physical so you can stop it instantly without getting stress your body but it can damage your brain but not s lethal one. All you need to think when recovering from addiction is what are the reason for you to recover.

It seems to me that online casinos could save a huge number of addicted people if they stopped their work during the crisis.
People just wouldn't have a choice where to gamble. But such tricks are fraught with the loss of huge profits that casinos are aimed at.

This will not stop gamblers to play. Even without the pandemic there are already a lot of people who are jobless that are gambling addicted. Tha pandemic or the lock-down is not a key or a sign for a gambler to stop, if one has to stop from gambling he/she can do so even before the pandemic.

Maybe we could say that this is the (perfect) time for gambling addicts to come out from addiction but we don't know if they have that thought.
If they have no choice to play then maybe they can get out but if they are a online gamblers, the game continues as there as still a lot of gambling sites that are open and offering variety of games.

I'm not sure if they are taking such action or maybe they will find a way to continue their pleasure in gambling. It is not the pandemic or lockdown that could make them stop but it is all about how much willing they are coz if they want to get out from that addiction, they should have to do it at any time.
Maybe they can stop if their family is infected with the virus, as a person we always prioritize our family over anything, unless we have no love for them. Gambling gives pleasure but when you are addicted,  you can't feel it, you think it's a need and you let gambling control you instead of the opposite.

I think gambling addicts will not have any chance to get out from their addiction because there are still online gambling sites that they could spend time at their homes while there is a community quarantine lockdowns,
It is true. For some addicts who play online gambling, they have no problems to continue their habit even in this current situation. But for addicts who play on physical gambling places, they may have big problem because those places are still closed. However, they can try to play online gambling sites. So, there is a way for gamblers to keep their habits. This is likely to make them still become addicts.

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
It is doubtful this is going to have a positive effect on those that are addicted to sports bets, I have met a few people like that and they bet on everything regardless of whether they actually know the sport or not, even right now there must be some sort of sports events around the world and that could be enough for them to keep on betting, also I am pretty sure you could find bets like when a particular league is going to comeback? Or will the whole season get cancelled? As such like always the only way to beat an addiction is to make a conscious effort to get out of it regardless of any other external factor.

Well-said. It totally depends on the gambler, with or without pandemic. And if you are really a gambling addict, more than likely you need a professional help and in this situation it is hard to get a professional one as everyone is staying at home. But if you think you and your family can help your situation alone, then it's good for you. But one should be sincere about it and not change your stance once the lockdown is over or once the normal situation in gambling activities resume. Will power and total commitment is needed to suddenly change your lifestyle. One should have good emotional or moral support to conquer this fight.
Getting professional help is probably not as hard as it may seem, with the pandemic still going strong all over the world many people have found ways to offer their services online without the need of a physical presence, and getting professional help from a person with experience on getting addicted people to recover can be done online and in that case the isolation we are going through could be a positive factor to beat the addiction once and for all.

I think gambling addicts will not have any chance to get out from their addiction because there are still online gambling sites that they could spend time at their homes while there is a community quarantine lockdowns, but it would be better if gamblers would take a break from gambling because it is much better to spend more time with their families while they are at their home to strengthen their bond.
That's somehow true, however, due to the current situation we are all facing right now, it might be the opposite.

Gambling addicts probably not engaging themselves in online gambling since prioritizing their needs (which is to save enough money) is a must today. They should probably use this chance to come out of their addiction and start having a new hobby.
Gambling addicts are also human and even they somehow prioritized their bad habit but in this kind of situations probably they will choose to live and forget about playing and gamble their money, Though chances that there are still gamblers who choose to play and continue their habits online since that particular venues still available but not all of those addicted gamblers will risk their money.

Considering the situation, there is a possibility that they don't have any source of funds just like the way they have before when there is no crisis yet. For now, they are forced to consider their living and necessities before playing because if they don't they might die in hunger unless these people are really too rich but still, I have a conjecture that even if your are rich, it is hard to cash in money in order to play gambling unless your money is in banks and could be use to directly transfer and buy cryptocurrency of your choice to play.

Or if they don't have any choice, there are still casinos that utilizes dollars in digital. Well, I'm pretty sure they can't really pursue it easily as they will miss playing in physical casinos because of the excitement it can give to them, through the games and the interaction they could experience with the other players.

Due to the lockdown the sports betting people were stuck much as there is no game played.
That's me,  I am stuck without doing anything, maybe a bit gambling with other games but as a sports bettor, you'll get use to sports betting already as you get a more satisfying feeling, I am not an addict but I am thankful I have given a rest due to this pandemic.

This time can be the right time for the gambling addicts to come out of their addiction and stop gambling for the rest of their life.

However, it will still depend on the gambler if they want to stop it or not. An addicted gambler will not stop gambling immediately and it will take time to do it. One more is that what if the gambler doesn't want to stop. Even though there is crisis going on, gamblers can still gamble in their home thru online gambling so they can still gamble so probably for some yes this maybe the right time but for some addicted ones maybe this isn't the right time for them. I doubt too that most of the addicted gamblers will stop gambling if they see that they are enjoying doing it.

Due to the lockdown the sports betting people were stuck much as there is no game played. Using this as an opportunity sports betting gamblers can come out of addiction. By the same time it is also time for more people to get into gambling addiction as people have lot of time to spend. Mostly it starts with small trials and if they get little earning the same leads to addiction and if lost at the beginning, people start trying to get back the loss. So it is time for getting out of addiction as well get addicted. Stay safe, stay home and stay out of addiction.

No matter how hard is the situation is, if they won't change themselves from those addictions, it's worst than pandemic if it became worst. I witnessed some people who had the worst addiction to gambling. they work the whole day just to burn their money overnight in gambling and tomorrow they do it again and again. This is some serious matter here because even the worst situation cannot guarantee their changes. they're the one should take the initiative first then their families would help them for that and their friends.

This crisis is a very good oppurtunity to rehabilitate when you become an addict to gambling, but this will be tough for people who are willing to be rehabilitated because there will be times when you will suffer withdrawal because you haven't played for a long time. This is especially challenging if you are also playing online casinos. A little self-discipline, an awareness that you are an addict, and a help from your family will surely help your rehabilitation. Afterall, it is only you that can help in making yourself cured of your addiction, be it gambling or substance abuse.

Only themselves are capable of eradicating such characteristic. Regardless of how many people is going to help an addicted person, even his family, If this particular person has no plan on a change for himself, then that would be a very difficult mission to change this person's mind. Force rehabilitation, may be temporary, he might go back to where he left himself behind after the rehabilitation. Therefore, only himself is capable of changing himself.

Yeah gambler can come out of gambling addictions anytime but they will have to be ready for it and always stay strong if once you decide to do it. Some people become so addicted that they lose their self control but now is really good time for them to come out of this addiction as they are compel to stay at home and not to go to casino so such good time to reduce will of gambling.

Unless they still try to search for online gambling, that will not work for them to stop gambling. I agree that when someone addicted to anything, not just addicted to gambling, he will feel difficult to comes out of his addiction. I have a friend who is addicted to mobile legends, although that game is not a gambling game, he is very addicted, and he is difficult to accept the advice to stop for a while. Maybe if he is at one point that will force him to stop, he will stop. I guess that will happen too with the gamblers who are very addicted to gambling.

addicts will always find a way to fulfill their passions...
Traditional casino addicts are definitely moving online casinos to meet their addictions, closing traditional casinos because this plague will not make them stop.

Yes there are people that are unstoppable. Nothing can stop them because they always have a way unless they really have no choice like no money and no one will allow them to lend some money. But in the other hand, I think this lockdown will make some people really stop from gambling. Those who do not have plenty of money will realize that he/she don't wanna die in hunger as well as his/her family.
